Good variety and decent prices. Very convenient location. I go here for my gardening and lawn needs. They have a good selection of items and Ive never had a problem with anything Ive planted from there. They carry Jonathan Green grass seed which contains better quality cultivars than the bigger brands like Scotts. They have darker color and improved disease resistance. This is the best grass seed you can buy at a store locally that I could find. JG is also a NJ based company. Metropolitan also carries a wide range of Espoma products as well. I just wish theyd carried more organic lawn care items but they seem to have more and more each year. They also have a wide selection of good quality mulch, soil, compost, decorative stone and gravel. At the end of the season (and maybe before the season starts? I forget) they have a big sale on everything. Thats when I like to pick up cedar mulch at around half price to top off the beds and get containers for indoor plants. The staff has always been helpful and helped me find what I was looking for or help me find a product to solve a lawn or garden product I was having. I liked their old location on main st better. During the warmer months I like to wlk as much as possible when going to local stores but the new location means Id have to walk across a few major high way crossings which makes me not feel that comfortable. They have a lot of parking though in the new location which is great when picking up big and bulky items.

Horrible customer service! Rude help and they know basically nothing about plants. Sold me acid loving plant fertilizer for my $50.00/each Mandevilla vines!! I kept saying to the girl, are you sure they are acid loving plants? She insisted. Wrong! I looked it up a little late after I fed them and I come to find they should not be fed high acid fertilizer. Not happy. Plus when I asked where a certain item was a helper said she saw them over that way and pointed, so I went the direction she said, couldnt find what I was looking for and came back to her to ask again. That apparently pissed her off and she pointed again and said, right there!! She was so rude. Normal, friendly sales help will walk you to what youre looking for. Not her. Not a good experience. In Paramus, they help you to your car when you purchase a lot of plants, not Fort Lee. Youre on your own! Never going back.

Spoke to the Paramus exchange yesterday the said I could call today to have a bouquet table setting for a funeral mass today delivered to Cliffside Park. The woman on the phone basically told me i should have called last night or earlier today in a very demeaning manner. Thank you I am well aware there is a short period of time to get this accomplished. Your insensative tone and approach to the situation will guarantee that I will never let any of my family or friends purchase from your store ever again. We have had nothing but good experiences with the Paramus Exchange. Metropolitan Fort Lee should have training on how to handle bereavement situations. Unfortunately it is very sad situation and therfore I will be stopping by the store to speak with the manager on this matter before contacting the better business bureau.

We where ordering flower arrangements for out party one week ahead of the party. We felt that a BIG place like Metropolitan Exchange would have good selection of flowers and would be happy to take our order. But they told us we should order flowers 2-3 weeks before and made us feel like we are the worst customers ever. And the prices they quoted where outrages. But they succeeded in scaring my wife to place an order. Tow days before the party they called us to let us know that they do not have the vases we ordered and flower would be substituted as well. When we get the arrangements, instead of $8 per stem lilies we had $2 per irises and cheap vases. My advise - shop around. Metropolitan Exchange is big, but small local florist will get you better price and service

I came here to buy a gift for my friends mother who was at the hospital for breast cancer. I asked for a 30 dollar arrangement including a vase with sunflowers. The florist then hands me a bouquet and says its 70 dollars! I tell her again that I was only looking to spend 30 dollars, so she remakes the bouquet with 1 sunflower and 2 carnations which looked awful. Then she proceeded to "wrap" the bouquet in tissue paper and vinyl- and it looked utterly pathetic. I ended up trying to spruce the arrangement myself and got rid of the wrapping completely. I will not go there again or recommend to anyone else to go. And to the girl that works at the counter, if you hate working there find another job and lose the attitude you give to your customers!

Hit or miss, depending on whos working there, and plants available. Ive shopped there three times. The first time and second times, I went, I got a reasonable buy on flower bushes, competitive with Lowes, I felt. Plus, the first time, the cashier threw in a bunch of heavily discounted, aged plants, for free. The third time I went, I bought two perennials "on sale", but, the flowers were undersized compared to the large price pots they were in. So, they still seemed a bit overpriced, compared to Lowes. But, I also got an annual flower plant "on sale" that seemed like a good buy. Have to pick and choose a bit. Selection is pretty good. I find that each garden store carries its on variety of plants, with some overlap.

I agree when the Fort Lee location was on Main Street, although smaller, service was better. Additionally, I do agree with the staff being rude .... They either do not like their job, do not get treated well or are just not customer focused, because they never assist ... They will answer a question while moving or watering a plant, but do not make you feel they want to help. Is it them or is this the direction they are getting from the owners. I also agree about the flower area .... Flowers are supposed to make you feel cheery or associated with a meaningful experience. However, with the lackluster personality of the people who run that area, I am surprised all the flowers are not droopy.

Nasty, Nasty, Nasty! This shop is overpriced, and the sales help is rude, uninformed and they dont give a sh#@ about the customer. The idea of "Customer Service" has never dawned on management in this store. They are there to collect you cash, and they make no bones about it. I was just told that I needed to "hurry up" (get my credit card out faster) b/c there were suckers waiting in line behind me. You can get cheaper, prettier orchids at Whole Foods. Ditto flowers. Plus you wont be abused by the idiots behind the register. Flowers, Plants...happy purchases, right? Not here. This staff can take the joy out of your giving, faster than they take you money for the overpriced product!

I purchased over $1000 worth of plants from this store for an office and as soon as I got them they started dying. I found out from our office plant service that the palms they sold us have a really short shelf life. When I called to complain they were nasty and rude and absolutely refuse to exchange. Now a couple of months later we have spider mites in our palm tree. I called to see if they could exchange the tree and I was told rudely that we dont sell plants with bugs, but when I pressed he said plants get bugs thats what happens. There is zero attempt at customer service. I understand that plants are perishable, but there is no need to be rude to customers!!
