I have never dealt with a less professional, disorganized, organization in all my life!!!! A lobotomized sloth would be able to collect donations better than the workers at this thrift store! I had heard teen challenge thrift store did home donation pick ups and seeing that I had a large cabinet in my garage that previous owners of our home had stored paint and other misc garage things in, which I wanted to be rid of for some time but could not transport in my small car. I decided to call the store to see if they would accept the donation along with some other items. I did a thorough job explaining the cabinet to the representative who answered the phone they said no problem they would pick it up for ten dollars on Monday at 10am. The representatives were three hours late coming to my house, they did not provide any courtesy call to say they would be late, when I called the thrift store to try and verify when and if they would be there I was disconnected on the first call when the representative tried to transfer me to another department and failed. I then told by another representative when I called back that "They didnt know where the people with the truck were but I was on the list for a 10am appointment they didnt know why the delivery people hadnt arrived and were apparently unable to reach them when they called." At 1pm as I tried to leave for a appointment the drivers finally arrived blocked my car, offered a weak excuse that they hadnt arrived on time because they had been told I had cancelled the pick up, then after taking my money they took most of the smaller items but refused to take the cabinet that I called them for in the first place because they didnt think it would sell. In short I wish I had just used the $10 towards renting a truck to transport the cabinet to goodwill which I will now have to do. In the future I will donate to any charity over this one and would suggest anyone else wanting to donate items to not even bother with this place.

This place is an absolute disgrace. Most, if not all, of their items are donated, and 80% of my findings within the store are priced over what new retail would have listed. Thrift stores like this one are supposed to help those in need. Not charge $200 for a couch with tears in it. $200 for a scratched, chipped, and cracked twin bed made of wood that retails for $139. Honestly, you will SAVE money buying brand new at Fred Meyer. This store is so incredibly overpriced, there is no way for the average "new" family starting out to buy stuff here. When I asked why the inflation in prices, I was told "we are a high class thrift store that gives these items back to the public!" Well, not at those prices. Then he proceeded to say that "if you have no money, maybe you shouldnt come in." Well, I WAS, looking for a few things to help out a family member in need. Meaning, I do have the money, and it would have been yours had you not treated my wife and I the way you did. I feel horrible for the locals having to put up with this store. I turned to Craigslist and gave one family almost 650$ to get what I wanted for a family that needed. Remember people, greedy people get back what they put in when the time comes! This store, needs an adjustment badly!

Teen Challenge is the FIRST place I go when I need furniture. I can find more furniture and better deals here than if I spent time looking through Craigs List, garage sales, or other thrift stores. When I see the guys out front waving their 50% off signs, its time to stop in to see whats new. Last time I was there, I spent $18 on a hutch and bookcase that I painted white and stacked together. They are currently being used as a display case for plates and pretty things. This afternoon, Im heading over there again to pick up a tv for the family room. I know I can get something around 25" for about $15-$20, and since their tvs are always plugged in and turned on, I know the thing will work when I get it home. Maybe Ill find a sturdy tv stand that I can paint to match the display case. ...I love Teen Challenge.

Just last weekend we got 3 VERY nice office chairs (one high back with arms, one low back no arms, and one leather with arms), a full size metal bed frame, a jigsaw, a wood chisel, and a toy for my daughter for.. under $60! Time, money, and hassle we saved.. Priceless! Always a good deal, no hassle on returns/exchanges, when somethings not right; they make it right, and it helps troubled teens learn life skills, stay off drugs, and get back on track! I 100% support that! Id much rather donate, and shop here than at Goodwill... When we need something for a great price that doesnt have to be new, we always check Teen Challenge 1st! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK FOLKS!

This is my favorite thrift store in Salem. I mostly shop for clothing and I find it all to be VERY reasonably priced. The prices that I see are always better than goodwill and I even find a lot of things that are better quality. But the best part about this thrift store is the feeling that you get after you purchase, that you are actually helping people! I get a better feeling after shopping here than I do good at Goodwill. At Teen Challenge I can directly see what they are doing to better the community and help those in need. I love this thrift and would recommend it to everyone!

This place is great to visit when your son or daughter is in need of new furnature as they leave the house. Other people have mentioned this as well, but they currently have a nice collection of office chairs donated by the Hilton; the person I was talking to at the store mentioned the chairs were worth $750 while they were new, and they were still in near-optimal condition. We got the chair for ~$80. It is also important to note that the thrift store has a 20% off sale day every Saturday, so if you plan to make a purchase, then is the day to do it.

Weve gotten some amazing deals here. Theyre willing to haggle, which is a definite plus. There are some items that I pass on, feeling theyre overpriced, Ive only ever haggled on furniture, though it occurs to me now that I should try with it all. Wide selection, friendly staff, if rather laid back - but when the staff is lounging on one of the couches for sale, theyre pretty open to giving you something for 1/2 of the price marked, so it works for me.

In some ways it is a fantastic yard sale, in other ways it falls short of being an excellent thrift store. Very friendly folks, not always punctual with their hours. Still, it is worth a peek when you are passing through. I think what they do not have is a color coding system that weeds out stuff that has been there for years, so there is stuff that just sits there until it sells, sits there for years.

This is a great place to go for a variety of things. I always head to the books and movies section, but they have a lot of clothes, dishes, kids toys, etc. The staff are always friendly and it goes for a good cause. They often have 50% off sales so just watch for the people outside with the signs. We keep coming back here!
