If only there was a getaway from the chaos in the heart of the U of O campus, where you could relax in a latin-american style laid back shady porch setting, sipping delicious artisan coffee drinks, snacking on incredible bagel or croissant sandwiches that are miraculously somehow under $5, or grab a day-old handmade pastry that still tastes fresh for only $1, while working online surrounded by other intellectual, motivated, attractive students and other folks, where the spanish-speaking family staff are nothing but friendly any time of day... Such a place does exist, and it is one of the best treasures of Eugene: Cafe Roma. I have been coming here since 2000. I travel to hundreds of cafes on the west coast on few are on the level of the overall vibes of Cafe Roma. Enjoy.

Coffee shops should be like this place: ample seatings, plenty outlets, affordable and tasty coffee, and a wide selection of fresh sweet treats for added pleasures. I LOVE the outdoor seating area that is covered allowing you to enjoy the great weather and not get burned in the sun for those long stays doing work/study. Plus, there are outlets outside! (Not plenty but few nonetheless). No compromising good seats with charging your devices. The different areas/rooms of seating allows for the right ambience you want. The tables and chairs indoors can look a bit worn and reminds me of old cafeterias but seats nonetheless!

highly recommended! The owner is the nicest fellow ive ever met - he tried really hard to help me out of a jam, and hardly knew me. The folks that work there are almost all very happy to help meet your wants. the food that they make there? delicious. the coffee? often very good, sometimes mediocre, and once in a while very bad. theres certain baristas i simply wont order from because i know they dont know what theyre doing. if you have a bad experience, try again! there are a couple baristas there that is worth their weight in platinum.

Great study and meeting place for university students. Amazing pastries. The bathroom is pretty gross, the tables are a bit wobbly. I never buy the coffee because its too strong, but a lot of people go crazy over it because they consider themselves fanatically overworked/overdedicated caffeine addicts. Their tea selection is a fine substitute. I love the art on the walls.

Roma is good because its close to campus, has a lot of seating, and is waaaay cheaper than the Starbucks a couple doors down. Roma is not so good because it doesnt have wi-fi, it feels kind of dirty, it has really strange art on the walls and it doesnt have too many power outlets. Insider tip: If its warm, the courtyard through the doors in the back is kind of cool.

I love this place. It was my go-to spot to meet friends and talk over coffee for the four years I was at U of O and Ive been trying unsuccessfully to find a place that matches its atmosphere since then. They have great pastries, strong coffee, and fantastic spaces for conversations with small and large groups. I love this shop; I wish there were more like it.

Overflowing with local vibe, this café has great (read: strong) coffee, a variety of creative pastries, and tons of seating (try the patio out back on a summer day). If you come in frequently enough, theyll even remember your order.

THE best lattes near campus. The pastries taste homemade, and their prices are not gouged like other places on campus. This is truly my go-to place for a great latte and muffin. Wonderful. Please never change! :)

Good drinks and bakery items, small menu of delicious fruit smoothies. Small, eager friendly staff. Homey, quaint seating. Wi-Fi. Next to Starbucks, but ISNT Starbucks -- its everything I could ever dream of.

Espresso Roma has the best Americano on campus, and maybe even in town. There food and pastries are fresh and hot in the morning, and the atmosphere is lovely. I love hanging outside in their covered patio.

The staff was tolerant to me when I showed up out of my mind several times and the latte and bagle with cream cheese, avocado, red onion and other tasty ingredients saved my life in a big way.

The price was right, but the espresso was totally burned. One of the worst lattes Ive had around. Maybe it was just a bad barista, but I doubt Ill go back. Atmosphere was too funky for me.

The staff is amazingly friendly even though they dont speak very good english usually. The baked goods are really good and cheap. The coffee is good but way too strongly caffeinated for me.

I adore this cafe. The coffee is rich, the environment is earthy, colorful art everywhere, and has a social, study, and kick back atmosphere. Warning: The place will grow on you.

I ordered a coffee and there was still lipstick on the rim of the glass from a previous customer. The black coffee was good, but the muffins Ive ordered were all extremely dry.

Absolutely beautiful, oldschool atmosphere. Plenty of seating, even outdoor outlets. Avocado and cream cheese ingredients makes for yummy food. Staff encounters have been okay.

the fact is that america is void of dingy shops for artists to gather. smoking out-back attracts people of all shapes and sizes... ezra pound would be proud roma, carry on.

Amazing espresso and coffee, with a cosy and somewhat tacky atmosphere. Come to enjoy drinks alone or with small groups. Cappuccinos are served wet.

Overall great local atmosphere. My experience with the coffee quality has been hit or miss. Local alternative to the Starbucks next door.

The coffee was terrible. The food I had wasnt bad, and theres free wifi, but the coffee (which should be their specialty) was awful.

Choose Roma instead of the Starbucks next door. You can appreciate the great art hanging around shop, and the coffee is better too!

Good savory pastries. Nice juices. Coffee is way over roasted and brewed. Very dark, bitter and acidic.

Decent food but great coffee and great people. Go for service and homely interior over anything else.

Its OK. Coffee is not bad, but nothing like what it is in Rome :) . Atmosphere is calm, unexciting.
