The staff is very unfriendly as other reviewers mentioned. But also, they do not take credit and the requirements to write a check are strict. I have been there a handful of times and they have taken checks from me before but today I had a new drivers license and my old address was still on the checks. I was trying to write a check for $5 and the lady at the register refused. My daughter wanted a basket that was 75 cents and I only had 50. She would not even let my little girl have it even though she was very upset because I already told her she could. I had to leave with a crying child over something that cost less than a dollar. It was a terrible experience and from now on, Im going somewhere that takes credit. Merry Christmas to you too, GCF!

Have lived less than a mile from this goodwill for more than a decade. Easily has the best selection of any thrift store in the Durham/Chapel Hill area. Especially for book lovers or those who are looking for womens shoes or mens clothing -- always seem to find great things here. As one reviewer says below the staff can definitely be on the grumpy side, tend to be unwilling to help and can sometimes be pretty rude. If you like to go thrifting, though, you could do a lot worse than shopping here. P.S. -- heres a tip. When you go here just make sure to smile extra wide and be xtra friendly to the employees -- you will get profoundly better customer service.

Nice clothing that is well organized but the staff is very unfriendly and unprofessional. I was literally yelled at when I asked if a cart was available. They also regularly have really nice linens, bed sets and curtains but they are all thrown into one huge pile that you have to dig through. Even sets and pairs are not kept together, so you have to spend a lot of time searching through the pile. The straw that breaks the camels back is that they only accept cash. I know that card processing has fees involved, but they are missing so much revenue not accepting cards. I would have spent triple on more than one occasion had they accepted card payments.

I love donating items to Goodwill, they also take items that are not wearable to recycle--the folks who work at this store and also the Hillsborough store are so friendly and helpful. As an organization Goodwill has done so much for many many years. As a child growing up in NE Washington DC I shopped at Goodwill a lot, and we donated there as well. That was in the 60s and 70s. I am so glad that I have rediscovered it as an adult. Thanks for all you do!

One of best organized thrift stores Ive ever been in (its a thrift store, yall...!), and always-always, to the person, the employees are kind and helpful, generous and funny/sweet. Be willing to make a friend and youll make a friend at this store. Generates jobs for folks. Love it. Community feeling. (but yeah, if youre aloof as a human, ya definitely dont have to come in...NP with me at least... ;) )

Their staff is unfailingly rude! They wander around the store complaining loudly about things on the ground -- implying that all the shoppers in there are dropping clothes everywhere when in reality their terrible hangers are to blame -- and act very put-upon when you ask them a question or need to check out. I wouldnt shop there if there was another thrift store in the area with as much selection.

GCF is a total joke and should not be allowed to market it self as "Goodwill." The clothing is trashy, the books video games and appliances have always already been picked through before they hit the shelves, and anything worth more than a dime is locked up in the front with a print-out of the highest buy-it-now listing they could find. Better off shopping at a retail store.

I like shopping at Goodwill but this one was dismal. The store itself is dingy and dirty. The parking at this one rather small/ghetto ( esp weekends). The selection of merchandise ( ex.Clothes/dishes ) is horrible and outdated. INSTEAD SHOP GOODWILLS IN RALEIGH. The selection is way better and youll find better furniture/clothes than this one. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS ONE!!!

They only pick-up furniture...ONLY. I had a donation for them of several pieces of furniture and had some clothes to go along with the furniture donation but they didnt want that. So, even if they were coming to get a large donation they werent going to take all the items even though Goodwill takes clothes. They just refuse to pick them up!!!

Just discovered this GFC Store. Nice large store, clean, large selection of clothing. High end clothing items as well. Nice employees. I actually dropped an item in the parking lot and one of the employees ran out to my car before I drove out of the parking lot.

I have shopped at this goodwill since the day it opened...it continues to go down hill in all areas....they must be getting bottom of barrel clothing now. The quality of clothing kitchen wares and furniture have all declined...It is not clean at all...

Hit or miss. Staff is unfriendly and unprofessional. The stock is sometimes very disorganized. Usually has lots of treasures to find if you have the time or enjoy the hunt.
