The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, and they always take the time to thoroughly answer any questions I have, which is nice. The manager is super polite and helpful as well. The store is decent too with inventory considering the size of it-- I can usually find what I need without having to travel towns over. The downside is that some of the fish have disease and they are kept in tight living conditions. I noticed some of the fish were in the wrong tanks; there were agressive fish mixed in with community ones and it was acknowledged that they should not be in there and had to be moved. As far as disease, the Gouramis I was interested in had something wrong with their eyes (fungus?) which was prominent in one tank... and I purchased two phantom tetras that were infected with ich. There was only a two day guarantee on the fish so I cannot return them, and they infected my entire tank. Its unfair to the animals and it sucks that I need to now purchase medication that I would not have needed prior to buying these guys. To sum it up, the people there are nice. The animals could be treated a little better though. Disease is inevitable, definately, but a little more caution could be taken. Just be careful when buying here to make sure you arent purchasing any sick animals. But aside from that, the store is nice and I do prefer it over the other pet stores in the Mastic-Shirley area.

Walked into this store for a simple couple of community fish. First off, 80% of the fish were dead or beat up because the staff doesnt know how to group the aggressive fish with the non-aggressive fish. None of the dead fish are removed from the tanks either. When I finally settled for a few fish out of one of the very few healthy looking tanks, I was quickly greeted with, "just a second" as the girl ran past me. She then spent the next 30 minutes helping 3 other customers that came in after me. The other girl there did her best job pretending to clean a small rodent cage & never make eye contact with me as I mulled around the fish area for 30 minutes. (a job, might I add, that couldve waited until AFTER the customer was served). When the other girl who served everybody BUT me was finally finished, we made eye contact & I assumed I was next. Made my way back over to the tank area & she was gone. Rounded the corner & she already had a bird out of a cage, helping some other guy! I gave up at that point & left the store. There are way too many other fish stores around to choose from. With their sickly looking fish & the completely shoddy service, dont ever need to go back there again...

I will not shop there anymore. I was going there because it in convenient, but every time I go there the staff is very unprofessional, store smells horrible, and always looking for somebody to ring me up. I went in yesterday to buy dog food and out in front of the store are all the employees smoking. So to get in the store I had to walk through the cloud of smoke from them. It was horrible.

fish tanks are embarrassing dead fish and mixing of fish that dont belong i will never buy fish from here and that sucks being i live 2 mins away i worked in this store from 04-05 and back then it was run amazing by the store manger Dominick but now its trashed dirty tanks all should be emptied and re started dont buy your fish from here

Paul is who I think he was I got a turtle and all he did was complain how bad I was treating my turtle t I went in there every other day to get food and all he did was tell me what else I should buy and I told him I had like 30 dollers And he told me that wasnt enough money yet I go there every week and get more and more stuff

Worst Service I have ever encountered in my life. Staff was cursing up a storm, yelling about how much they hate their job, Rude to customers and completely unprofessional. I will be taking my business elsewhere and writing a formal complaint to not only corporate, but also the Better Business Bureau.

Employees are unprofessional, and the animals look sick and not well taken care of. The employees curse in front of customers - even children, and make excuses for interested customers to not interact with the animals.
