Terrible customer service and downright deceptive! Went to get 5 knives sharpened at 2pm, waited 25 minutes and the person doing the sharpening never showed up. I went inside Ace to ask how much it cost to sharpen a knife. Was told $1. I took the knives back to the customer service desk to drop them off for later pick up, which I did not want to do but the person coming to sharper knives was unreasonably late and I had to leave. When I asked the manager of the store at the service how much it cost to get knives sharpened he said a dollar a knife, so I pulled out $5 and asked if I paid now or later, he said later. Now I know why you pay later, because they tried to charge me $30, and told me it cost $5 PER KNIFE! The entire set of knives is worth all of 5 dollars. They just bought themselves a $30 set of junk knives and lost a lifelong Ace customer because Im not giving them one cent more than I was told it cost. As a special bonus the manager asked if a man brought in the knives! What man?! I brought in the knives, dont need a man to go get knives sharpened!

I purchased an extension cord for under $13 and discovered it had only a two prong instead of a three prong grounded receptor. I came back a few days later to exchange it for the 3-prong which they had at the same price. I was told that since I had removed the cardboard sleeve and they could not find a record of my sale (by history or credit card receipt) that they would be unable to resell it and that they would not exchange it. I WAS a regular business customer since they opened going on 4-5 years now and have been happy with the convenience of shopping there even through they often are higher priced than Target or Home Depot or Lowes for example. After today I will no longer shop there. The store clerk was very apologetic and personable. The clerks in general have been first rate. This was the owner herself that refused to make the exchange and told me it was a problem because they could not resell it. Sad day for me as an unvalued customer.

ACE hardware stores survive by providing service and unusual items or quantities not found in the big box stores. The inventory of this store is comparable to other ACE stores and the employees are as helpful as any other. The problem is the manager who has some funny ideas about customer service & return policies. I tried to return 3 spray cans that hadnt been used, on the day of purchase, with receipt. They proceeded to remove the cap on each one & check the nozzle, then wanted my name, address & phone number. In this day & age I value my privacy, and when I declined I was told it was managers policy & the return wouldnt be honored. Really? $12 purchase within 4 hours, with receipt?? Nothing like making the customer feel like a liar, cheat, or at the very least untrustworthy. If they were the only game in town I might consider overlooking their policies & going back. Theyre not, and I wont.

Always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, even with phone inquiries. As for the review on knife sharpening, although Ive never used them and cant speak to their abilities (I sharpen my own generally), $5 is on the low-average end. Ive never heard of anyone doing it for a buck in the last 20 years, so it was just a misunderstanding. Its also pretty standard to drop them off and pick them up later, especially if its more than one or two, or if you want the right person to do it (its an art). To say they were trying to rip you off is downright absurd. If your knives are only worth $5 a piece they will likely not hold an edge for long anyways (except the USA made carbon series from Ontario Knife Company). Sorry for the rant, but that one star review was downright unfair!

In early July we bought an offset umbrella here. Yesterday when closing the umbrella the handle fell off for the third time and we noticed that the rope used to crank the umbrella up and down was frayed. This morning I talked to the Manager, Bill, to see if we could replace it after almost two months. He checked to see if they still had any in stock or if the warehouse still had any and when it was determined that there were 2 in stock, I was able to bring in the damaged umbrella and have it replaced. Hopefully this one will hold up but I wanted to thank Bill and Ace for being so customer responsive.

Attempted to buy a nozzle spray offered in their glossy mailer today, only to discover it was no where on the racks, [although displayed 6 on the premises when they scaned my coupon UPC codes] AND finally to learn they never even ordered it. When I asked if they could deduct $4 from any of the similar nozzles on the premises: answer was NO. How can an ACE owner not have in stock a nationally advertised/featured item in their store? Have had similar experiences in the past with their coupons and policies. So miss Falk True Value Hardware in Beaverton. NEVER had these issues shopping there.

I have never met a more helpful and knowledgeable staff! They help with EVERYTHING from the mundane to the off-label. The Ace Hardware employees here have helped me even if it has meant that they have not secured a sale. I realize that there is a place for big box stores. But for everything else, dont even waste your time there. Go to our local neighbourhood store that has the answers and the products to finish that next home improvement project - Progress Ridge Ace Hardware!

I have to agree with the one I gentleman about the rather particular customer complaining about the knife sharpening. Not only do I make knives from raw steel I am also pride myself in my sharpening abilities. Different knives for different uses of different angles and curves convex curves etc. it is very much an art and I wouldnt have my knives by someone who said five dollars. The store is great that lady is crazy

Very cheerful and helpful staff, a large selection of things for projects around the house. It is exactly what a hardware store should be, and they offer discounts if you shop often. Owned by a local fellow who works at the store himself and is very helpful and takes an interest in serving you.

You can tell a place by their returns and customer service and this place is tops. They sold us a "Living Accents" fire put that was absolute garbage, one of the trashiest things Ive ever bought. Four months later they let us return it for a full refund, no hassle. Thats great.
