The 3 times I bought fishes from them ...They die right away ,my aquarium is a well establish tank with over 5 years of been it cultivated. Im new at the neighborhood and front where I come from petlanddiscount was my fav pet store .The first time in this store I didnt notice that they have "fishes on medication" from 3 pearl scales only one survived,2 nd time the same happen but this time I noticed most of fishes gasping for air sitting at bottom again I was told they were "under medication" but that I could buy from the next tank,and again the telescope goldfish die...(In my 75 G I have healthy beautiful fancies goldfish ,thriving bc they are from petlanddiscount on Broadway & 21 st) But while shopping Steinway I visited this store for my 3 th and last time ...I got panda corys ...and yes within hours all of them 3 die...But the albinos corys that I bought the same day from the store at Broadway ARE DOING FINE AND DANDY.This rating is on fish quality.NEVER again I will buy a life "fish or anything" from this store.

This review is for the store located 4310 Ditmars Ave in Astoria, Queens (this store isnt on Yelp or Google). Very rude and uncaring staff. Went in to look at fish and noticed numerous fish dead on the bottom of various tanks, one fish decomposing and being eaten by other fish- which when the staff was notified he simply said "yeah I saw that, Ill fish it out later." The back tank had a horrible scene, which my 3 year old daughter did not fully understand, of at least 7 fish stuck on the filter intake. A different staff member stated that tank was full of "feeder fish," giving the impression that tank didnt matter. If so, why would it be on the floor for public viewing? This shows a real lack of professionalism from this stores staff and begs to question the care of non-aquatic animals in the store (i.e.- the cat that was sleeping in its litter box by the front door). Dont support this store.

This store is now under my personal care i am the new manager here it s a complete 360 from what it used to be ! We are now fully stocked at all times clean neat no smell we now carry salt water fish along with tons of fresh water fish we have a very knoledgeable employees and help full and willing to help you find what ever it is yyou need and if its somthing we dont have in stock we will get it from another store and if its somthing we dont carry we will special order it for you! And our store is constantly adding new merchandise . And we do not sell puppys nore does any of our other stores sell puppys we have never sold puppys nore do we support puppy mills We are petland discounts inc! Petland discounts was the pet store selling puppys from mills not us . If would like to see it to belive it I suggest you do so !

I like to take my son to look at the animals on sundays because I love the way the worker Mel there cleans the cages and makes them look very nice I enjoy the way the reptiles look there cages are nicely done by her but when I go during the week they dont look nice at all thats why Im only giving them a 4 star if they always looked as nice as he does them I would have given 5 stars.

Rudest bunch of morons who have no idea about half the creatures they stock. Check the condition of some of them...... dirty water, nothing to play with, empty food dishes..... a lot of the birds look diseased. Why would you buy form here? They have been shut down so many times in the past. Dont support these crooks well guess wat u need 2 shut up and btw yolo

had a great experience! My boyfriend and I were wanting to start a fish tank, we finally decided and the staff was so nice and gave us all the information we wanted. The manager was explaining to us how to set it up and how to maintain the fish. She made sure that we left satisfied and all our questions answered! will definitely go back!!

Its ok for what its worth; you can really only pick up pet food/litter. They have some stuff for birds & fish it seems too, but overall their options/stock are very limited & I wasnt able to find what I needed when I went there. The people that work there are pretty nice though.

definitely small. definitely hits you with a smell when you first walk in. but they had exactly what I wanted. and that NEVER happens when Im at a pet store in NYC. they were even super friendly about letting me exchange an item that was too big for my dog.
