Holly literally took one look as we came through the door, grabbed a bra, and told my wife to try it on. Looking at the tags, my wife said theres no way this bra will fit. Holly patiently repeated: try it on. They had both been in this situation many times before: a knight seeking The One True Bra, hoping this will finally be it but not wanting to get her hopes up, and the wise woman patiently assuring the knight that if shed just drink the damn potion already everything would become clear. But my wife worried. She had been searching for so long: she had shopped for bras in far-off countries, survived being fitted by officious merchants with measuring tapes draped over their shoulders, braved the lingerie stores on the Las Vegas strip, even battled the harpies at FoH and lived to tell of it. And every time she has come back disappointed. But she finally did try on the no-way-will-that-fit bra that Holly offered; it fit perfectly, and she hasnt stopped talking about it since. She was overjoyed, almost to tears. The bras Holly selected do what they are supposed to do: they provide support, without strap marks and an aching back; they fit just right, with cups that... cup, I guess... loose enough to be comfortable but not wardrobe malfunction loose, tight enough but not constriction-mark tight; they look great. She looks great. The only complaint Ive heard from her is "why wasnt there a Holly in all of those other stores, over all those other years?" When I read about The Pencil Test, it sounded too good to be true. Its not. Holly knows that no number of selections will help if you are looking for the wrong thing to begin with. And she was eerily prescient, correctly fitting my wife with a glance from 15 feet away. She truly is The Bra Whisperer.

My friend asked if I wanted to hang out in Alberta on my last day in Portland. I looked at a travel site to see what we can do there. Then I saw The Pencil Test. I have been looking for a new strapless bra for a very long time now that I know what my correct cup size is. I knew this place would have it. I asked one of the ladies to assist me with a fitting just to make sure that my size hasnt changed (especially because I used a YouTube video to figure out what my correct size is). She verified as I was wearing the correct size just by looking at me. She explained how my rib cage is set up, and why certain brands wont fit me right. I told my friend she should get fitted too just because. Turns out she was "misled," as the woman who helped us stated. And its true. Were led to think were a different size because either misconception of how a womans body should look like and/or a certain chain store using dumb measuring methods. We both purchased our bras, and the woman who helped us gave each of us a list of brands that were sure to fit us. And she gave me a recommendation for a store in Berkeley, which I am totally going to check out. I feel bad for not knowing this womans name, but she is awesome! So full of knowledge and body positivity. And we all could use some bodypositivity. If you are more on a buxom side like me, The Pencil Test is a must if you need undergarments that will fit your bodacious curves. Side note: They have an awesome playlist!

Went to this shop after looking for a shop for big busted ladies. I found several reviews that all pointed to The Pencil Test. The owner there is AMAZING at what she does. Ive heard other ladies refer to her as "the bra whisperer" and its true. Trying to find a bra in my size is difficult enough, smaller band and larger cup, and I was on a search for a good sports bra so I could start a running regime. The store youll miss if youre not looking for it, but once I found it I knew I was in the right place. She fitted me quickly. She was very efficient and professional. She knew just by looking at me what I needed. The pricing was about average for bras and lingerie. Ill be going back in a couple weeks for regular bras this time and am glad I have found a good place with a reliable fitter.

I learned I have sensitive skin and different anatomy! I was so excited I walked out with 3 bras only to return them all the next day due to the extreme uncomfortability. My breasts are close together which caused the plunge to dig into my sternum. The staff was great, they took back the bras no problem and gave me another fitting. Even though my perfect size was not available in the store Holly was able to find me a close fit so that I could order that brand online. I now have 4 coming! Thank you Holly, Whitney and the rest of the staff, you strive for perfection and didnt give up (I could see slight frustration but thats understandable when your customer just tried every bra in her size on and wasnt happy with what was available).

The best bra store I have ever been to! I have a hard to find size, and even worse when put in my correct size. The women here are wonderful at fitting you and making sure you look and feel great in your bra. They teach you as they fit you as well. I tried on 10 bras because just to make sure the fit was good. I ended up buying 3, but I grabbed 1 wrong size. Im hoping I can return it for the correct size. The bras are spendy, but you are paying for a correctly fitting bra so it is so worth it. I recommend anyone to visit the ladies at Pencil Test to get fitted. I thought I was a G ... boy was I wrong!

I stopped in about two weeks ago to get fitted for new bras. The employee who helped me was extremely nice and helpful. She found a range of bras that fit properly after just sizing me up and having me try on one style. They have quite a selection of bras in larger sizes, which is what I was looking for, and the prices are pretty typical for quality lingerie. I ended up buying four of them and have been wearing them over the last couple weeks and they are so comfortable and make me look and feel amazing! Ill definitely be returning!

Brought my girlfriend here because... Well its a shop that has a wide variety of cup sizes that walmart simply cannot provide. Lady asked a few questions and said "try this on for a size guide and ill point you to a section of everything that will fit" sure enough the lady nailed it with a look and that one was perfect the first try and they had a decent selection. The price compared to how well they fit/look/feel is a bargain. $120 for 3 that have not shown any problematic wear in a year is a deal to me!

Our original destination was Fredericks of Hollywood for Bras. When that fell through, we were given a recommendation for the Pencil Test. IT WAS THE BEST THING THAT COULD HAVE EVER HAPPENED!! Very friendly, knowledgeable staff and me an my girlfriends are HIGHLY satisfied with our purchases. The fit, comfort and selection was beyond words. We are planning another trip in a couple of months with a few of our other friends that need to be fitted properly! Thank you so much!!!
