You cant beat the prices and selection for a thrift store. I wish they organized their clothes according to size instead of color so you dont have to look at the tag on each one, but its probably faster for the volunteers that way. I found some of the volunteers to be incredibly rude. I had where the items were in a bin, and the bin was marked with a price but the individual items were not. They would not sell it to me because they cant sell items without a price tag. The clerk wouldnt walk back and look at the bin, and wouldnt let me go back and verify it either. On another occasion I bought a wicker furniture set (couch, 2 chairs, table) 15 minutes before closing. A man was standing by the door not letting anyone back in the store because they were "closed". I couldnt carry all that in one load, and no one was willing to help me--even though I was 8 months pregnant at the time. The door nazi wouldnt let me back in the store to get the furniture I had already paid for. He wouldnt even put it out on the sidewalk for me to pick up. He said they would hold it for 24 hours and then it would be sold to someone else if I didnt come get it during their business hours (even though all this took place during business hours). I explained that I wouldnt have access to a car until the next Saturday, and he said that he hoped it was still there, but they offer no refunds. Very frustrating! I had just spent $75 in their store and they wouldnt let me take the things I bought home!

By far the best place to get fashionable clothing if you are willing to look through the racks like all thrift stores. I found black dress pants from the "Black & White Store" which would normally be $70 to $80 dollars and I bought them for $2.00. I have also bought my boyfriend Polo shirts, Tommy Bahama and other name brand shirts for $2.00. Almost everything in there is $2.00, so it is much cheaper than Good Will and all or most of the money is donated back to the community. They have everything from clothing to shoes, furniture, purses, appliances etc. If you are not getting clothing, some of the stuff is not $2,but maybe a couple of dollars more, Obviously the furniture and appliances are more than $2.00, but it is still by far cheapest place to buy fashionable clothes and it benefits the community.

I loved the store. I found so many wonderful things there. It was clean and organized. The problem was.. I went just before closing time. Twenty minutes before closing time they started turning off the lights. I quickly went to try on something and a few employees told me to hurry! I hurried and when I came out they were all standing waiting for me. I walked to the shelf to put an item back and someone actually yelled at me and told me it was closing time! I was trying to help them! I explained this and I went to pay for my items feeling a little embarrassed, and in a rush. They hurried me through checkout and I was in my car ten minutes before closing time! They locked the doors and drove home. I found awesome stuff, but I dont want to go back because of the people.

Easy parking; big spacious store in a former grocery store space. Deep selection in most categories. Staff do a good job of displaying the goods in an attractive way. Decent book section. Nice linens and fabrics. Not sure who the donor base is; dont see a LOT of exotically wonderful stuff but I also dont shop that often and could well miss it. Staff is church-based volunteers. Hours changed not long ago to make the store more working-person accessible. Before then, I suspect many of the volunteers had hard-stop commitments that might have necessitated closing the store on the dot. Store is clean and aggressively neat. (In other words, dont put something down in the wrong place--its likely to be reshelved by the time you turn around!)

I find the selection to be hit or miss here, but to me, the staff is often so rude I cant believe it. Some of the women scold customers and some are just incredibly rude at the registers. My daughter found 2 of the same item and only 1 was marked (small box of invitation size envelopes). The cashier refused to sell us the other because it was not marked. I know thrifts have this rule, but really, a .99 pack of envelopes and they couldnt sell it? A man was pushing a trike back and forth in the store clearly to see if it rolled smoothly-woman yelled at him to "knock it off, why you need to do that?" (man had no idea what she was saying since he didnt speak English, but do they have to be so rude?

Im writing this in reply to the negative review by, Google User. I understand that you felt frustrated by Dorcas not being able to accept all of your donations. Consider though, the group returns a large part of their revenue directly back to the community. Although your donations did not directly cost the group much, consider that there are other costs involved in the handling of those donations. There are building rents, power, water, and salaries of full time staff......plus too, trash removal. Why get upset at them for not being in a position of having to pay for your goods to be removed in their trash? The group is optimized to help the community, not removing debris

I have never been so impressed with a thrift store! I have visited the local Goodwills, Durham Rescue Mission, and Paws for Cause, but they all pale in comparison to DORCAS. The store is BIG, clean, well lit and full of great quality items that are in very good condition. They always have plenty of volunteers on staff to help, so there is never a long wait at the register. I am super impressed and I will be back often! As much as I wanted to keep this place as my secret, I only discovered it because I read a review of a local Goodwill that said, "Dont bother, go to DORCAS instead". Boy, they were right! :)

I would give this place five stars except many of the volunteers treat customers poorly. They spoke down to me and behaved as if I was unworthy some how. I shop at thrift stores as somewhat of a hobby, not because I have to, so I really didnt let it bother me; however, I was thinking how badly it could make someone who was shopping there out of necessity feel--made me sort of sad and made me wonder why these folks are working there...are they there to look good or help people? Just saying...working here could be an opportunity to show kindness, acceptance and love to people...

Dorcas is awesome! The volunteer staff are super kind and helpful. Most clothing items run about $2, and there is a good selection of items, all of which are carefully arranged by color. Shoes are hit or miss, but I find thats the case with most thrift stores. Dont skip the sunglasses and jewelry counter... Excellent finds! I accidentally broke a pair of the sunglasses while trying them on and offered to pay for them. The kind lady behind the counter told me it was okay. I would highly recommend Dorcas and love that its aim is to help others.
