If you look at my other reviews, its really not hard to get 4 or 5 stars from me. Its actually more difficult to get 2. But we have a winner. Love palmetto dunes, love HHI. Had a tradition of coming to the general store once per vacation to grab glass bottle cokes on ice during a bike ride. They dont have them anymore. Or at least not the day we were there. They have the Mexican cokes in a fridge but no old style metal cooler with iced down cokes. Settled for frozen cokes instead. We used the wrong cups and the tab at the register was $16 for three. Thus insued a Clark Griswold style interaction of (I dont have $16 on me...ok how much you got?). You will notice that there arent prices on many items in the store. The reason being they hope to have you swipe your card without a second thought. Im sure they have some "real" reason like market fluctuations...lol. You can have a frozen coke just down the street at any gas station for a dollar or less. Here its a 500% markup. If you dont care how much you spend on anything, this place will serve you just fine. If you do care about not being a victim of highway robbery, find your supplies elsewhere. But the breakfast foods do look very good.

My favorite thing to do at the general store every year my family went to HHI was to get the "famous" general store softs serev ice cream. But this year was cut because of the machine. And it just HAD to break that ONE week we were there. I was bawling my eyes out that it broke. It was my favorite thing to do. And because of thos mishap, I rate this place one star. They deserve it. I heard that there was an amazing place in Coligney Plaza that had wonderful soft serve ice cream.

My beach trip with my son and his 2 and my daughters 4, she didnt get to come, but she let me bring the teens and tween. Lol.... hate the long walk to the beach. 7 mins is a long walk when you have a bad back and bad knees. Nice place. The walk is my ONLY complaint. I dont mind walking but not as often as we have to come back to the house. Lol......if ya love walking, this is the place. Nice, very nice. So , if you get my point, I dont like a whole lot of walking. Lol.....

Highly recommend. I wanted a cinnamon roll for breakfast and did a google search with the General Store being at the top. At first I was skeptical, but tried it anyway. You need to go to the back corner and they have all kinds of great breakfast foods ready to go. Had breakfast here two days in a row, but then had to go back to Michigan.

This was one of the only places open over the holiday weekend where we could find a cigar last-minute. They had some vintage treats like the original push-up pops etc that you cant seem to find everywhere anymore. They had a decent variety of things in case you forgot to pack something.

Have been coming here for years, every day of vacation since I was a little kid. Always friendly. The breakfast is great (biscuits and gravy especially). Good variety of snacks, coffee, souvenirs, etc. Visiting again in two months and it will surely be my first stop on the island.

Come here every summer to get a small bottled coke and some of their canned dips and salsas, let me tell you I tried the peach salsa today and I will be back for more before I leave! Not to mention great little sitting area for eatting their great home made food

This store is everything you would hope for in a small community general store. It is always extremely clean, the staff are always very friendly, and the selection and pricing are great. Hot meals are served at the back throughout the day for an added bonus.

Always have what we need. Fried chicken and breakfasts are good and priced right. There are also a good selection of camp hilton head t-shirts here and other souvenirs. You will buy more than you planned and thats what they want. Great store.

Breakfast and Lunch is out of this world I particularly like the fried chicken and Mac n cheese and one of our favorite things to do is sit under the porch right outside, they have everything that you need and employees are awesome
