This is a true story. Many of the reviews of this particular Pepboys are negative, this may appear to be one. It is not. I blew my tire out at 2 AM Wednesday morning. I called Pepboys at 11:30 am after getting the spare on in the city and they told me itd take about an hour to an hour and a half. I had already called my work and let them know I was going to be in at about 2 hours late (supposed to be in at noon) and dropped my car off. They called pretty much right on time, 12:45 and told me I could pick up the car in 15 minutes. When I arrived a mechanic went to get my keys from the front seat and realized they were missing. He came back out from the garage and was very upfront about they had gotten busy earlier and the mechanic working on it believed he put the key on the front seat, but now its not there. From the garage door window I could see other mechanics searching the garage looking for my key. He assured me they were looking and they were going to check the cameras to see if they could locate when the mechanic put them down. I asked if I would be allowed to search the garage as well, because I knew I wouldnt be satisfied without being able to look for the key myself. They had no problem with it. I walked back and after looking in the car, around the car and in a few different corners of the workshop before calling it quits. The mechanic asked if I had a spare. I told him that I did, but Id have to go get it. He then let me know that the new tire and service was comped due to the hassle and that they would make multiple spare keys for me, free of charge. He had another mechanic drive me to my house where I looked everywhere for it. Unsure whether I had the right spare the mechanic suggested that I at least let him take it back and see. He then offered to drop me off at work, despite it being about 15 minutes the opposite direction of Pepboys. I took him up on it and made it to work at roughly 2:30 pm. No harm, no foul given the lost key scenario my co-workers found hilarious. I call at 5 pm to ask what the status of my car was and the mechanic working the counter nonchalantly said, Yeah, weve got it ready for you and we made some spare keys. I picked up my car and the man working the counter said, Did they really not call you? I apologize. And he apologized twice more before I left. The lesson here is that these guys might screw up, but theyll go to some unexpected lengths to fix it.

DONT EVER GO HERE!!! The staff at this store are terrible people, Especially the management! If I could rate them negative stars I would... My fiancee had her car serviced here twice. The first for breaks a few months ago and most recently an oil change a few days ago. After getting the car back, the break lights just stopped working. The problem was brought to our attention when my fiancee was pulled over and warned by a police officer. So my fiancee called them and was told off over the phone by uncaring poorly mannered staff. SO afterwards I spoke to the manager, (after waiting on hold for almost an eternity.) He was equally unhelpful and uncaring. They had the nerve to tell us it wasnt their problem! They seem only concerned about meeting their sales quotas and draining every last dollar out of your wallet. NO DECENT SHRED OF CUSTOMER SERVICE WHAT SO EVER. Im sure the founders of the company would be disgusted if they knew how these people treat customers. We will never go back to Pep Boys ever again and recommend all of our friends and family to steer clear of this place. If you like spending huge amounts of your hard earned cash, being treated like crap. and like more "mysterious" problems with your car right after they "Fixed" it. Then by all means and go here. If you are smart you will find a local garage that will respect you and treat you like the valued customer you are.

They are rip off when it comes to state inspections. Filing a complaint with the PA State Emissons. Our car passed everything except the windshield and the tint on back window. Got that fixed and took it back in and they failed it because of one windshield wiper had a small tear about one eight long. They would not change one it had to be both windshield wipers. The tear was not there before we took it back in. Also they told us we would have to replace the emissions sticker since they put it on the windshield that had to be replaced. They used the old one that they said we couldnt use. Also we took our truck in to get the brakes fixed and they said there was nothing wrong with them. We took it in for inspections, which was only about 50 miles put on it since they said there was nothing wrong with the brakes. Now they said the brakes and rotors needed to be replaced before it would pass inspection. They told us it was up to the inspector with what they would pass. I will never use pep boys again.

Never ever go here, get a vehicle towed here, or deal with these people! They will rip you off for every penny telling you all these problems you dont have. I had a break down in Jersey and this was the closest place to my home I could get my vehicle towed. They insisted it was my fuel pump. Less than a year ago I had my cousin help me replace the feul pump so i knew it was not the issue. They told me the last person to install the fuel pump smashed it up good and thats why it failed. I know that is not true as i watched the install. I kept telling them i thought it was a grounding issue of some sort but they insisted it was the pump. $450 dollars later they replaced the pump. Whem i went to pick up the vehicle the battery was drained completely dead because whoever was working on it left the dome lights on. After i got home i shut the engine off and it will not start again. Like i said my problem was not the fuel pump and this just proves their incompetence.

I needed to get some new tires to pass an upcoming inspection, and Pep Boys was one of the places that I price-shopped at. They gave me a decent price on the tires, but the great part was the service I received at the store. When the guy at the service desk, Garry, first told me how long to expect it to take, I was frustrated because that would make me late for another appointment I had to go to. I asked him if theres anything they could do to speed up the installation, he said hed see what he could do. I was pleasantly surprised when it got done in under half the amount of time I was originally told, and I was able to make it to my other appointment. Thanks Garry and the service techs (sorry I didnt get your names) who worked on my car!

We pulled in with a friends van that wasnt charging. My local auto parts store can check your battery with a tester while your battery is still in the vehicle - the person we talked to wanted us to take it out of the vehicle and bring it into the store. My friend had turned off his van and it would not re start. They had 4 empty bays but we were told that they probably couldnt check the vehicle until the next day - (even though they apparently had mechanics on duty ) we were over 100 miles from home and needed help - none was offered. I went to Auto Zone where they advertised free battery and alternator testing and bought a new battery for my friend which got him home. This Pep boys was of no help.
