Ive visited many gun shops in the Hudson Valley area and Collector Rifle and Ammo Inc is by far the best. Scott and his team have a wide knowledge and selection of firearms and accessories ranging from relics to modern day ARs; their inventory is impressive and their prices are competitive with Amazon, Optics Planet, Gun Broker, and other large chain sporting goods stores (Dicks, Gander Mountain). If Scott doesnt have in stock (and he usually does), he can order it for you at a competitive price and have it in the shop in a few short days. Also, Scott and his team will take the time to assist with instruction/installation of new accessories for your firearms which is a service you wont get many other places. I have read other reviews complaining about the shop being a bit crowded but I would say that it is a testament to the overall quality and consumer experience being far and above the competition. I would recommend this dealer to any shooter or enthusiast; amateur to expert. Collector Rifle and Ammo will meet your needs and expectations.

Plenty Guns and Ammo.Customer service terrible. The old guy wearing the Glock is a Prick. If you ask for a gun and they have it they tell you to look over there and expect you to find it, this is without the shop being busy. Terrible customer service. I bought a Shotgun with a pistol grip. I dont care for pistol grips so I ordered a butt stock the same day I bought the shotgun on Monday. I was told by scott it will be ready to intstall on the following thursday, two weeks later no butt stock. The butt stock finally came in. They installed it and charged me $10.00. I dont care about the $10. but scott tells me there would be no charge and that ornery old man charged me, he swears hes a tough guy. The other heavy guy, not scott should find a job in a warehouse, where theres no customers. The old guy, put him out to pasture. Scott seems overwelmed but not a bad guy. Theres definitly other gun shops and you can bet Ill never go back to CR&A. The old guys got to go, owner or not.

Great little gun shop. They treat their customers with respect and will answer any question you ask them in detail (no matter how stupid it may be) if they have the time to do so. Highly recommended for first time buyers since they will walk you through the process of owning a firearm but also give you good recommendations for your first gun (aka they dont try to push the expensive models on you like some stores do). Their prices are very reasonable for both new and used guns. Keep in mind that their store is small, it can get very crowded so dont get upset if they sometimes jump from one person to another. Come there early to avoid the crowd. Their selection of firearms on the floor is pretty good. They have 2 whole racks of surplus guns, of which its not uncommon to see a rare mauser or good condition M1 Garand. There is a surcharge on credit cards so bring cash if you can.

If you need some sort of ammo these guys have it they run a very busy shop. as well they are the guys at every major gun show in 3 states with like 10 tables of ammo. There selection of new and used guns is extensive there shop is packed full. And yes they get very busy. during the day even middle of the week they may have 5-10 guys in line for the counter , if you are the guy they are dealing with their attention is on you and they are knowledgable and helpful, but you do have to wait your turn selections of black arms, parts and vintage and used guns is their speciality . good selection of handguns as well . tremendous selection of surplus and new ammunitioni n stock. while their show prices follow prevailing market at the shows there store prices are consistent and reasonable

My experience here was not great, though the customer service is decent. They sold me a magazine that they told me would fit in a gun and it turned out it didnt, something they could have found out if they just tried it since the gun was right there. Also things got very overpriced after the recent hysteria, I understand that is happening everywhere, but when comparing their prices to other dealers in Putnam and Pennsylvania, they are gouging much more than others. The 3% surcharge on credit card purchases is something I havent seen at any other gun shop Ive been to as well. They have a large selection of cool stuff, but my experience has kept me away from there since I went.

Im at a point where I would rather buy from the folks at Collector than just about anywhere else. THEY KNOW FIREARMS, they know ammo, they carry just about everything in stock, and their prices are very low. I have never had anything but a great shopping experience there. In the Spring of 2013, when nobody could get anything, Scott just happened to take delivery of a Ruger Super Redhawk the day I walked in asking about the Redhawk Id placed a deposit on *in November, before Newtown*. Suffice it to say that he cut me a great deal on this beast, and it has become my favorite handgun. These folks are just plain great---straight-up honest, too.

Guy has a ton of guns and ammunition in this small shop. About half of it is military surplus; when I was there he had 3 M1 Garands, an M1 Carbine, a nice FN-49, 2 Mosin Nagant 91/30 snipers, 1 MN 91/30, 3 MN M38s, 2 MN M44s.... all in decent shape. Also a few K31s & K98s plus a good number of Enfields. If youre into Milsurps this is a good stop. Unfortunately the guy behind the counter was kind of a jerk to me, but I ended up making a purchase anyway. Going south on RT82 its before hopewell junction, on the right. Not sure why google has it off by RT52.

Their selection is good, and they carry a variety of NY legal MSRs and milsurp guns, but their prices are high and the old man (owner?) is kind of rude. An Ares SCR here was about $879 I believe and at Precision Armory in Carmel they had one for $699. Most of their rifles seem to be $50-$150 overpriced compared to stuff in the area. Ammo prices are decent, but .22 is overpriced for some reason. If youre looking for surplus guns or MSRs theyll probably have what you want, but make sure you research prices first.

This place is awesome, they have everything you need. I came in with a sporterized Mauser I inherited, I had no idea what ammunition it took and brought it in. Charlie identified exactly what ammunition it needed and helped me out. This place is staffed with outstanding gents. Many people seem to have forgotten the nuances of conversation, because I dont know how you could classify these people as rude. Been there about 3 times over the past 6 years so Im far from a regular.

They have a great selection. However if you like standing around in a tight and cluttered space while being ignored while they look past you and wait on others this is your place to go! Feel free waist a day! I walked out and went about 20 minutes down the road to Precision Armory and had an outstanding experience! In and out with the gun that I wanted in 20 minutes! Dont bother with the smug attitudes at Collectors try another store!
