I love Mast and this one doesnt disappoint! Its in a really cool section of town and stays true to the original Mast stores. It even manages to replicate the creaky floors ( I dont know how they do that) that the one in Valle Crucis has. The selection of clothes, toys, candy, and old time southern stuff is fantastic! The outdoors and backpacking gear is a bit sparse, but they have some great stuff. They represent Winston Salem well by having Winston themed apparel and gifts as well as locally made products, giving the store a unique and local feel. The staff are all amazingly friendly and wonderful and this store is a total gem and whether you are driving through or just want to satisfy a sweet tooth, it is a great place to stop in.

Always a fan of Mast General Store for its throw-back or vintage feel. They keep it consistent at this location too. They have all of the apparel options you would expect from outdoor casual, to hiking and outdoor adventure wear. Great selection of shoes and gear as well with friendly staff to help guide you around. Check out the old-timey candy area and drink a soda from a glass bottle while you sample some candy from another era. Mast kept the history of the building alive by using found materials to retain the buildings history and make it stand out in the Historic Arts district section of town.

If youre looking for that ole country store feel, this is the place to visit. Creaking floors to memories of your past, just take a look up at the displayed items. Remember your first pair is skates, mommas old ironing board. Its all here. Get lost in seeing candy you dont see anymore, its like stepping back in time. But still there are wonderful selections to choose from. A must see store.

Clean store, a large selection of shoes, camping gear, as well as cast iron cooking tools. The rest rooms were clean. The only issue was floors! They were installed in such a fashion as to appear old, but you could not take a step with out it creaking and after 5 minutes it just started to drive me a little nuts.

Mast general store is a great place to stop in while strolling about downtown Winston Salem. They have a wide selection of pay by the pound candy, glass bottle sodas, all kinds of nick nacks, and a whole downstairs of camping, backpacking and outdoor gear and clothing. Be prepared to pay top dollar though.

This is a fun place. I found a lot of candies I hadnt seen in forever. The cost starts to mount as you excitedly bang more and more candies into your basket...and then the clerk weighs your purchase, and before you know it you need a small loan. They have lots of fun chotchkies and shwag too.

Lots of great finds! Definitely a great place to stop in. Great camping accessories. Only giving a four because some of the name brand clothing is a little more expensive when I compare to amazon and similar outdoor apparel companies. But they have much more than just apparel.

Great store! Lots of great candy options and also wonderful gift items. A large selection of anything you my be looking for. Prices can be on the high side but can also find some amazing finds on sale. I always enjoy window shopping and have never walked out empty handed.

Unique store offering camping & outdoor gear in the lower level. The upper level offers candy by the pound, unique gifts, clothing, kitchen accessories, and decorative sundries. The prices on the camping equipment were competitive. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly.

It is an old time classic store that takes you back to the old days of Southern hospitality in a store that sells a little bit of everything. It also has barrels of candy, throwback versions of board games that take you back to your childhood. I truly love this store!

Cool old school store w/ overpriced everything. Twenty-five dollar underwear, three hundred dollar knives tells me that high end novelty items may have buyers that just do not have a problem purchasing items without shopping around. My dollar Willie spent elsewhere.

A great little blast into the past. I bring any visiting family members here and my wife and I try to pop in every now and again. I love all the retro toys and candy as well as the great selection of clothes, kitchen gadgets and hard to find foods and spices.

Retro general store. Candy selection in the back with a wide variety of generational candies. You are sure to find one of those long sought after candies from your childhood memories. Also have a great selection of outdoor clothing and items.

They have some of the best stuff you cant find anywhere else in Winston-Salem unless you go online but the people were very friendly and courteous. They were very helpful and talked me into buying two pair of shoes I love them.

Mast General stores are some of my all time favorite places to shop. It has that old fashioned atmosphere with a large variety of those hard to find items. The clothing is top notch and a little pricey.
