I asked for a car stereo from Best Buy for Christmas. I got the stereo and a gift car to help with the installation and necessary kits. I stopped in 3 days after Christmas to get it installed, and was told the next appointment wasnt until 3 weeks later. I scheduled the appointment, not too happy, but understanding that a lot of people probably got stereos for Christmas too. The next day I decide Id go back and pick up the kit I need, and try my luck with the Ithaca store. They could get me in within 3 days - hooray! I drive up there for them to tell me the store in Vestal sold me the wrong kit (I would lose all my temp controls in my Honda Accord! What?) and they didnt carry the kit for my car in Ithaca. So back I go to Vestal - this time I dont waste time with the floor sales person who sold me a Mazda kit instead of a Honda kit. I go right to the installation area and they give me the correct kit. So the day of my original appointment arrives and I take my car in. The guy checks out my kit, asked if I understood that the kit would replace the storage area in my console and not my OEM stereo. I asked if they had a kit that would replace the OEM, and he said that was some $150!! I was a bit peeved that I was never told about this but nonetheless, was just happy Id get my stereo installed - finally. It took them over 2 hours to install it. *sigh* Fine. I pick up the car, all happy with my stereo but not happy with the process. That night I discover anything fact they failed to mention - the back light on my temp controls is completely gone. Fine for daytime travel, but I cannot see my controls at night. *sigh* Needless to say, I the next time I decide to install a stereo in any of my vehicles, Ill be looking for a local installer. I like Best Buy in general, but Im not happy with the car installation department.

I prefer to not go to this Best Buy if I have specific questions about a product, whether it is a general question about the brand or if it is a specific technical question. Some of the "kids" that work there seem to just want the paycheck rather than give proper customer service. It doesnt seem like proper training and communication is a priority between general managers and floor sales. One associate told us something but wasnt too sure about the answer to the question we asked, so we had to hunt down the manager to get the proper answer. The manager was nice and very helpful. On the contrary, there are some associates that really know what they are talking about when it comes to the technology in their department. There is a young man in the photo section that is very helpful. I dont know his name. I wish I did, but he is ALWAYS there when I go to Best Buy. Also, Ross in the computer section knows everything there is to know about Mac computers. He completely turned a person using a PC to a Mac user within a half an hour. I called Best Buy with a couple questions about video and sound adapters and the associate I talked to didnt know the answer. I asked for Ross but he wasnt there. My opinion overall is that there is not enough training or care among some associates, but there are some associates willing to help with anything.

When I first heard Best Buy was opening in Vestal, I was so excited, feeling it would be a great place to shop in, so far it has surpass my expectations. the service is great, Employees was friendly to my mother who needed help to find Christmas gifts during the last few hours on Christmas. as for me they help me decide why i needed to buy PS3 Slim,. and I honesty love spending every minute on it. the games look amazing. then the Blu-ray movies they recommend me look so beautiful on my 32inch HDTV of course Anyway I love this store.. before this Best Buy store open. I use to do all my shopping at Walmart, you know the one at 2405 Vestal Parkway East, right near Target, and McDonalds. Circult City use to be there but it close down) So like i was saying thats why i shop at Walmart. thinking they had everything I needed right there, well not anymore. now on every Friday of the month I will shop at Best Buy for my daily needs ^-^ maybe shop at Walmart for food. depends on the Giant/Weis Market sometimes I shop there

With the exception of the cell-phone reps, most of the salespeople here have no idea what they are talking about. I have a pretty basic understanding of electronics and like most consumers I do some homework before I drop a lot of money on something. When I go in and I clearly know more about the product and how it works, it doesnt make me feel confident buying from you. I go in to touch/test a product in person before I go back home and buy it online (often for a MUCH better price). Additionally, things are very often out of stock, even at random non busy times of the year. One time, there was an item I asked about and it took an hour to find it in the backroom. An hour. I hung around because the man looking for it was very very nice and gave me updates. Very poorly organized, apparently. People are nice at the store is clean, about all the good I can say.

This is a decent best buy, and one of the only options when it comes to local stores, I gave 4 stars because they have fairly good prices (64 GB USB 3.0 Drive, $18), but when it comes to product stock, knowledge, and store size, this is one of the worst best buys I have ever been in. But since the closest big best buy is in the syracuse and scranton areas, this is still a decent store. Employees know nothing about electronics and their stock is laughable, almost no useful items, but I did manage to find some really good items at good prices such as a cheap USB 3.0 drive, a PC fan, and a wireless Logitech keyboard. If you are extremely tech savy or a PCer like me, you are better off shopping in on,one stores.

I had a remote starter installed in my car, the guys name was "Bailey G." He seemed nice, talked the talk. But about 3 miles down the road once I got on the highway to 65mph I heard a rattling noise. MY HOOD WASNT CLOSED ALL THE WAY. Are you kidding me? On top of that. The remote starter doesnt work properly. It continues to crank the engine once it has started until the car shuts off then restarts. Or the engine cranks one time, then quits. It doesnt keep trying like I was told. Very disappointed. Not to mentioned the safety issue. They should have to pay to have my car looked at to make sure that my hood didnt bend anything or damage the locking mechanism as it became a boat sail for a couple miles.

Vestal Location was NOT helpful at all when going to purchase a Fitbit. People walked right by us, not offering assistance. They did not have what I wanted on display, and their policy is apparently to not allow boxes to be opened. I contacted the customer service department, and did not get a response for weeks. When I did get a response, she said she had high volumes of emails. After I replied to her, I never got a response in return. We have spent a lot of money at Best Buy over the years, but we are no longer customers of this business. They do not even deserve 1 star in my opinion.
