Terrible service and uncandid support. Today [11/27/16] I had the unpleasant encounter with your assistant store manager "josh" at your clackamas location. This person obviously has no desire to interact with anyone of some intellect but also happens to not have a grasp on customer service and what that entails. I had a purchase made at another location (Beaverton) In what I was assured would be what I needed however that fell terribly short. Not one but two sales persons were asked the same questions on their "professional skill set and service"... "will this set of speakers work with this specific deck" to which both sales reps replied "yes, absolutely - yes, most definitely". So a purchase was made. After installation it was clear that the specified speakers were not intended to be used with the deck already installed. Which then lead to some reasearch and found that the deck specifies it is only compatible with 4ohm or higher speakers. Upon finding that information we went onto looking at the speakers purchased and found they were only 3ohm. At that point decided to call the Car Toys Beaverton store where items were orgninally purchased and discussed the specific issues having with products purchased. At that point the assistant store manager "Francisco" in Beaverton suggested a different set of speakers that were to able to meet the 4ohm requisition of the deck. This was at a slightly higher price point which was not a terrible issue as the point of purchasing an item to begin with was to spend money but of course on product that was useable. After several conversations with the assistant store manager in Beaverton and also the assistant store manager in Clackamas it was agreed at that point we could have a second transaction in Clackamas as I live closer, hassle free. Not only was there not another transaction this also wasnt hassle free. "Josh" in clackamas was not only aggressive in his demeanor he began the conversation by stating he was not going to honor the agreed terms made with "Francisco" from the Beaverton Store. He began to state that because he would be at a loss on his store he would not do this and instead charge more for the products. He then began to insist that the purchased items would have worked properly if it was installed by them rather than by myself. He began to argue that there is not a difference between 3 and 4ohm and that there should not have been any issues as they do it all the time and never have any issues. However under the same breath said "had you read the details and noticed these were 3ohm, you wouldnt have purchased/installed to begin with". In a sense that statement is true except for the fact that the question was asked already weather or not the speakers were going to work with the deck already installed (mind you this is a pioneer deck Car Toys still sells and the 4ohm or greater need was not known) After this minor discussion about connections and phasing "Josh" then began to state now that because this is an open box item he will be charging a restocking fee and of course wants more money for a different item to be purchased. Obviously we walked out of the store with our original purchase in hand and will be continuing further methods to handle this exchange of items as that is all we have intentions of doing. At this point we will have no further business with any Car Toys being we have several vehicles personally and of course we will insist that those in our network do not have to have this encounter themselves.

Google: I appreciate you posting this :) May I also point out w/all due respect: In your posted reviews, there are 2 Reviews (both 5 YEARS AGO) both w/1-Star, both only saying they moved, and 1 other Review (6 YEARS AGO) also 1-Star only saying theyve moved. Then 2 years ago, 1-Star w/NO comments, and another review 2 years ago, 3-Stars w/NO comments. My opinion this should NOT be factored in the Star count. I/weve been there 9+ times as described in our update. While we’ve waited, weve heard MANY compliments & MANY appreciation/Thank Yous. This store has some of the very BEST employees I/weve ever seen. Thank You :) My very recent Update: Jan/2014 Car Toys ~ 82nd, Portland. Continued 5-Star ~ As Good As It Gets/EXCELLENT Service! :) STEVE Is The Go To Guy. Honest, Extremely Knowledgeable, Straight Shootin, Experienced, ie; The BEST. I am, and continue to be damn picky. I have 2 previous rating reports last year. ALWAYS Consistent GREAT Service many months after the purchase! KEVIN/Fantastic Shop Install Supervisor. BRAD/Excellent Installer. I know these 3. Sorry, I do not know the others. I had an issue with my side camera. These 3 IMMEDIATELY took care of me. I truly appreciate their *continued* 5-Star Service. My and my wifes experience with these 3 Pros several times last year, and now, has been outstanding. Do yourself a favor and talk to these guys FIRST and then decide... Trust me, youll be glad you did :) Call Steve at work. Set up an appointment to go in and see him... (Shhh. Youre only young once. Spoil yourself. They have lots of neat Car Toys... even for an old guy like me) lol... Enjoy! Larry *** EXCELLENT! Car Toys 82nd Portland ~ I seldom recommend anything. Several months ago, I purchased a 4-year old black SUV. I told the salesman I wanted a back-up and side camera’s. He told me to go out to Car-Toys on 82nd. He said they do excellent work and for a factory GM camera (stamped GM and coming in a marked GM box) would be double the price and half the size of an after market. I called Car-Toys and talked to “Steve”. He seemed VERY knowledgeable re product information, comparisons, prices, etc so we drove to the store and talked to him in person. Steve really knows his stuff and got me a great price on a radio with AM/FM, HD FM, Satellite, Navigation, CD, (it’s got it all) and hooked up two camera’s. The Installers did a fantastic job putting it all in, and when we went to pick it up, Steve spent quite as bit of time explaining how it worked and said if we had a question, call him or stop by anytime. Great service! Then a couple weeks later I talked to Steve again about LED lighting on the floors in both the front and back, plus I had them put LED lighting under my SUV and side LED’s (running lights). Again; GREAT installation! Then I asked him about their Detail service. The last time I had another black SUV detailed on the outside, it had swirl marks all over it. It looked terrible. I told Steve about my prior experience and he said they take swirls out. I had them polish it and then put a sealer over the top. It is suppose to last a year. When I picked it up, with the new stereo, 2 camera’s, multiple color LED lighting inside and out, and the polish/sealer (and no swirl marks) ~ I’m picky and WOW! It looks GREAT! J I get compliments everywhere I go. If you’re also picky about your vehicle and expect a GREAT job for a good/fair price, go to Car-Toys on 82nd and talk to Steve. You’ll be happy you did! Kevin & Brad ~ GREAT shop crew! Larry

5.0 star rating 9/3/2016 I had a tough experience at car toys about 14 years ago in Colorado (Lakewood), but I wanted to give it another go. This time in Portland, OR. My 2005 Mini Coopers stock amp had burnt out, and being the audiophile I am, I needed a fix. Quick. I called a couple other car toys in the area that were closer to my home first. At one location I waited on hold for over ten minutes while the associate searched for an answer to my simple question (literally: "Can you guys install a new system in a 2005 Mini?"). After that 10 minutes the phone was disconnected. I called back, and got more of the same. I almost decided to go elsewhere but decided to call the store in Happy Valley. Almost immediately I noticed a huge difference in service, and a desire to help. I brought my car in on Sunday right as they opened, and was met with a very interactive, accommodating and knowledgeable crew of gentlemen who answered all my questions. After the install of the a new amp, wiring, deck, and all sorts of high tech gizmos, they took the time to show me how to operate everything. A week later, I started to feel that it wasnt as "bassey" as I was hoping for, and I took it back. Again, they were welcoming and made some very quick adjustments at no charge and made it sound amazing. The crew I worked with was: Ox and Andre (I assume the managers), and 3 amazing techs, Brandon, Nick and Ryan. Go talk with them, you wont be disappointed. This store provided me with an amazing experience. Thank you! Victor "Jimmy" Johnson
