Tom -
Dawg this place was alright. Saw a lotta raving about it so I had ta stop in. Lemme just preface this by saying Im from suburban midwestern america so Im used to quaint little bakeries in every lil town with a lot of "oh ya sure you betcha" talk and that ish aint get NO fanfare. No celebration its just there. Aint no hip urbanites comin from across town to check em out. So what I got here was a big city replication of that experience. At least the prices was good like a buck ten per donut. Thats nice. No frills little diner looking interior was classic and authentic. However the service was a bit...... how do I say.... snippy. Thats new yoaak for ya though. Mite be fun to just hang out there for a few minutes just to hear how people say coffee "KWAAfee". I got a chocolate sprinkle raised one, a cinnamon powder cake one and a chocolate cake one. The raised one was unusually good like a lil buttery creamy almost, it was nice. Made me say mmhmm as I ate it. The cake ones was just dry and crusty. Now maybe it was cuz I came in at like 4pm and the ish been sittin there for like 12 hours but that aint no excuse cuz this is america and donuts are a priority. If you want something quaint this might fit the bill but also you probly in the wrong city anyway. For a donut in this city I say go all out and get Doughnut Plant. Its hip as F, expensive as H, gourmet as a MF, but its unique and dam good. 3 stars for this ish. Aint nothin super special rightchere.

Ive been coming to this great shop since early 90s for the cream chocolate sprinkle donut. The cream taste so natural and sweetness not too overpowering. However theyve been seriously slacking off as of late. Many times well into the morning theyre terribly understocked at the height of rush hour. They used to be fully stocked at 6am. I dont know if the baker wakes up late or simply is lazy but there is no reason to get there at 8am to see empty shelves. This is just sad. They choose to disappoint their faithful. One more thing is the quality. While they are arguably the best donuts ever, it seems as though the Baker has started taking shortcuts which seemingly is showing. One way Ive noticed is with the cream chocolate sprinkle donut. It once was so natural tasting and now it is so off putting now I have to scrape off the cream unfortunately. But theres maybe hope. Moes Doughs. They just opened at 128 Nassau Ave and rumor has it the Baker was the head baker at Peter Pan. Unhappy I guess with diminished quality at Peter Pan , he opened his own shop. This is rumor of course. I tried some today though. Really good! So while Moes looks promising Peter Pan I would say needs to get their quality act together, or not. Peter pan is still awesome. Thanks for reading.

Since we live in Greenpoint. Brooklyn and our entire relationship developed while living here, we wanted to incorporate as many elements, local businesses, and locations for our wedding celebration. Peter Pan Donuts has been a constant throughout our relationship because they are so delicious and live up to all of the hype; we had to include them somehow in the evening. Working with Donna who is so nice, professional, and courteous we were able to affordably order about 15 dozen Powered Heart Shape Donuts filled with their Signature White Cream; that is out of this world amazing. Donna and her team at Peter Pan were able to bake and package the donuts in their own bags and deliver to our Williamsburg venue with just two weeks notice. The donuts in the white old fashioned "You deserve a donut" bags were the perfect take home favors for our guests as they left at the end of the night and were a huge hit! So many guests became instantly hooked and wanted to know where to get more as they were the best donuts they have ever tasted. We cannot recommend their baking services enough for any celebration. We are so happy we could support a local business and give all of our guests a taste of Brooklyn as part of our wedding, we would happily order from them again!

If you are in Brooklyn, or anywhere in the five boroughs for that matter, you will never find a better baked pastry than here. I will let you in on a little history lesson, since I happen to know a thing or two about this place. The recipes have been the product of years of refining, and originated from home recipes. After the owners knew they had something special Peter Pan was born. I dont need to reiterate why the doughnuts of this place are the best you will ever find in New York, because mostly everyone that has reviewed this place so far has done it justice in that department. The one thing I want to point out to people is the most important: atmosphere and a feeling of home. The owner knows how to cater to customers, not only with food, but with hospitality that is rare to find in the bustling city especially within the ever changing area of Brooklyn. This is a culinary landmark of new york that everyone should try to go to whenever they have the chance!

Pros: - cream-filled Bavarian donut (fluffy donut, smooth & lightly sweetened cream) - perfect filling distribution (each bite had a good ratio of filling to dough) - red velvet - coconut - honey dip - quick service - GREAT prices (~ $1 per donut) - cute, old-fashioned, homey decor Cons: - it was a little confusing where to get in line because the shop was bustling with activity, but I think it adds to the charm :) - normal doughnuts dont cut it for me anymore (I used to be obsessed with Doughnut Plant, but PETER PAN WINS at life) Bottom line: I went because Tina Fey told me to and I love Tina Fey so much so how could I not. To this day, the Bavarian cream donut is the best donut Ive ever eaten and I cant wait to return.

Fresh made donuts to kill for at incredibly good prices make Peter Pan worth a long visit to experience this breakfast Mecca in Greenpoint. Arrive early as a line forms for the famous donuts though it does move pretty quickly. You can sit in the back and enjoy other cheap breakfast treats, but my recommendation is to grab a donut and find a bench in the nearby McCaran park and enjoy the lovely area and people watching. The Red Velvet donut is probably the most popular, but Id suggest waiting for a fresh batch of any type and getting that as the warm, melty frosting makes any type delicious. The donuts were nicely fried and not too greasy or heavy. The also went perfectly with the cheap ($1) cup of coffee.

So I didnt really think that I liked donuts all that much... until I came here. I had come around 1 or 2 pm or so on a Saturday afternoon- I came in and a few trays of freshly made assortments came out direct from the oven and I decided to sample the simple one with vanilla icing and one with chocolate icing. Amazing!!! I had no idea donuts could taste like this! Though I do like doughnut plant- I like Peter Pan much better because its less dense- and more fluffy. Plus you cant beat fresh out of the oven taste. Theres also the old New York diner feel that you just dont get anymore with old timey New Yorkers with classic Brooklyn/Jewish accents mixing with the din of a busy shop.
