I was really upset with the level of basic knowledge, empathy, and problem solving capabilities when it came to this location in reference to a purchase of an aquarium and inquiries in reference to the initial set up. When a family member wanted to surprise me with a mini set up in my new apartment in NY, he was very reliant on the staffs knowledge set to help make sure the initial set up was perfect. He was asking all of the right questions but rather than genuinely want to help, it seemed like all they wanted to do was sell him as much as possible . Before the tank was even established (an 8 gallon Nano tank) they sold him about 10 fish which they mentioned is okay. Anyone who works with fish and owns them knows you first HAVE to let the tank cycle and stabilize before introducing live fish. When you are finally ready to do so, you do it by adding a couple at a time (in this case 2-3 based on the tank size) , and not 10 right off the bat On top of that, when I brought in fish that died the same day, the manager refused to refund me and rather only gave me a credit to purchase future fish. I tried to have the credit applied to a couple of things that were needed to complete the initial set up that werent mentioned by the staff (tank heater fir the tropical fish purchased for example) but they refused to do so. I tried to look past it and even went on to buy a stand for the tank. I purchased the stand and went home to try and complete the setup, but when I pulled the stand out of the box, it was all scratched and nicked up as if it was heavily used. The next morning I woke up , three more fish died and my wife and I had such a bad experience that we wanted to avoid this store at all costs so we were just going to count this all as a loss. After explaining this to my brother in law, who made the initial purchases, he suggested to call the corporate office (I would of done this first but I didnt know this was a corporation as I am from NJ) I gave a call to corporate the first chance I had and luckily they were able to educate the staff on the correct livestock return policy and apply the refund, credit me for the damaged tank stand that was originally sold to me, and speak to the district manager to ensure the staff is well educated on aquarium stocking protocol. At the end of the day, it wasnt about the money for me (which is why I wanted to avoid the store in the first place and just cut losses) it was much more about making sure that another customer doesnt have to go through what I did. More importantly its to make sure more fish dont die in the hands of a customer for the stores lack of knowledge. An amazing gift idea turned into a temporary headache but now that everything is ironed out, the surviving fish are in a much better home My advice for anyone who reads this: Avoid this store for the lack of knowledge, overall quality of animal care (Ive honestly never seen a store with fish in worse condition), empathy, and lack of urgency to want to help If this review helps one person in the future, Im a happy man Good luck Respectfully, The voice for the fish who didnt make it

I had to make an emergency trip to my local Petland today to drop off fish. The electricity on my city block was out. So I had a horrible night with my 6 aquariums. They took two of my large fish. An employee named Jonathan helped me. This guy went above and beyond in helping me and even called other stores to see about battery operated air supply pumps. I didnt even ask which was super sweet. He was extremely knowledgeable about my fish and he didnt just toss them in with others. If this guy is not manager I hope he makes it to management one day. This company would benefit from a mind like his.

This place obviously has no idea about any types of animals, the person I asked for help read the names of the fish from the label and had zero knowledge of anything or how to take care of them. I went in to get two algea eater fish and was shocked to find how negligent they are of taking care of their animals. Look at this pile of rotting dead fish they had in their aquarium....!!! There are at least 1 or 2 dead fish in every other aquarium and they dont even bother with them. I would even call this animal cruelty. I can only imagine how they treat their other animals.

Its nice to have a pet store in the neighborhood. However, I would suggest not buying dog or cat food here. Go across the street to Stop and Shop, everything is $1-2 cheaper. Check for yourself if you want. A girl I met in the store told me this and I didnt believe her at first but now I know. Not a huge selection but they have the basic things you need, toys, crates, treats, general pet supplies. Good but not great store.

THIS IS THE CORRECT LOCATION. IGNORE THE OTHER ADDRESS AT 48TH ST. ITS ALSO LISTED INCORRECTLY AT PETLAND DISCOUNTS WEBSITE. Attended vaccination event here through Luv My Pets. Took a little under 2 hours, but it was a beautiful day so I didnt mind waiting. Cashier was very friendly, and they had free range grass fed bully sticks (boogie I know but I love my pup) which my dog enjoyed. Plenty of parking.

Prices are decent but its up to you and your knowledge because the employees know nothing. That being said they have a basic selection of fish at decent prices.
