Fist and foremost the craft vodka served here is not one of the better offerings in the area. An oily mouth feel is achieved rather then the silky smoothness of better craft vodka and the sweetness is not cut by acidity or spice found in better offerings. The vodka is distilled from a mixed grain mash making it a sort of southern style vodka. All is not lost however as this is a very new distillery with plenty of time to develop and improve. Expect to see gin and rum offerings (thanks to their a1 license) in the near future, and whiskey/burbon following as time allows for aging. The entire experience is saved by their craft cocktails made with house made syrups and kombucha (fermented tea), as well as the the historic location (former Buffalo barrel factory). The owner is approachable and fun, with a wealth of knowledge about the history of the location and the first ward. Overall this place is worth a visit and has a very good chance of developing into a fantastic operation with a bit of polish.

The newest gem in Buffalos crown. If you love an authentic taste of Buffalos history distilled by a local family, this is the place for you. The family has lovingly and creatively brought an old barrel factory (Circa 1903) back to life. This venue is great for drinks, music or just to marvel at a beautifully restored structure. A must for anyone who wants to experience the nest of "New Buffalo".

Lakeward Spirits has crafted a vodka of which I had only tasted once before many years ago when a friend brought back a smuggled bottle from Russia. The flavor when sipped "neat" rolls over the tongue with a distinct rye note and smooth finish. Some may not be accustomed to the distinct flavor, however I found it very satisfying and recommend you visit the Barrel Factory and take the tasting tour!
