Many dogs, such as ours, require that hair be removed from their ears to avert an inevitable smelliness and subsequent infection. We loved the fact that this store actually had a parking lot (in Philadelphia) and went because it was relatively close to us and clean. Little did we know that we were actually taking our dog to Pet Hell. Our dog was left with the groomers for a few hours (which, we found, is far longer than what a service like this typically takes elsewhere). We were given a call to inform us our dog was ready to be picked up. I like to see what Im paying for, so immediately after walking out of the stores doors, I checked my dog’s ears. They were FULL of hair. Not only that, we were never told that the service we paid for was never performed. When we took the dog back in, they blamed the dog (although there was never an apology for the fact that we were never told that the job wasnt completed). I was pretty irate at this point - I was told by one groomer to "Shut up." I overheard another groomer complain about how much he >hated< when people brought in puppies (complaining about another dog). We were told that taking the dog’s ear hair out (a fairly typical task) would cause our dog to "bleed to death." The same groomer said, looking at us, “Some people are just never satisfied.” The kicker: they still didnt finish the job. On top of that, they wouldnt give me a refund for the work they didnt do. I didn’t plan on donating money to a bunch of dim groomers (I don’t use this to describe all dog groomers – just the ones working @ this location on this particular day) who hated their jobs – I paid to have a service performed. I wrote a letter to the general manager about the poor service and poor attitudes held by the staff. He sent me a PetSmart card in the amount that we paid for the service (I requested a refund from him). He also called me and told me that they were changing the escalation process so that a manager would, in the future, be immediately included. Unfortunately, we wont be able to experience this as I will never take my dog back to this place again (I suggest you do not either).

Never take your pet to the banfeild vet, or the grooming section. I took my dog there for a while and there very rude and unhelpful. I wanted to weigh my dog to see what flea medicine to get and a woman came out and got VERY cocky with me, saying its not my place to weigh my dog on a scale that is out in the open for people to use. I stopped going there. Next, the grooming salon. I wouldnt waste your money, i have a beagle/spaniel mix, shes very scared, (i think she was abused before i got her) anyway, i took her to get a bath once, not sure how it went but it took quite a few hours. I get her nails cut there regularly and they are HORRIBLE. the first time we ever got them cut, the woman had her on the table with the loop thing around her neck, and she walked away! My dog went to jump off the table and was hanging! I was horrified. Im assuming she got fired, next, i went there a few weeks ago to get them cut and they usually never have a problem with my dog. She can be very nervous but its all about your energy and how you handle her. The girl who was handleing her was fairly knew, she had to muzzle my dog which they never do, and it took her over a half hour to cut and grind her nails, that usually takes less then fifteen minutes. My poor baby was up on that table with a muzzle on, having her paws bent backwards for to long, i dont think they understand what its like for the animals. i dont think they should let knew workers, work on my dog if they dont know what their doing. The people who work there are...interesting. Some are nice, some are rude. We asked about my cats food that got discontinued and they said it would be back in a few weeks, when i called another store, they said it was discontinued. The south philly pets mart obviously knew that, they just decided not to tell me. The forgotten cats center inside is great, i have two cats from there and i volunteer in there, its my favorite part of the store! But i wouldnt get your pet groomed, or go to the vet there.

WORST PET SMART EVER- pet owners beware. We brought my dog in for grooming on Tuesday and we mentioned that she had been itching quite a bit, so the groomers assured us that they would let us know if she had fleas/do the proper treatment if that were the case (were customers who are willing to pay whatever if our dog has a problem). They dont say anything regarding the fleas, let her go with us, and of course two days later we find out she has fleas!!! My boyfriend who has never washed a dog in his life is the one who found them, funny their team couldnt! So within those two days my other animals, my house, and my friends were all exposed to her fleas, and in the end we paid a $450 vet bill. I call this Pet Smart to explain the situation, rather upset. They put me on hold MULTIPLE times and I speak to MULTIPLE different people, but still wait it out. Caitlin was the best person I spoke to, very nice and willing to help me, but unfortunately she got her team leader Dallas on the phone who was a nightmare. He picked up the phone, didnt even explain who he was, and interrupted me multiple times. He gave me a talk on respect which is funny, he should probably learn what it is if hes in customer service. I am an upset pet owner, and if he had handled the situation right it would have made things easier. I will not be coming in for my refund because Id much rather stay away from this Pet Smart and their terrible Customer Service. Beware!

I have NEVER had such a horrible experience as I had at this store. Having been an avid aquarist for over 15 years, I know a few simple things to look for upon trying to buy a fish. Though they have a wide variety of common fish there, the care shown for these animals should have their store shut down. The mindless worker (1 of 3 I tried to get help from...) did the wrong thing about 4 times, and when he did finally get the fish I wanted, USED HIS FINGERS TO PINCH THE FISH AND TRANSPORT IT FROM NET TO THE BAG! I also looked down at the working table he was transporting fish on at that point and saw, no joke, 5-10 fish writhing around, alive, waiting to die because of this idiot. I aired my concerns as calmly as possible with the manager, informed him that the equivalent of fish torture was going on at his store, and left. I then wrote a letter of complaint to Petsmarts corporate office and received a response the equivalent of were sorry, but we dont care. Unbelievable. Please do not go to this store. The sooner it goes out of business the sooner the poor animals living there will be free of the torment they endure at this place. Read the other reviews, they are all the same. Disgraceful.
