If youre in the market for running shoes or apparel, or even just have some questions about running in general, then New York Running Company is where you need to be. Located on the second floor of the Columbus Circle Shops, this place is expansive, and boy does it have some great customer service. Ive come here on several occasions to check out some new running shoes and snag some new shorts and tops and have had a great experience each time. When you walk in, youre greeted with their apparel section. From Asics to Mizuno to Nike and New Balance, they pretty much have every major running label here so selection is not an issue. Make your way towards the back of the store, and there youll find the shoe section. Here is where Id say youll spend the most of your time at. Whether or not you know exactly which shoe you want, or need a ton of help, NYRC is there to help you. With their specialists, theyll help do a quick gait analysis from you running on their treadmill, and then assist you in picking out your next pair of running shoes. At NYRC, Ive purchased compression socks, shoe inserts, and other random tidbits. After every purchase here, I am left feeling that I had made an informed decision that will, in the end, help me with my runs. NYRC spares nothing when it comes to quality and customer service, and thus, I am a happy customer. For those who are members of NYRR, you get a nice 10% off your purchase here.

Im used to running in minimalist shoes and did a gait analysis here to get the right fit. They recommended a stability shoe for pronating, came back three days later with blisters all over arches. They swapped me into a neutral shoe with too much cushioning (brooks launch 3) I thought they definitely got it right this time but after using them sparingly with no improvement in feel for three months I tried to exchange them (still in like new condition) but they would not allow it. I thought for a store like this that prides themselves on being experts they would get it right or at least do whatever it takes to get the right fit. No luck. Better of going to dsw or foot locker and saving some money.

On a trip from Europe, we got some running gear here today. They were very helpful and pro-active with some great tips on using the gear, and better alternatives for what we were originally looking for. Since the NYC Half Marathon is our first half marathon ever, we got some great tips about that as well, especially since the first and toughest 10+k is inside Central Park so you need to make sure to strike a balance there. Were gonna meet some of the team at the NYC Half Marathon on St Patricks day, and got invited to a "wind down" run in the week after the run. Highly recommended shop with enthusiast and knowledgeable people. Will certainly pay them a visit again in the future.

A must visit place to understand the right choice of shoe for you. I like running and before visiting this place I didnt know that my feet were not landing in correct position while running and there are different shoes to provide my feet support in appropriate areas based on my own needs. Jerry video recorded me on treadmill with my old Nike running shoes, helped me find appropriate pair of shoes and now while running with them I feel the level of comfort which I never experienced before. Some brands here are really overpriced and in that case you would feel compulsion to buy the same shoes either online or from other big outlets.

I love The Running Company! Theyre a full service shop in Columbus Circle, offering shoes, apparel, training programs and more. Theyre in a fantastic location near the park and are friendly to the entire running community, regardless of whether you are using their own store running/training programs, part of others (like Team in Training), or an individual. They offer bag watch to all runners in their store so you can drop and run without any worries! Staff is always very friendly and knowledgeable. They have a great assortment of clothing, shoes and other gear but prices are in alignment with the upscale Columbus Circle area.

Fitted me for a pair of shoes - Brooks. Took about a month of low mileage training (5 miles / week) and just walking around in them to develop calf and Achilles pain. Called and asked for suggestions. They advised not to walk in the shoes between runs because they arent made for that because I am using other muscles when I walk (!) that walking in them a few days a week might be overdoing it (!) That I should wear other shoes until pain goes away (!) That I should also Roll, stretch, and get a lot of rest (!) Maybe their shoe fittings should come with a PT pamphlet and coupons for therapy. Thanks a lot .

Mixed experiences with the shoe specialists. The first time I got a sales rep who was very knowledgable and helped match me very well to a new shoe. The second time I got someone who knew on paper what they were talking about, but didnt have actual user knowledge of the shoes. That made it a lot more difficult for me, especially since I was trying out a completely different style of running shoe. Their prices are mixed--on sale, shoes are competitive with online retailers, but you have to scratch your head when you find older models for full price when theyre deeply discounted online.

Went in to purchase a pair of running shoes.Tried them on and even went for a video gait analysis (which I am not sure was done correctly by the store rep). They didnt have the color/pattern I was looking for but they said that it would get shipped from their Boulder, Colorado location. Days later and no call as promised. I now need to go elsewhere or online to buy the model I was hoping for. Due to their proximity, I will probably visit again for small items, but it is far from my A list due to the disconnect in customer service.

Horrible, horrible service. I came in to see if I could get shoes as I am very hard to fit. The shoe fitting area was a huge cluster f}*^. No discernible order. I waited a while and finally somebody asked if I needed help. I said yes, but he proceeded to pick up items, straighten the store and otherwise ignore me. Schlepping all the way out here and putting up with the crowds was a a total waste of time. My first visit is also my last.

I was just in this store and was completely if ores for at least 30 mins while other people were being helped. Am I being cruel because they were overrun and busy? No. They were picking and choosing customers. I know its NYC, so there are many people wealthier than I am, but you just lost a sale on the $150 shoes I planned on buying. For people that sell running shoes these fools sure dont know the meaning of hustle

So impressed, they were so helpful to me, went SO ABOVE AND BEYOND. I was on a tight deadline looking for a gift for my husband, having no luck on the internet, and running out of time before his birthday. They not only got me the shoe I was looking for and helped me translate the European sizing, they delivered it to me in 2 hours, and didnt charge me for the delivery! Highly recommend.
