I usually find it unnecessary to leave negative reviews, however there are some circumstances where I feel responsible for helping other people avoid poor business interactions. So here is my honest review of Menards. In short: 1. The rebates are a big hassle and are merely a way to incentivize customers to purchase their products. 2. Terrible, unaccommodating customer service. 3. Has a (for lack of a better term) "screw you" mentality when the order is incorrect on their end. 4. Building supplies salespersons unknowledgeable 5. Difficulty looking up receipts after 5 months. 6. The 15 yr and 25 yr warranties on the building materials are invalid. They claim they have to record of the purchase and do not provide a way to take advantage of the warranty. A total scam, unfortunately. I first heard about this new Menards location just as I was renovating my first home. I was excited! They even had a promotion going on that promised a rebate for purchasing building materials. Knowing that most rebates are scammy, I asked a salesperson at the store how it worked. She told me as long as it was submitted within a year, you would receive the rebate. Total lie. You only have 3 months. Unfortunate, but I could deal with this being their only flaw. I then ordered a couple thousand dollars worth of building materials. The cement board siding worked out just fine, but the trim we ordered came in a different color. It says on the receipt the exact color we ordered, but when we brought it home it was far from the color we ordered. At the time, my husband and I had a thousand things going on in our personal lives, we were engaged at the time, planning a wedding, not living in the home yet, and the weather was getting colder. We were unable to find a time to rent another truck to haul the materials back out there for an error Menards made. When we tried to rectify the situation, we were told (after a bunch of other mini hassles I will spare the details of) the only solution they came up with was for my husband and I to rent another truck, drive out to return the materials for only a 75% discount since it is a "special order" product, then rent a truck again weeks later to pick up and repurchase the new materials. Considering we though we were going to receive a rebate for these materials, taking not only the loss of the rebate, a 75% loss on the materials, the cost of renting trucks and the time of driving an hour away on multiple weekends to exchange the materials- for an error that was not made on our end, shows a lack of compassion for the customer. We should have known from the beginning. When initially ordering the products, the salespeople in-store seemed unqualified for the job. The employees would never give straight answers and always seem to be confused. Terrible service. Terrible experience. I would say Menards is okay for purchasing smaller items in-store, however I would not recommend dealing with this company.

I would not recommend shopping at Menards because of a recent issue I have had. I purchased close to 700 Sq. Ft of tile for a project. Since it was a "larger" quantity they needed to place a special order for the product. This special order took 4 weeks to come in and another 3-4 days to get to my house using their delivery service. My wife and I were doing the project and it took a few months to finish it all. I go in to return 250.00 worth of leftover tile and the clerk tells me that they will only be able to give me store credit since it was over 90 days (by 2 days). I was surprised that the delivery time was held against the return time and asked for a manager to intervene. The young manager was apologetic although dismissive and walked away before I felt the conversation had ended. I called and spoke with the general manager, Ralph. He said it wasnt at all unreasonable that this delivery time was held against me and he suggested I should head down from Cleveland to do my grocery shopping there if I didnt have any big projects coming up to spend the store credit on. Next step - Call the Corporate office. They said everything needs to be submitted in writing and refused to let me speak to anyone in customer service to help me resolve this issue. I will NOT buy another item from here and would rather sell off my 260.00 Store Voucher than get my own money back based off of their crappy return policy. I did not pick a 1 star review only because they do have a great selection of products. I just with the customer service was as good at this store as it was in the Dayton stores where I previously shopped.

In a word HORRIBLE. Everything there is do it yourself. If you want to buy lumber you have to walk 1/2 mile to one corner of the store to draw up an order, then back to the SELF check out line to pay for it, then you have to drive another 1/2 mile around the store to a gate, show them the order for lumber, then you drive into one of their Barn buildings and find it yourself in a warehouse of lumber on two levels! It was getting dark & the lights were not turned on (took 6 requests to get them to turn them on). Then it was not there. I had to drive back to the gate to tell them I couldnt find it & no one was there to help. Then I had to go back there. Over an hour wait to find one board because they were stocked in the wrong place, the quantities were wrong & every single one of them was damaged (major cracks, missing chunks in molded stair railing). Two people looked for half an hour, couldnt find a decent one so they wanted me to go back to the CS desk 1/2 mile away again to get a refund or adjustment. I asked to speak to supervisor who took another half hour to arrive & he acted like he couldnt find his mommy let alone what was going on in his warehouse. Complete morons. If I was not handicapped I would have returned everything I bought there and got a refund. If I am going to do the work of all this self checking out, self hunting their stock & self managing their mistakes then I want to be paid as if I work there too. NEVER AGAIN MENARDS! Home Depot here I come.

Very disappointed experience. Last Wednesday, I took my 78 year old dad with me to your Warren location. I had purchased 7 led lights, a soil compactor and foundation pipe. During our travel time to your location I had been telling my dd how impressed I had been with the store and your amazing staff. I parked the truck out front, left dad in the truck and I went in to find him a scooter ( which he, a US vet) is in need of to get around. I brought one out to him, we made it about half way in the store and the battery went dead. The time was about 1:30pm. I went to find another, you staff informed me that they only have 2 available. After he sat there for 10 min, there was enough power to get him to the front door. I was unable to continue my/our shopping, decided to head to the pickup, received my order and traveled 45min home listening to him complain about his experience. Your Warren staff is aware of the customer dissatisfaction concerning this issue. People with disabilities do use home improvement products.
