Really belated review. I went to Love Bikes the week of the Pittsburgh tri at the end of July because the REI bike shop in Robinson had messed up the gears on my road bike--twice--and it was almost unrideable (nothing against REI, they were probably just overwhelmed with service orders). Nick fiddled with the tension screws for a few minutes and it helped, but it still wasnt quite back to normal. Now, I had ridden in without an appointment and didnt have much time (was in the process of moving, too), but Nick patiently explained how I could do the rest of the fine-tuning on my own, then tried to send me on my way without charging me anything. Awesome and friendly service with an eye toward teaching me how to do it myself. Thats something you dont find everywhere.

My Fuji road bike was in need of a lot of work. I had seen signs for bicycle repair on Butler Street and sopped in. The shop was small but looked efficient and organized. I met Nick who owns and operates the shop and he was very helpful in explaining what was wrong and how he would fix it. My back wheel was a mess and I could not fix it myself. I was missing ball bearings and parts. I left the bike with him on Friday evening and by Sunday evening, he had repaired the problem and also gave my old bike a much needed tuneup. It was also missing a derailer so he installed a used one that he had lying around. Overall, it was a good experience and I recommend Nick and Love Bikes.

Im not from the neighborhood, I came upon this shop quite by accident while riding through. I walked in with a small wheel problem and they stopped what they were doing, fixed it, and told me not to worry about the bill. It was a treat to encounter a shop that was well organized, very competent, and friendly to walk-ins. The exterior belies their professionalism.

Went in with a few questions and a need for a 26X1.5 presta tube. The fellow was very helpful and friendly and they had the tube. This is what a local bike shop should be! Patronize this shop! Not corporate locations like Biketek (NOTHING AGAINST BIKETEK!)

Extremely limited choice of over price in a wide range of condition. Based on the way the guy answered my questions, I would not put my bike in his hands to fix.

Intimate, friendly, and stylish bike shop ran by Nic Brungo, a friendly, down-to-Earth native Pittsburgher with a great knowledge of, and love for, bikes.
