FULL MARKS for my latest interaction with City Mac!! I have been a customer of the Mac Pac since it opened (eons ago) and also of TD Curran before their recent name change to "City Mac" I have always been treated well, and been pleased with the way business was conducted. Plus, given that I live in a awkward location they are perfectly situated. So, for a number of reasons, I would NOT take my business elsewhere. This time, however, they REALLY OUTDID themselves. I am SO VERY impressed!! My Support person was Ben, and my Service person was Andrew. Each one met (and exceeded) my expectations AND it didnt take forever LOL My employee and I came in to replace a work computer. After asking some clarifying questions and getting succinct, clear answers from Ben, we chose a 21.5 inch Retina Display iMac with Apple Care. We needed a (seamless) data transfer including MS Office files which would require a software upgrade to match the OS of the newer unit. Ben gave me a goo composite of options on how to best cover the upgrade in MS Office. We set up my choice and made the appropriate information available for the transfer to take place. Ben and I agreed that the old equipment was of little value to us, so he offered me a small trade in amount to take it off my hands and to professionally wipe it for me. Ben took all the information from me that he would need to complete the data transfer, and explained to my employee what to expect when she opened the computer at work the next day. Having purchased many new computers over the years, I had expected about 24 hours for the transfer of data, especially since we were starting late in the day. The sales transaction was completed and we were out the door in less than 1.5 hours. This was definitely a first!! Ben had written all of our agreed expectations on the SALES receipt and given us EACH a copy, as well as placed one with the new computer. He indicated that he had started the data transfer before we left the store. The next morning I got a call from Andrew (in Service) who was completing the data transfer. He needed clarification on a small matter but said he would be calling my employee within the hour to let her know that the computer would be ready by 1:30 PM. As it turns out there was a freeway closure on our side of the river on Saturday, but my employee picked up the computer this morning, before work. When I called her at about 11:00 AM she had this to say:...... "Everything is PERFECT! Even the printer/scanner works perfectly! They updated the printer software/firmware so everything runs just like the old one, only WAY better. All the files are exactly where I expect them and they all open. It looks and feels just like the old computer except it is WAY faster, and the screen is WAY clearer." I am DELIGHTED!! I could not be happier... Thank you Ben and Andrew!!! Thank you City Mac for hiring the RIGHT kind of people who pay attention to details and dont just assume it will "somehow work out" ... This could have been, no, not a disaster (of course not :) - LOL) - but bumpy. Certainly, in my experience, many of the previous transfers have been less than smooth. THIS ONE, though, was smooth as silk! ONE THOUSAND GOLD STARS to ALL of you!!

I have been a customer at Mac Pac for 14 years and have purchased several iMacs, iPads, MacBooks, software and peripherals. In addition, when I have a software or hardware issue, which is rare, I always take my hardware to them for service. Over the years, I was able to build a personal relationship with the manager, Bill Cantrell but to my great disappointment, he retired. I live in Vancouver but Mac Pac is only ten minutes away so the location in convenient to say nothing of avoiding sales tax. Today I went in to buy a new iMac with a retail price of $1295. I walked in the door and a robust fellow with a beard named Josh Wilcox greeted me with a "hello". I waited for him to say "can I help you" and after a long pause standing there silent, I started to feel uncomfortable and asked if there was anybody that could help me. His reply was "I said Hello". I indicated that I was interest in buying a new iMac and an external optical drive at which point he disappeared into the back room and reappeared with a new iMac and said they were out of optical drives. I asked him a few questions about my new iMac but he seemed somewhat ambivalent about answering my questions. In my opinion, Josh has about as much personality as a wet noodle. I hope management will give Josh some intensive training on customer service especially when said customers buy big ticket items. I will continue to shop at Mac Pac but next time I will avoid dealing with Josh.

I was recommended this place by a colleague and it is very conveniently located between work and home for me. Far more convenient than any of the Apple Stores. I was pleased with the look of the store and the location. I was really let down by my sales associate though, I am a lifelong Apple user and whenever I go out of my way to go somewhere that isnt Apple I tend to test their knowledge and willingness to meet my needs. Brian was his name. If anyone comes here do not I repeat DO NOT work with him. He knows nothing about Apple computers, he gave me not only false information about the Macs we looked at but he didnt know the prices either. He used a lot of filler words um... uh... yeah... know what Im sayin?... Well uh no Brian I dont know what your saying because you didnt tell me anything. I was really hoping to buy a new Mac Pro for my studio but he didnt even bother to suggest it to me. The whole encounter felt awkward and as warm and professional as an interaction at wal mart. Uh I think its on Aisle 6 you knawmean?! Even writing out this review leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Good luck City Mac. I think our studio will take our business over to Simply Mac if we are trying to avoid Downtown...

Lookout when dealing with these guys. My boss spent close to a hundred thousand dollars buying several new macs and a network system and we had all kinds of problems. First they installed the Kona capture cards into the wrong slots. Then they used 3rd party ram that caused our systems to crash all the time. We had 16GB ram per machine and when we took it to the Apple tech they put in just 2GB of certified ram and were able to render faster. We also would have had an easier time working with Apple but we were informed by them that Macpac is not actually certified (theyre only authorized to sell Apple products). When all is said and done weve lost weeks of down time between the macs and server crashes and have lost thousands of dollars from our clients because our delivery was late. Unless youre doing the most basic of setups and dont plan on needing service after the sale beware.

Ask for Doug. The other sales guys seemed cool, too, but we feel so fortunate that Doug happened to be the guy who offered to help us on the first day. He spent nearly 90 minutes! answering our questions with no pressure on our visit. He is smart, personable and so easy to talk to and he really listens to what YOU need out of the machine rather than always trying to sell you the dozens of cool things that apple do. We went away to think about for a week and then took another 45 mins of his time on the second trip asking more questions. In the end he gave us a great package and made a genuine effort to get us price reductions on nearly everything we bought, plus he gave us both 3 free classes at their training center. The difference between here and the Mac store? Doug told a story. The Mac Store staff feature dumped and left us confused.
