Dispite the fact that there was big fight that broke out here after Christmas last year; or even the fact that there was a shooting that happened here on the weekend; I still think this mall is doing okay. Yes I know it aint as good as it was back then; but I still think this mall is one of the best in western Pennsylvania. At least one of the better malls in western Pennsylvania. So what if there are a few vacancies in this mall; at least most of it is still occupied. Some of them are being filled and even expanded. I dont think this mall is a dump! I was bummed out that RadioShack left the mall and moved to the Miracle Mile strip mall; and I also didnt like the fact that FYE is no longer here. At least theres more hope for this mall than there is for the Clearview Mall in Butler, PA. One thing that truned me on for this mall is not only the fact that it was in the 1978 version of Dawn of the Dead; but the fact that they have an arcade in this mall! When was the last time you saw that in a mall!? Let along have a laser tag! How cool is that! Cons: The mall is located in a bad neighborhood and there seems to be a lot of problems lately with another brawl that happened in a restaurant thats attach to the mall. Luckily this brawl didnt happen in the mall (thank goodness) and the restrooms get kind of filthy sometimes; especially the Food Court restrooms.

I grew up going to the Monroeville Mall "years" ago when it was still in its prime & cool place to hang out. Of course my friends & I would also shop here as well - they had all the coolest stores! Then I moved out of the area so it wasnt convenient to shop there any more. I went there many years later with my daughter & was utterly surprised @ how pathetic the whole mall appeared. It looked like no updates had been done since last there, only minimal maintenance. And I found myself a little frightened on more than one occasion. It still seems to be a hang out for teens & young adults. But their actions (in some, not all) crossed a line, that we as teenagers long ago never would have thought about let alone put our thoughts to fruition. They not only scared shoppers away but @ times that seemed to be their only goal. I saw people entering & turning right around to exit. I believe we got a few things but not everything intended & went home. I still like the layout of the Monroeville Mall over the Ross Park Mall but will shop @ Ross Park any day over Monroeville for my feeling of safety.

Monroeville Mall is an excellent, modernized mall. Well known for being the shooting location of the original 1978 "Dawn of the Dead", the mall has since been renovated in recent years and now contains a variety of stores including your typical shoe stores, clothing outlets, pop-culture shops, and other stores. I give it props for being very clean and modernized, as well as having tons of nice restaurants in and around the building. If I had to say anything bad, I would dock a point for the sheer size and bathroom locations. This place is not very friendly towards older folks that may not like walking far; its HUGE. Although it is accessible and does have elevators, its still an intimidating size for my handicapped mother to travel through. Regarding the bathrooms, I wish there were more of them, and the main ones are down a very very long corridor. Despite the mall being very nice/modernized, I think the food court could be a little nicer and bigger as well. Overall, very nice mall, worth a visit if you are into malls. Just be weary, very large to walk and not a lot of bathrooms.

Who cares if its not like Ross Park; and why would anyone shop at Pittsburgh Mills? That mall dying. I mean its an average mall so stop bashing this mall! I think its fine the way it is. So what if it doesnt have many high-end luxury stores. If you want that then goto Ross Park or maybe even South Hills Village! I mean I still think its it doing okay; even after the brawl that happened there after Christmas, or even the shooting that happen there two weeks ago. Hopefully the new security measures will help keep this mall safe. I mean you cant go wrong with a mall that has appeared in many movies like "Sex Tape"; especially the original Dawn Of The Dead movie. This mall is famous (in both a good way and maybe even a bad way) and has some history to it! When I went there; most if not all of the people were nice. So I would visit it any day rather than goto Ross Park because that mall is overrated.

My high score was due to the excellent service I received at the Macys Store in the Monroeville Mall, the Sales Rep was Melanie Artmeyer on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, this Sales Rep went above and beyond the call of duty in helping me to find the items I was looking for were blouses that had threw quarter length sleeves and the assistance she showed me as I stated was beyond the call in fact it was not busy and Melanie called Macys in the King of Prussia to see if they had the (3) blouses that was too small at this Macys and the other Macys had the size I needed and my Macys Card information was give to the Sales Rep in the King of Prussia name Snelhal. I have received (2) of the (3) blouses that was ordered I am pleasantly surprised with this quick turn around service.

Although its store selection outweighs that of its closest competitor, the Pittsburgh mills, this location has suffered other issues which render it an undesirable destination. This mall is simply too often the site of violence of all kinds. With the latest being fighting (large groups even, gangs if you will), shootings, and stabbings. And when people arent being placed in life threatening situations, the outlandish adolescents who are always on scene will leave you on edge through their juvenile ways. Screaming profanities, threatening others, shoplifting, etc... Monroeville as a whole has gone downhill with its general population.

With malls on a decline, this is one of the few that still have enough trending stores to make it worth visiting. The mall environment is nice and fairly modern while still catering to many different age groups. There are plenty of resturants in the area to enjoy, and with the addition of the movie theater, there is also plenty to do. Recently there has been numerous altercations and fights which have been brought on by school rivalries and social media. This has resulted in increased police presence and yet still more random fights. If these continue, I am not sure what will happen to this mall in years to come.

Malls are a dying breed sadly. A place you would once gravitate too on the weekend with family and friends is now becoming a thing of the past. With online shopping and poor parenting making for a less then desirable experience. Monroeville mall is no different, with the recent rise of violence in the mall and a now bloody past, and I am not talking about zombies ;) however, with the addition of a G. A. Romero memorial site and the new upscale XD theater. It is a decent place still. Also they have electric Go-Karts out back that are indoors. Just be sure you call and make a appointment if you plan to do that.
