Matched with Anna on Tinder. Casually got into a conversation about doing tattoos. She got all pissy about "not looking for clients on tinder." Oh? But all of your photos are of your work? She insisted on declaring that her tattooing rate is $150 per hour. I immediately chuckled. Shes been tattooing two years and charges top dollar for the tri-state area. Please do yourselves a favor, go to Frequency tattoos Instagram and look at Annas work. Look at the curves around her art in particular, you will see the shaky lines she pulls and the uneven curves in her shapes. This is a tell-tale sign of a noob tattooer. Please do not pay top dollar for a new artist. You cant even justify $150 an hour for any artist, really (Because even if the artist is only taking home 30% of that rate, he or she is still making $45 an hour.. More than in noble careers like nursing and policing). You are taking a risk that should be compensated by lower rates. I dont know what this shop is thinking, but above all else, they should ask her to keep her work/shop info off of Tinder (a dating app). P.S. Im not bitter about Anna on Tinder. Thats her perogative. But I am bitter about the rates shes going to demand. Sure, theres always "if you dont like it, go somewhere else." But that avoids the issue. Here, at least, it can be addressed and absorbed by someone else.

Extremely disappointed, yet again, in my effort to find talented, professional tattoo artists and shops in the Philadelphia area. I often travel to NYC to get work done but have been looking for a local shop for the past two years. Also, I very much wanted to work the artist I selected, researched him in advance, set up an appointment, and was told that they were going to work on the design and I would hear back. And then nothing. I emailed and asked when my appointment would be scheduled for. Nothing. Then I reached out just to ask like "hey, Im open to whatever you come up with - can I still get my tattoo here?" Nothing. Im just glad I didnt put down a deposit, because I would have probably never gotten my money back. Womp.

It was a pleasure working with Dave throughout the consultation and tattoo process. He was able to capture exactly what I was looking for while putting his own artistic influences into the work. He was down to earth and reassuring when I was nervous about getting started, but this did not interfere from his professionalism in both work and attitude. Both Dave and John provide amazing customer service and produce exceptional art. If you are having doubts about who you should commission for a tattoo, look no further than Frequency.

Great vibe, very cozy, doesnt make you feel overwhelmed like I have at other places (and Ive been to many a tattoo shop) I have been tattooed by all of the artists that are there currently as of today, 7/24/16, And Ive been happy with all the work they have done on me. John has been doing most of my work and he has a great artistic way with his work and has a very gentle hand. I DEFINITELY recommend coming here for all your tattoo needs!!

I finally found my tattoo artist, John Howie. Two tattoos so far and working on the next one. Johns designs are amazing and exactly what I wanted. Both John and David are extremely friendly and I finally feel comfortable in a tattoo shop after over 20 years of getting tattooed. If you live in the tri-state area it is so worth the trip to East Falls, PA (Philly) to see these guys.

After many years of searching I have finally found my home town tattoo shop! What an amazing place! My brother, best friend, and I all went to get tattooed by Ian and each one turned out so well! Such a comfortable and great environment with great work. Dave was there too doing some killer work. If you want some amazing work this is the place to go!

Dave did my first ever tattoo (and my second) and Anna has done three. From my first time at the shop to the last, Ive felt super comfortable there. Everyone is down to earth and helpful. Theyre all incredibly talented and dedicated artists. I recommend Frequency to everyone whether they ask or not. 10/10. I would let them all tattoo my face.
