I made a purchase of a pistol at Gander Mountain this purchase needed to be paid in advance then picked up after the appropriate paperwork was obtained. I went back to pick up the item and after waiting for over 2 hours was told I did not have everything that I needed. As a courtesy they said I would be given a $50 credit. I obtained the required coupon and returned the next day at that time I was there an additional 1 1/2 hours. I was assisted by nice girl named Jen and taken up front to check out. They reversed what I had paid for the pistol previously which was $319 +tax and when they rang me up again for the pistol +other supplies $60 total I had to pay an additional $44. This did not make sense to me but when I questioned it they said it was additional tax. In my mind I should have had to pay an additional $10 or $15. When I got back in the car and I looked over the receipts I saw instead of charging me $319 for the pistol which is what I had originally paid, they charged me $349. So really it was a $10 credit. I felt I was mis led and, when I questioned it I was told they didnt know how to explain it any other way it was was just more tax. I found the gun counter to be very unorganized, lots of employees running around but not really being very productive. Also all of you Peeps watch if they give you a credit for your troubles its really not one...I gave 3 stars because Ellen was wonderful when I picked out my pistol and Jen was very helpful.

The guns and ammo section has went from an 8 to a 1 in my rating because all the long guns are now so far behind the counter you can not see what they have unless you ask. Also all the pistol ammo has been placed behind the counter so you cannot see what they have unless you have binoculars or ask. I like to look and compare prices without making the staff run back and forth a dozen times just to tell them they dont have anything im interested in.. Service on buying a gun depends on when you go into the store sometimes you can get lucky and get a salesman right away and sometimes the lines are backed up and they are short staffed. Over all for a Big Chain like Gander Mountain I think they could Improve a bit.

Some of the employees seem lost in their own store. They lack any sort of basic social or sales conversational ability. Called firearms dept. Asked if they had pyrodex... huh? Whats that? The kid asks. Its the legal equivalent to black powder for muzzle loaders. Paradex? He asks again . PYRODEX I say... The kid asks out loud Do we have Paradex... it like black powder but not he says. No, he tells me. I say, your website says you carry it in the kingston store. He says, yeah, no the website can say we carry stuff we dont. Huh? I say.... is that all? he asks... I guess so...

Bought several items from them, while the products are good the people suck. Never buy anything archery related from them on their advice or get your bow serviced here. They have no idea what they are talking about. I was told Nockturnals wouldnt fit my arrows but they do and the one set he said would fit dont and are now lodged in my arrow. Going back to get a new arrow on them tomorrow because they screwed up. Also bought my first bow here, they told me it was adjustable and it was not and gave me the wrong arrows to go with it. They have no idea what they are doing there.

I am an avid outdoors man and love shopping at this Gander! I usually avoid chain store shopping whenever possible but these guys & girls are great! I have found the staff extremely knowledgeable and always willing to take the time to make sure I am getting exactly what I need without any unnescesary pressure to buy anything! I travel an extra distance just to shop there and it is always worth tthe trip! I feel you can find things to complain about as far as prices and selections may be concerned but they make up for it with courtious sevice!

Guns counter is very understaffed for the size of their inventory. Long waiting time for service to be waited on at gun counter. Also Firearms are well over priced compared to smaller shops around the area. For such a large retail sporting good store they should be able to offer a more competitive price. They also advertise that they buy used firearms but they offer next to nothing of the value. Nice looking store well stocked but you be the judge.

Despite being perpetually in a state of going out of business, this store is still pretty cool. They dont have like, a ton of stuff, but if you need workout clothes or dad pants, this is the place. Also has a decent selection of firearms and bows and fishing stuff, but its a little picked over. Staff has amazingly high morale for working at a half empty superstore.

I called about a family emergency pertaining to a new employee there and got your customer service girl named Desiree who told me that the employee didnt work there and was so rude about the whole situation to the point of even laughing at me. nothing about the situation was funny in my opinion. Desiree needs to learn a few things about customer service.

I recently purchased a gun from Gander in Kingston NY. When I picked it up the sales clerk named Nick Babich Sr. handled the transaction. He was very professional, courteous and efficient with all the paper work that was required. A timely process went very well thanks to his efforts. Thank you Nick.

I wish they would get rid of the number system all you do is stand around waiting not to mention the used guns are just about the same price as a new one They also need to get a bigger selection of firearms

This store used to be great...now it is difficult to find anything in stock. The camping department is basically nonexistent.
