I find myself at Pearl Ace a few times a week after finally becoming a homeowner. Folks there are incredibly helpful and it appears they really enjoy working there judging by the many interactions I have had with the employees. A few of them even greet me by name at this point which doesnt sound like much, but its something I wouldnt experience in a place like Home Depot (and it brightens my day). On a few occasions, they didnt have the parts or hardware I needed for a project, but they were happy to point me in the right direction. Options are limited downtown as far as hardware stores go, and I am grateful that the one hardware store within walking distance is so great.

They had a moron working as a sales associate who thought he was smarter than everyone else, couldnt answer simple questions that were asked of him, and even went as far as to think that normal every day people havent been exposed to the internet, let alone a person who minors in computer sciences. His words, "well theres this thing called the internet"... What this moron didnt know is that I used that internet to find his store, and make the decision to purchase $100 of merch from them. What I shouldve done was spend it on their competitors. This store gets rated 1 star online for absolute disrespect of serious customers.

At dinner recently, friends were bemoaning the appalling lack of service found in so many retail stores and we nearly simultaneously mentioned that the Pearl Ace Hardware as having the model of extraordinary service! We all told stories of seeking out obscure items there with the help of truly knowledgeable sales people. Even their cheerful greeting as we walk in the door seems genuine and not the usual "I see you and dont shop lift" so often employed at other stores. If they dont have what Im looking for, they will order it for me and call me just a few days later to let me know it is in. That is what I call service.

What can I say? Its an Ace Hardware. Aces are a parred down version of a Lowes or Home Depot. You can get home goods from lawn care supplies, to BBQs, 6 inch clamps, band saws, drills, and paint, but they dont have a ton of lumber, whole kitchens or full size appliances for sale. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Parking is tight, but free and available. This is definitely a solid choice for hardware if youre in Downtown Portland. Ive used them for dry wall anchors mounts for paintings and a tv wall mount. I also got mini cans of propane for my small grill. Cheers.

The store is a postage stamp compared to Home Depot or Loews, but I have found that the hardware/handyman supplies inventory is at least as good as, if not better, than either of those two. Note that it is a hardware store, and will not have a large stock of lumber, cinder blocks, roofing, etc. as you would find at a megastore. Prices are slightly higher than The Home Despot, if you are spending over $100 it may be worth your while to make the trip. Open to 7pm weekdays

The prices are slightly higher than youd pay at the hardware stores farther out on the edge of town, but the convenient location and friendly staff make me go there all the time. Great on returns, knowledgeable employees and every staff member Ive come across has been really friendly and will diligently work until theyve helped me find what Im looking for. They even let me run in and grab something once when I was late and they were already closing up.

I LOVE this hardware store! We come here all the time. Some highlights for things we buy here: *Washing soda (clean way to clear pipes without drain-o) *Dehumidifier and dehumidifying crystals (great for those bathrooms without ventilation in the NW *paint for our apartment *Christmas decorations We come here and spend a lot of money. Just sign up for the ace hardware membership so you get money off.

Otherwise known as Pearl Hardware, the selection is the best Ive seen of all Portland hardware stores, next to Winks. Whats better than Winks is they allow you to walk all the hardware sections and browse freely for that perfect screw/nut/bolt. The selection of homeowner items is complete and of better quality than the big box stores. The parking is excellent. The staff is helpful. The prices are right.

You know how the teacher used to single out the special student who got all the answers right and summon him to stand up and recite what hed done (or she, of course)? That is what Pearl Hardware is compared to all the other consumer hardware stores you can name within 50 miles. Theyre like having an extra helper on any project and allow you to tackle projects a bit out of your reach.

Great selection of equipment and hardware supplies. I always find what Im looking for including very specific screws bolts nuts and tools. I find the things in general to be spendy here especially household items. Service is really great though and the staff is very experienced and will take the time to answer your questions and make sure you are getting the right thing.

Ive been going to this store since it was Uptown Hardware in another location, same owners. They are amazingly well stocked for the size and have had virtually everything Ive ever needed, even old fashioned obscure items. The staff are knowledgable and helpful. They recently expanded into the space next door, so I expect even more capacity.

They have a decent selection of items. As with any hardware store its hit and miss when asking for help. Ive had someone give me an excellent tip while another one just led me around while they looked for something I asked for. There is at least always someone around to ask, though half the time you may regret asking.

We live near by and walk here for all our household supplies, tools, and similar needs. Ive bought a lot of things here and the people have always been super nice, and very helpful. They help me figure out what I need, or find some tiny nut thats the right size, and are patient with my dog (who loves to go in here).

This is one of the only hardware stores in the downtown area. They have a great selection of products and PVC pipe. Ive been here many times and quickly found what I need and the employees were more than happy to cut my PVC pipe. They also have a great selection of different patterned duct tape.

This is one of the best hardware stores in Portland, hands down. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they have a little but of everything. If you took all of the best things in a kitchen store and a big box hard ware store and put them into one store, that store would be Pearl Ace Hardware.

This place deserves high marks for having a surprisingly good selection of kitchen accessories, including some very nice cutlery, on top of the regular selection of plumbing equipment, tools, and so forth. The staff were also very attentive, and offered to help frequently.
