Full disclosure, I am a Whole Foods fan and shareholder. Also, Ive been in just about every Whole Foods in Philly (Plymouth Meeting, North Wales, South Street, Art Museum, Jenkintown) so I was thrilled they finally opened one in Allentown. The location is fantastic. Right in between 222 and the bypass. I have gone to dinner a couple times. The "hot" food was room temperature. Same goes for Pizza. The salad bar items are delicious but there are many that just dont taste good. Some of the recipes could be simplified. The bar is nice because you can eat there and watch TV. Plus theres a coffee/tea kiosk right at the bar. Both are open until the store closes which is cool. My other gripe is that the staff there could be a bit friendlier. The store is huge. Produce selection is wonderful. Plenty of frozen food and bakery items. The deli is great for fresh sliced meats. I wish they had a bigger kosher selection. But Im giving it 4 stars because I think they just need to go that extra 25% to be a 5 for me. Like I said, I am biased because I am a fan and shareholder but there was just something missing for me.

First Week - Beautiful produce! Amazing food bar. Fabulous meats. Warm, friendly staff. I cant rave enough. And so it should be since it just opened. Lets see if it holds up over time. After a Month - The glamor wears off a bit. The produce section is still very nice. More organic than Wegmans, though not a whole lot. Overall less selection than Wegmans. The fish has looked ok, but Wegmans has generally looked better and bigger selection. The hot Food bar looks good, but doesnt change much. I do like it better than wegmans, healthier overall. Salad bar is significantly better than wegmans, far more vegetables and salad ingredients to choose. The pizza is very hit or miss, mostly miss. It is lumpy, burned, toppings grossly uneven etc. Once and a while there is a good pie or two, and then it is rather tasty. Some of the staff is professional, a lot of the staff is being trained and doesnt seem to have much experience in a grocery store setting. Still better than 90% of the grocery stores if you are looking for high quality foods and organics. Be ready to pay of course. I prefer Wegmans overall at this point.

Nice clean store, super friendly helpful staff (especially Nicole in produce/groceries and Tim in the butcher shop are outstanding they go above and beyond). Most items seem to be out of stock a lot of times. Management needs to start stocking dry aged steak and Wegmans will officially be crossed off my list. Also staff in the bakery love giving customers the run-around. Try getting a family pack of oatmeal raisin cookies or bread and youd regret the frustration it comes with. A few select staff - only one young guy (forgot his name) so far offered to bake us a family pack of oatmeal raisin cookies in about 30 minutes whiles we shopped in the store. All the other bakery employees will cop an attitude and try to lecture you about how its company policy for you to call a day or two ahead of time if you want oatmeal raisin cookies just to turn around and go back to chat/gossip. This has happened to me six times in a row, when this store was opened I recall just going in and grabbing a family pack whiles waiting/shopping.

Whole Foods in Allentown, PA is one of the newbie stores in the Whole Foods system. As soon as you walk in the store you know it. Wide aisles which give you plenty of viewing space to see all the organic brands this iconic store offers. The cold and hot buffets are filled with yummy and healthy stuff, the coffee and wine bars are design for the consumer. Hats off to the graphic design team who laid out the physicals and images like no other grocery store you have ever been in. The place wants to make you want to get fit. You can find 1 out of 3 customer service persons who will bend over backwards to help you with questions and product location. The others should be fired! Sorry for this negative but it doesnt negate from my 5 star rating. Human Resources needs to be more selective in who they hire.

I love Whole Foods Market! And, I have been to many around the U.S. This particular store was clean and felt new. I appreciated how the place was set up in that, in that as a vegetarian, it was nice that meat section was setup in its own area & I did not have to walk through it to get to something I needed. I gave this WFs store 3 stars because I felt there was more work that needed to be done to pull it all together properly. There were a few things I noticed, like one of the frozen food freezers was icing up around the doors and needed attention. Nice people running the store, very happy to please the customers, very accommodating.

Great for boutique snacks, great pizza. Pastries and cookies from their bake shop were unimpressive, and some were downright mediocre. Not sure if GMO and hormones are needed to make a good cookie, but thats what it seems. I just cant imagine doing my shopping there, too much money. Perhaps if you are a food zealot. But for us its about unusual brands we cant get elsewhere. In fact many of which I see showing up at Giant and Wegmans at much lower prices. I MUST point out the pizza is fantastic. The breads also very good.

Very disappointing. Fresh fish.seafood department much too limited in the selection. Fresh meat section does not identify meats (beef) quality as to prime, choice, etc. The produce department has organic and nonorganic items priced the same. Maybe we are just spoiled having the Naples, FL store available in the winter offering a much larger selection even with its wine department taking up whole corner of the store. Giant, Weiss and farmer markets better serves our needs and pocketbook

So happy we now have a Whole Foods in the Lehigh Valley but Im subtracting a star from perfection due to the price points and the fact that some selections are not as healthy as they look - always read your labels! Even though I knew exactly what to expect here and the shopping experience here is beautiful, there is still something that is too commercialized about this place. I prefer to support smaller businesses, but for items I cant always get other places I do shop for them here.

Great brand new store with a wonderful new staff thats learning every day. This place has a bar, tons of ready to eat food to choose from, and a large open floor. Plenty of room for customers. Its generally pretty quiet and a great experience. Theyre sometimes out of things but theyre also brand spanking new and kind of figuring it out as they go. Would highly recommend. The service is great all around. Every department!

We just drove 30 minutes to get things that we very much needed after work, an HOUR before closing and found out they closed with a piece of paper taped to the door... This is incredibly poor business practice and you just lost my business. Id recheck the business practices if they want to maintain customers, as there were many people very upset with this unreliable stores poor professionalism.
