Terrible terrible service. My brother and I got to the store at around 9:55. It was a very rainy day so we did not know what time they open but the doors were open. One of the female employees, ran out and started to push us out the door saying we are not open yet in a very rude manner. Which was fine, we didnt really think twice of it. We decided to go grocery shopping and come back at around 10:15. When we got in, we wanted to go look at hamsters. It was terrible because the whole tank of hamster had wet tail. We didnt end up getting a hamster but my brother decided to get a couple of fish. Now here is where the bad service come to play. The two guys that were helping us get the fish was nice but he not only dropped the fish onto a table, he than decided to grab the fish with his bare hands and put it back into the fish bag to give it to us!!! He than proceed to get dirty water from another fish tank to submerge our fish into it! Since we just got it today I have no idea if the fish would even survive, on top of that the guys wrote the wrong number on the fish bag for the women at the register to ring us up with. Not only did the rude register women told us to go back to fish section to get the right number. I cant believe it. It is not like there was anyone behind us, the whole place was empty! terrible customer service. I will not be coming back here ever again. This store is not only dirty, their employees are very unprofessional. I honestly believe that mcdonalds employees are more professional than the employees here and that should say a whole lot. I am very upset that I have to give this place even a one star to write a review because they do not even deserve that.

Please note that this incident was at the audobon location however this is a 3 chain store which is owned by ONE person ....If I could rate a zero I would .....A friend of mine purchased a guinea pig from here ... The Guinea pig had conjunctivitis in its left eye so it was taken to the vet... After they left the vet with a costly vet appointment they contacted monster pets and was told that they do not reimburse vet bills... the pig now a week later has ringworm all over its body which was preexistant but did not show signs until the last few days (besides the fact monster pets didnt not notice the pig is missing all toes on its one foot and a few on another) ... Contacted store again and they stated that they could return the pig with a refund of purchase price or trade him in and that is it ... They love the pig they want to keep him but that option was not given unless they foot the bills for the vet them selves for something that was caused by the store ... By law to sell animals in new jersey vet reimbursement at a reasonable cost must be given as an option and it was not...apparently Owners are not there until Friday and the manager was less than helpful he just kept stating that he "has never ran into this issue b4" .. I find it hard to believe that no animals have been returned do to not being healthy!!! I will never purchase an animal from any of their facilities ... Buyers beware of this place!!!

Mgmt seems ok but I feel the young kids in the city monster pet stores are horrible (fire them all) but the staff in the Blackwood store seemed more customer service oriented. As for this expert on puppy mills ;keep your personal opinions to yourself. This is america folks can buy anything from anywhere they cotton-pickin please. The last time I checked all the shelters had was dogs that somebody abandoned for some reason or another namely pitbulls. Who needs a dog that may possibly turn or not adapt because reasons to numerous to mention from adopting some spca mutt. Stop thinking your saving the world by advocating your stupid rants & do something more useful with your life. Just like people animals get ill which means a responsible owner will care for the pet. Period end of discussion get a life

Support shelters, not puppy mills. Monster pets does not sell puppies from local breeders. Its a proven fact their puppies are shipped from all over the place from terrible puppy mills. Anyone who buys a puppy from a petstore is in idiot. MILLIONS of dogs and puppies will be put to death in shelters each year (some gassed, some shot, some stabbed in the heart... etc).. 13,000 animals in Philadelphia ALONE. The large majority were highly adoptable (yes, cute little puppies are still being murdered). By shopping at this store, even if you arent buying their little mutts, you are still supporting the loser owners who care more about their wallets then about the basic care of puppies and dogs. NO MORE PUPPY MILL MUTTS!!!

This place is horrible. Not only is it filthy, the employees are extremely rude or generally not helpful. The shelves seem to be barely stocked when you need to buy some of their overpriced merchandise, and the animals look like theyre living in squalor. On my last visit to this place (I decided to give them another chance), one of their employees walked out in front of my car and continued to walk in front of it as I tried to turn down the lane to park. She then followed my vehicle and cursed me out. I turned right around and left; they will absolutely not be getting my money or business. Youre better off going elsewhere that actually cares about their animals and customers.

FINALLY Monster Pets has an employee who knows about reptiles and small animals and cares about how they are taken care of. His name is Jose or Jesus, I cant remember which lol, but he knows his stuff. Every time I come in hes making sure the animals there are clean, fed, and happy. I must admit that I used to be put off from coming in (dead pets in cages, snakes with dry shed still stuck to them, etc.), but knowing that hes there, I know the animals are OK. Well done Monster Pets for hiring such a caring and knowledgeable person, you have gained a customer for life.

My hamster died after 4days that i got her from Monster Pet. She was placed with more than 10 other hamsters around her, and some hamsters had diarrhea in that cage.. Which brought my hamster to get that virus. She died from a wet tail. Please provide a proper care to those hamsters and separate the ill hamster away from the healthy ones.. I chose not to get a replaced hamster because I am afraid of getting another sick hamster. So i would recommend to get a hamster from a good breeder or something.. Thank you, and I hope my message will improve their services.

My dad purchased Pacu fish from the 52nd street store and they OES in less than two months. Today he has clown knife fish and its not two months and one is dying already. I think the bait fish come with bacteria and contaminate his tank. He has someone clean and maintain his tank regularly. His fish were okay until days after buying and feeding Rosie reds and ghost shrimp from 52nd street.
