Love this store to death but this past week some of the employees were very noticeably not on point. Been coming to this store since it first opened and this is the first time I EVER felt uncomfortable. I hope the managers can tell the workers please to leave their personal problems or stress behind. They were audible in their bad customer service...well one actually. Even tho it was only one that messed up my morning. Why should I get a bad mood thrown at me when I was being super nice? :-( Also, there was no courtesy to roll my paper, so I had to go to another employee. I should not have to do that. Also, I encountered a few employees this week and today not knowing the sales and kept questioning me. I hope you can inform everyone about sales so it wont cause a hassle at the register. I dont know what was going on of this third week of June 2015, but everyone seemed either pissy, out of it, or plain unhelpful. Shout out to the HELPFUL and considerate workers that did help me tho!

The atmosphere in the Chestnut St. store is inspiring and the staff is very friendly. The store is well organized and their selection is HUGE. They seem to have almost every artistic discipline well represented. Ive always enjoyed my shopping experience there. However, they could do better at competing with Utrecht by offering more sales more frequently and stop charging customers a ten dollar "membership" fee for the privilege of saving a measly 10%. This is where Utrecht has the edge and why I make my big purchases from them. Utrecht sales offer coupons that give you from 20 to 30% off on a given week...and their "membership" discount card is FREE, which is why I shop there more frequently. With that said, I still love shopping at Blick for items that Utrecht wont have at a better price.

Its a scam when they have "discount coupons" or sale. They want you to come and buy things but then you dont get the discount as your item was ALREADY discounted. When you go there to buy you buy, not investigate which one you CANT buy with the coupons. Also, at the store its more expensive than online price. They will say that you MAY get a discount after comparing online price and store price while you are checking out at the counter and bla bla. Most of the staff are good and helpful but I wonder why they have very few staff that looks too mean and have unfriendly tone. That ruins the whole experience at the store. Conclusion: People who loves arts, are being looted by Dick Blick.

Huge store with just about everything you could need. Prices are on the expensive side, though. I bought several things because of the advertised "buy more save more" deals, only to find out at the register that the signs are misleading. You dont get the deal for spending $45 as advertised, you only get it if you spend $45 on that specific product AND brand. I pointed out the deception to the employees, but they refused to honor it and just helplessly blamed corporate. One employee even argued with me, that the signs "arent wrong, just badly worded." Rather than feeling excited about my new materials, I feel taken advantage of.

Called Blick to see if they had a certain type of photo paper because I didnt want to make the long trip down there to not find any. The guy told me they did have plenty of it. I get there and another Blick rep told me they dont supply that type of paper. Uncoordinated, unprofessional, and a general sense of them not knowing whats going on. Save yourself the trouble and just buy online.

I have only just discovered Blick. An artist friend shared a visit to the shop with me and i am excited to save money enough to buy a colored pencil set i saw there. I was there about a month ago and I wish I got his name, but, this older guy who worked there was not only helpful with everything I needed, but, mentioned a few tips about painting that I probably would have only picked up from taking a class. Thanks Blick! ...and their prices are good too.

Great customer service. Very helpful. Nice variety ... Pretty good prices (especially compared to other art supplies stores in Philly) . Works for me as an artist whos usually scraping together money trying to get supplies lol. Get the discount card too.

Went to get supplies to pack and post a large oil painting overseas and the guys were fantastic. They helped pick the most appropriate materials so it would be too expensive and helped pack the painting up safely. Great service.
