I dont have nothing good to say about the town, but I WILL SAY MARKET BASKET IS A VERY GOOD GROCERY STORE. I dont meet eye to eye with them sometimes, but Market Basket do give the youth, the elderly, the disabled, and those who conceder themselves to be above all a chance to work. A chance to keep busy, stay out of trouble, help show and support work ethnic. In a town like Portsmouth where 89% of the people are strung out on drugs, prostituting themselves, depress, down, corrupt schools, and systems the one thing that is good for youth who are trying to find a way out of all the cayous is MARKET BASKET. There is almost always someone to assist me, and everyone there try their best to accommodate the customers. The managers are respectable people, they are not rude like many. I saw one of the managers get yelled out from a customer and the manager handled himself very well. Another manager assisted by co-workers stopped shop lifters from taking someone bag, groceries, and much more. The youth that dont go astray are very helpful, and I know quite a few who was bad going in and turned out decent just because they worked at MARKET BASKET. BAKERY: The young ladies and gentlemen there are always polite, ready to serve, and have treats ready for customers to sample. A toddler was getting on his mothers last nerve and the young lady over the counter went out of her way to assist the mother by calming the toddler down with a treat. SANDWICH DEPT: They do a good job there too. Dave always make the best sandwiches for me. The rest are good but I prefer Dave to make mine, just as a few other customers prefer the other worker. Dave makes the sandwiches with care, a smile, and make you feel like you belong. Deli: They are always to take your orders, I like the number calling system they have. You take a number and when your number comes up, they call it and you place your order. Theyre fast too, and if you dont feel comfortable with the selection you choose they will change it with no haul, Im picky so I know. DAIRY: Before I had to quit egg nog I use to call around and the only store that would get my case was MARKET BASKET, and they held it for me to pick up cause I couldnt get the next day. If its something I need and MARKET BASKET dont have it I just give them the name of the item and what do know, they call me up and they have the item ready for me. SEAFOOD: Steves the man to see, he make sure you get the best fish, or what ever it is you want and provide you with great recipes, and how to clean the seafood too. I like going down the alies the elderly and the disable workers make sure I get the right product, and I love seeing them, Jeffery always great me. Ray always great me too and they keep the store well kept together with assistance. And when it comes to bagging Patsy is the best. She dont just throw the groceries in the bag in place them in the bag so that they dont damage. I like that. QUALITY. And the young men and women running the registers and assisting in bagging the groceries also do a very good job. They also help the elderly and people who may need a helping hand loading their items into their car. But most of all I love walking into a store and everyone knows you and know what you want. They treat you as if thats where you belong. MARKET BASKET ON WOODBURY IS THE PLACE TO SHOP FOR GOOD QUALITY PRODUCTS AT REASONABLE PRICES, AND GOOD RELIABLE QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE

Ive been to this store numerous times and every single time Ive had to ask for help, Ive been astounded at the rudeness of the employees. I always feel bad about interrupting people when they appear to be busy so Im super polite when I have to do it yet, every time Ive had to ask for help, Ive been treated like I just interrupted them doing brain surgery to ask where the sandwich wraps are (why arent they in the bread aisle???). The deli...forget about it. Again...I dont like interrupting so, one time I stood at the counter waiting for this girl to finish what she was doing and acknowledge me and it NEVER HAPPENED. I stood there for close to 5 minutes just trying to get her to meet my eyes and the girl behind the counter delibertately ignored me. She kept glancing my way but wouldnt meet my eyes and I was the only person standing there! I couldnt believe it. I know, I probably should have just shouted "Excuse me " and made her take my order but, I just couldnt be bothered with it so, I walked away. I will never attempt to use their deli again and, honestly, I wont even go to Market Basket (on Woodbury) anymore unless I know that they have what I want and where it is. I prefer Market Baskets prices but, Id rather pay more at Shaws (which is right around the corner) and not deal with the bad attitudes. To Market Basket Employees: I dont blame you if you arent loving your job but, these days we should all be grateful to have a job at all. Suck it up and at least pretend to give a crap.

I had a bad experience at this market, were visitors from Boston staying in an inn nearby, we usually get groceries and stuff we need while enjoying the Portsmouth area, been some rudeness of some customers and few of your staff, but today it was a floor manager who was totally disrespectful towards me as I was gathering some groceries I looked for a basket cause I had a handful things on my hands so I reached down to grab one , it was a closed cashier line, as I was placing my groceries in the basket this floor manager saw me and grab 2 cans of pets food and throwed on the belt making a really noisy and disrespectful behavior towards me..this happened around 330 pm today..Wednesday the 30th, he was working at the podium center of the cashiers...Ive been a market basket customer for many years...disappointed how managers are unable to manage themselves how to treat customers..not the first hoping to be the last..thank you many of your staff do a great job as usual...

My daughter and I go every week at least once and the prices are teriffic. I have never had any employee ignore me. I have however had cashiers mumble "Hi, how are you" with no degree of interest or sincerity at all, let alone a smile. Granted, when most of us say that we really dont want 2 minutes of what is currently going on in that persons life, but the tone of voice and facial expression should at least sound like they are among the living. Also, when in there the other day, I actually thanked the cashier for counting back my change. So much nicer than having the bills, receipt and coins all wadded up and handed to me. Overall I love this store but I think they should hire me to just make sure all customers are treated with respect and to perhaps guide the younger, less experienced employees in the fine art PR.

I like the market basket chain, this one is woodburry is closest to me and I like this shopping lot, in addition to your standard groceries they have deli counter and a good array of produce. The only thing that is rather limited is things like packaging materials, disposable containers .. etc I also find it to be affordable and favorable by the locals, which tends to make it packed sometimes with not enough space and long waiting lines.
