Im 31 years old, but look about 25, and since I work from home, Ill occasionally look a little scruffy during the day. On the day that I visted this store for the first and only time, it was a scruff day, and the representative behind the counter was a well groomed grey haired women, who I hope wasnt THE Jan. It was a little before noon on a friday, and I was looking to see if there was any interesting selections of wine or liquor, as one might do anticipating a little time off, but from the first moment I walked in I felt unwelcome. The women behind the counter looked me from head to toe, as if she was sizing me up for some reason, this was a look I dont think Ive gotten since I was a teen walking in to Tiffanys on 5th Ave wearing a Metallica shirt. She kept an almost obsessive watch over me, as I walked through the 30 x 10 hallway of a store. Then just as I was about to make my decision about my purchase, I get scolded for stepping over some boxes that were left on the floor, being told, "they are on the floor for a reason", what ever that means. Im assuming this experience was because of my appearance, but maybe she just has a bad attitude. Either way, I will not be returning to that store, even though I typically try to support local businesses as much as possible despite the typical price premium. Most mom and pop shops will offer a level of customer service and hospitality rarely found in the ABCs of the world but this location had the trifecta of over priced product, mediocre selection, and poor service that defines a business as being BAD!!!

I realize this is a bit late, but I just found these reviews. I am a manager at Jans and was very upset to hear of Trevors experience with us. We have had many employees, and I cannot pin point which employee he was referring to, but I can assure you she is not still with us. (Jan is a blonde) My deepest apologies on the horrific service you experienced with us. We hope you will try us out one more time and again my sincerest apologies on your experience with us!! ps: David, I am sorry to hear about your conversation with the book salesman. I am assuming it was at our bar. I can only tell you that if you take the chance to sit at a wine bar in suburbia, you will have a high chance of meeting disgruntled yuppies. Its a good thing we also serve hard alcohol. ;)
