I came to purchase a cell phone and plan based on a sale that I saw online. Although the deal was web-only, I saw enough of the store and customer service for me to be able to write a review. The store was in good condition, but there was a box and some merchandize cluttering the counter space. The employees did not appear professional. I understand that the job may not pay well, and appearance doesnt always equate to service. The largest issue that I had was the customer service. There were two employees behind the counter. To their credit, I was greeted quickly and with a smile. It was nice. They then asked me what I was looking for. I explained that I wanted to buy a phone, and was looking for a particular deal. I asked if they offered the deal and the answer was "I think so". I asked again a few minutes later and again, was told "Yeah, Im pretty sure". I had the feeling that they really didnt know. My rep then helped another customer, while I stood waiting for them. They then ran a quick credit check on my credit, and I asked about another part of the deal: the price of the phone. The employee did not know the price of the phone, but said that there was no deal on the price. I told them that it was a promotion I saw online, and their response was that I needed a coupon from Radio Shack. I then told them that I was not going to buy a phone today. They looked at me briefly, and asked me, "so youre not going to get a phone today?". I said no. They started doing something on the computer, and I had to ask them for my drivers license back so I could leave. They didnt know anything about what I was asking. I understand this happens sometimes. To not inquire further, or to ensure I was getting what I wanted, is the issue I have. Im sure they get kudos for signing people up for cell phone plans, but the least they could do is answer my questions with confidence and know their offerings. I think if the representatives had some knowledge about their service offerings and prices, it would go a long way in improving this store.

I have gone in to that store only twice and somehow have managed to have several errors occur in their promotions, ringing things up, receiving coupon deals, and price matching. I walked in and it appeared to me that they had no interest in working and did not want to take the time in talking to me. They were not friendly, but instead seemed to want to argue with me about price matching a product. Instead of price matching an online deal, they rudely informed me that I needed the paper ad, but then looked at the ad on my phone, and then quickly informed me that because it was an online deal they would not match it. I find this very funny due to the fact that this is an electronics store, and are implying that paper ads are recognized over ads on your phone when clearly you can see the competitors price. It was a Target ad, its not as if I made it up! I have unfortunately I had to speak with this manager on the phone before, and instead of respect, I had to argue with her on the phone and I never do that. She was rude on the phone and in person. The only reason I went in there again was because I had a gift card to correct their previous error. If it wasnt for the gift card, I would have turned right back around. I will never return to another Radio Shack.
