Theeeeeeeeee Appalachian Vintner. Where to begin? Perhaps with the completely awesome, knowledgable staff, who not only are eager to sit down and talk at length about beer and wine, but are also just great people in general, and make visiting the Vintner a great experience. Perhaps with the wine selection! They have a great selection of Wines from all over the world, and if you dont know what youre looking for, you can give Geoff or Charles a rough idea of what you like and theyll have ideas. Perhaps with the BEER selection. Tons of microbrews, a couple great locals on tap, and a cooler with a wide selection of local growlers (they give discounts when you bring back old growlers, too. #powertip). Or maybe we should start with the atmosphere in there. Its cozy and welcoming. You can hang out at the bar or sit at a table and relax with a beer or some wine. They have free wine tastings on Saturdays and Wednesday evenings. Yep, you read that right. Theyre free! Just for being you. So go on in and sample some f**king wines. I guess I dont know WHERE to begin.. but I DO know where YOU should begin. You should begin by hopping in your car and driving dangerously and erratically to the Appalachian Vintner. I cant believe you havent been there yet.

I found Appalachian Vintner on a Google search, so I was initially skeptical of their ability to provide good service. Then I spoke to them on the phone, and they were accommodating. I was calling from Durham and planning a wedding at Chimney Rock state park. So I had a lot on my mind. They were very friendly and offered to work with me, for a larger purchase, like my wedding. When I arrived, one of the owners (sorry, I forgot his name) greeted me and my father. Later my best man arrived and we started looking at various wines. We were lost, and the owner gradually increased his guidance. Perfect in my book. He was gracious, laid back, and knowledgeable at the same time. The owner asked what price range we shopping in, and directed us to the best values in the store. Other places would have sneaked a higher priced wines into their recommendation, but these guys stayed true to my price range. Then we switched over to the beer. My territory with California beer, but I did not really know North Carolina beer. Again, the owner stepped in and directed me to what he thought would be the styles I liked. At the wedding, lots of people complimented the selection and the beer guys raved about the NC beer. Damn that was good stuff!

Two days before my wedding, while we were driving down to our venue, our car groaning with wedding supplies and luggage, we realized that we still had not gotten any wine for the wedding. I walked in to this store and said, "Help me! Im having a wine emergency!" Within 30 minutes, our car was packed up with two cases of rose wine, plus various other bottle of prosecco and fancy beers. We probably only got 10 miles to the gallon, our car was so heavy. We bought the rose based on the recommendations from the wine/rose expert of the store who looks like a mountain man that only drinks home brewed mead but can speak eloquently about the minerality of this wine and that wine (aka stuff I dont understand). The rose was a hit. Not too sweet, great minerality (still dont know what this means), and perfectly refreshing for a summer night. We have so many photos of people walking around with a bottle of rose, taking swigs during the reception. The knowledge of the Appalachian Vintner guys was impressive, and the store had a huge selection. I only wish we didnt live so far from Asheville, otherwise wed be coming by more often. Thanks for saving us from our wine emergency!

I love the Appalachian Vintner! The wine and beer selection is great, but it is the staff, the physical space, and the regulars that really make this store stand out amongst all the other wine and beer stores in Asheville. The interior of the store is beautiful and there are many stools at the spacious bar, couches in the little nook area, and several tables and chairs to fit any crowd. Geoff and Charles are the brothers who own the store and they are extremely knowledgeable about the wines and beers they sell. The store has free wine tastings every saturday and through the years their has been a crew of locals who have become regulars and I love meeting up with them every saturday to enjoy some wines and good conversation. So if you are an Asheville local or one of our many tourists here to enjoy western North Carolina, stop in and say Hi to Geoff and Charles!!

I love this place! 20 beers on tap (21 if you include the cask), 10 wines by the glass, or shop until you find something you like and open it there and enjoy it at the bar, on the couches, in front of your laptop with free wi-fi, or on the wonderful patio. The staff is up to date and super knowledgeable about their inventory. If you cant find it, they can get it! They just take your name and number and you hear from them that day or the next. Geoff and Charles (very handsome brothers who own the massive shop) are on point and in gear when it comes to running a business. 2 thumbs up for this place!!!

Dont go to Brusin Ales! Go to the Vintner! This store has an awesome beer selection and great prices to go with it. I am from Ohio originally and I got the story of how they go out of there way to stock Ohio beers. They carry many of my favorite breweries and beers. They have an awesome selection of seasonal brews. They also have beer on tap, what more could you ask for. Oh yeah, if you like wine they have lots of that too. So if your in Asheville looking for a great carry out go to the Vintner.

My wife and I discovered this little gem soon after it opened - close to all of Kenilworth, this place is great. Geoff, the proprietor, is the most help Ive ever had in a wine/beer market. This place is like having a best friend who cant wait to tell you the important things they know about wine and beer. I also recently discovered that its a good place to meet a few friends after work and taste beers from the cooler.

This is a great spot in Asheville - fantastic selection of wines. We ask them to pick wines for us when we do events and they always come up with interesting selections at very good prices. If you are on the Asheveille beer trail you are still in luck - tons of taps and an inviting bar to sit at and drink it. Then on your way out get some obscure bitters or fancy tonic. I am a big fan.

Just an amazing shop with so much to offer when it comes to quality wines, beer, and even sake. Geoff and Charles are both extremely knowledgeable about the store and the community, which makes them an asset for tourists in the area looking for more info. We cannot forget to shout out Zach, who is the manager there, beertender, and all over awesome dude!!
