Well I started looking for bike shops around Charlotte and I found Espada in Facebook I went to yelp to look at the reviews and most of them were very positive; in the same facebook page I found a special where you can get your bike completely service for around $60, right way I said "man thats a good deal" so I bought the service on line and made my way to shop after work to drop off my bike. When I show up to the shop the guy said "where did you find that special because Im no longer offering that, but I will go ahead and honor it" now the special is supposed to include many services like the tuning of gears, break adjustments, it even went as far as to clean your frame and wax it. He also ask me if there was anything I had issues with and I told him that my fork was missing some pressure and my gears were off therefore the reason I bought the special. he said ok comeback in two days. Two passed and I call the shop and I asked him if the bike was ready and to that point I dont think he had even touch my bike, it sounded like he did not even know that my bike was in the shop; He asked that I come and pick it up at a later time the same day. When I finally show up he said that he had to change some brakes and that was going to cost me extra $40 to be exact, I know for a fact that anywhere if someone is going to service you car, bike, motorcycle, ect they have to call you to authorized any work before is done. But I trusted the guy and said fine if my bike needed new cables Ill just pay for them. Well that was just the start, the next day I wen to hit the trails since my bike was finally tune, guess what I almost injure myself because my brakes were loose and yes my gears were off again. I had to pull out half way into the trail I was very upset. I didnt bother calling the guy again to complain I just went ahead and took my bike somewhere else, the guy who service my bike afterwards told me that the only thing the is guy did was change my cables and halfass adjusted my gears for a total of $97. Then I realize hey most of those reviews on yelp are his own buddies. My advise to you is even if you have to pay a little more go and get your service to a well know bike shop, dont be a victim to these predatory bike mechanics that just because you got a coupon out of their own website they feel entitle to lie to you your face and take you hard earned money.

Ive been looking for a quality wrench to fix my beloved ride ... I found it at Espada bicycles. I called ahead to see if he (Steve- Owner) had the time to go over my ride. He said, "Bring it in!". So I did. The shop, as other reviewers have stated is towards the back. The front is part art gallery and part jewelry shop. Noda parking is hit or miss. Steve took the time to ask what was wrong and listened to my response. He put my bike up on the rack an got straight to it. Instead of just turning a couple knobs and send me on my way, he took the wheel off and tightened my cassette (Which I didnt know was loose!) and adjusted the rear derailleur. It was dark and I am not familiar with the streets so I did not take it for a proper test run. In a couple days when I was able to take a hard run with my bike, I had my issue again. I sent a video to him with what was going on. He got back to me very quickly and gave me a couple suggestions. I decided the best choice was to come back in the shop and have a pro do it. Steve was kind enough to take me in again and explain to me what he was doing and why. Then he tore it all down, cleaned it up and made some more adjustments. After a successful test run with my bike, my problem was gone. I had been battling this issue for months and he fixed it in 35 minutes. He also cleaned my cassette and my rear hub "guts" too. Yes, there are other bike shops and mega shops that may or may not fix your bike. For me, Im taking my bikes to Steve ( ALL of them and I am a really particular who touches my rides). He is a solid wrench, and a good guy as well. If you have a bike, any bike, bring it to him if you need a quality wrench. Whether your riding a carbon queen, townie, hybrid, BMX or a beater, Steve will get you back on your ride. Thats the hallmark of a REAL bike shop where Ill spend my dollars any day. Did I mention his prices were very, VERY reasonable? Im glad I went.....you will be too.

Best Bike Mechanic in Charlotte. Steve was the first guy I spoke with when I decided to get back into biking. He has always given good advice and never tries to up-sell me. Matter of fact, he usual talks me into less expensive items to keep me from wasting my money. I’ve had others work on my bike and I can tell the difference. Now I only take my bike to Espada. On top of all that, he is a really nice guy with no hint of pretentiousness that you sometimes find at the other shops. He never makes me feel stupid for asking questions, no matter how basic they may seem.

Short story: I assembled a bicycle that I ordered online, and they didnt put all the nuts and bolts in the box. Which in turn didnt allow me to finish assembling the seat of the bike. I stopped by the Espada bike shop to get missing parts. Not only he (I assume the owner) gave me the bolts and nuts, HE ALSO GAVE ME A WHOLE SEAT ASSEMBLY IN CASE I HAD TROUBLE. I didnt have cash on me, so he said, dont worry about it and let me have it for free. WOW! Unbelievable customer service! I know where Im taking my bike for repairs now. Mad props to the Espada Bicycles!!!!

Espada is the real deal. The owner is kind and patient, and cares about the safety of you and your bike. I came in to get my wheels realigned after an accident, and when I picked it up he had fixed about four other odds-and-ends that I had been putting off repairing myself forever, free of charge. he money is just one thing, but more importantly this guy gets it I had always meant to go into Espada, but I lived closer to another shop, and sometimes Espada seemed intimidating (its in downtown Noda, etc) so I never did. Im glad I did and will always go back here.

Ok. So only negative thing I have to say, he forgot to call to tell me my bike was done, but I forgot it was there so tomato tomato. That said, the transformation of my bike was a dream come true I pretty much neglected my bike for three years - a pretty decent specialized dolce. And I brought it to Steve. It literally rides better than it did when I bought it 7 years ago - no joke. So I forgave him for being bad at the call backs. Hes amazing. I cant believe how well the gears shift.
