I, along with my family have spent alot of money at The Cake Boutique since it has opened and Ive seen the beautiful work that they have done, everyone always consulted with Alexandra the owner. This was my first time ordering a custom cake for my fiances 30th birthday and I was very excited given that my family members have had all hand-made custom cakes from them before. I ordered a 2- layer 6inch on top, 8 inch on bottom (not very big) cake made and covered in fondant, I asked for Philles flyers, eagles and 2 business logos to go along the side of the cake, no problem I was told. The logos were about 3 inches each. When I recieved the cake all of the logos were printed out on sugar paper and cut out and pasted on the cake. I was less than impressed when I saw it. My sister in law had a grooms cake made there for her wedding with phillies sports logos and they hand made them, mine were cut and pasted . Not to mention that I paid $200.00 for this cake, for sugar paper to be pasted on. I was told by Lori the assistant that there was "mis communication- sorry" there was no miscommunication, I came in for a consultation and was very detailed with what I wanted- I even said things like " when you make the logo" and " please leave this out when you make the logo" Not once did she say - were printing it on sugar paper as a short cut - yet when I called to tell her of my dissatisfaction there was an excuse for everything " miscommunication" " you paid for sugar paper- you didnt pay for hand made logos" THANKS for letting me know that after the fact. Had I known that in the beginning I would have been even more clear that I expected hand made logos, didnt know I had to spell it out when thats what the cake boutique is know for - really, if I wanted a cake with sugar paper I would have gone to shoprite or acme and paid a much lower price- I went there simply because I expected more, and if you go on their website you see all beautiful cakes. I did order the cake a week before--- however, I called 3x the week prior and they were closed for vacation, which gave me little time to make the order, and really wasnt my fault that they were on vacation I did call the " 2 weeks prior"--that was also another excuse, not really sure why it was an excuse though. I asked the assistant to please let me speak with the owner, Im not looking for a free cake - or anything free by all means, I just wanted to let her know whats going on with her business when shes not there. The consultation and the cake were 2 different outcomes. I was told the the owner " will probably not call me back" because "she is in and out this week" Wow, how do you respond to that?! Either the assistant didnt mention that I wanted a call or they just dont care. Im not one to complain, and I really didnt want to have to resort to a google review, although this is "just" a cake, its something I paid $200.00 for, and expected to be given $200.00 quality, needless to say the phone experience afterwards full of excuses and blocking me from getting to the owner when I asked for a call back left me feeling pretty annoyed. The lack of eagerness to satisfy a good customer has really left a bad taste in my mouth and although I enjoyed their cake in the past - and would have loved to continue spending money there I will not be returning. A word to the wise : If you want a custom cake made here talk to the owner.

The Cake Boutique did a SPECTACULAR three-tiered Cinderella cake for my bridal shower to go with my theme with gold leaves wrapped around and a beautiful carriage on top. They also did a full dessert display featuring carriage cookies, rock candy, mini cupcakes with our wedding logo imprinted on it, fruit tarts, chocolate balls, cake pops with gold leaves and much more...she even provided containers for people to take what they wanted and gorgeous canisters and trays to display everything. My guests could not stop raving about how beautiful and delicious it was, a few even texted me after the event asking for her contact information for their upcoming events! All her ingredients are top-quality and you can tell the difference once you taste one bite! When it came time for my wedding, I wanted alexandra and her team to use all their creativity so I just told her my colors and theme and was completely comfortable trusting her to create the design on her own (and Im a HUGE control freak so thats saying a lot!) I loved that it was one less thing to worry about! The cake was beyond anything I ever imagined! It had a tree like quality to go with our fairy tale theme and topped with a dazzling gold beaded tier. I am a huge Disney fan but wanted the Disney to be subtle and they delivered! They included a tiny Mickey head carved into the "bark" of the Tree as well as my husband and my initials wrapped in a heart. So unique and stunning and of course.. absolutely delicious! It blew everyone away in design and taste!!!! Even the venue (one of the top venues in NJ) and my wedding planner (celebrity wedding planner) reached out to me after the wedding to get her information to use for future clients, they were that impressed. They are true artists here and all so nice and easy to work with. It was a breeze setting up a consultation. LOOK NO FURTHER FOR YOUR WEDDING BAKERY, THIS IS IT!!!! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!

Hi, this a follow-up to my daughters post concerning her Sweet 16 cake. I thank the manager for calling me to discuss the review as I was unaware that my daughter posted, although, I did know she was disappointed. This was my first experience with ordering a cake. I looked at the companys website and saw numerous beautifully deocrated cakes. Because I was so undecided on which cake to order, the salesperson informed me that I could provide the colors and theme, and allow the staff to have creative control with the design. This seemed like a good idea since I was indecisive and their Sweet 16 portfolio had gorgeous pictures. Pick up day was also party day, so I sent my sister to pick up the cake. My daughter and I both saw the cake when she delivered it to our house 2 hours prior to party time. We were both shocked and surprised by the design which reminded me of a gothic night scene. While the colors were black, pink and silver, I wasnt expecting to receive a black cake, with silver stars and the numbers 1 and 6 in the color pink. I understand the team was focusing on the theme more than the colors, thus the outcome was a cake void of color even though it was for a girl. I take partial responsibility since I relinquished design control. I was also told that the matter could have been rectified at pick-up if I were the one picking up. So this is a miscommunication and lesson for all. SN: I only wanted to post an update to my daughters comment and not create a new post. Thus the rating is 3 because I did hear the cake was good, and I would consider doing business with the Cake Boutique again with better communication.
