The staff and owner at The Voracious Reader have made it clear that children with special needs are not wanted. Despite what their website states, they are not "family friendly with a deep caring and respect for young people of all ages and abilities" They are in fact, quite the opposite. They lack compassion and understanding for those of us who are different and may be struggling. My daughter and I were singled out and publicly asked to leave in the middle of a childrens reading where the enviornemnt was chaotic at best. My child was not making any more noise than many of the other toddlers who were running around, babbling and throwing books on the floor off the shelfs. She was standing at a puzzle with me behind her, listening to the story while stimming (she was pretty quietly humming to herself while rocking). I will not be subjecting my daughter to this type of exclusion. I hope the other children did not watch this embarassing display of intolerance and learn it was acceptable to treat others that way. I wish everyone there would have watched compassion be modeled towards a child of special needs instead of showing them that we should be excluded, isolated, and treated as both different and less. I hope in the future the Voracious Reader learns to be accepting of young people of all ages and abilities as they have claimed.

Amazing Store! The staff is very caring and knowledgeable. Their advice on gifts has always been right on target. And if they dont have the book they will get it for you within a few days. The store also has a charming tea shop where you are welcomed to sit and enjoy an afternoon of reading. Id like to comment on Rachael Lividini negative experience. I am sorry her experience but her accusation of " children with special needs are not wanted" at Voracious Reader was 100% false. I am in that store EVERY weekend and I sit for HOURS in their beautiful tea shop. Ive witnessed Francine, the owner, and other staff members interact with children of all ages and all disabilities and NEVER once was a child not given the utmost respect!! Im not only applaud but also saddened that Ms. Lividinis would make such false accusations.

There is nothing like a book, the smell of the pages from the shelf, the psychologically intensified turning of the pages. If you want good books, this place is where to find them.
