This is one star- for the potatoes at whole foods market not for the store or the company. Every time I buy bulk bags of potatoes here they are green. Ive tried switching it up and buying different kinds, but so far it doesnt matter- you can tell whether they are green in the Yukon but the red potatoes you cant. Look for my photo above as an example of this. Please produce section! Step up your game on the potatoes! This is horridly shameful! Potatoes Turning Green Whether store-bought or homegrown, potatoes will turn green when they are exposed to light. Most folks know that they shouldn’t eat potatoes that have turned green, or at least cut away the affected portion. But its not actually the green color that is the problem. The green color comes from the pigment chlorophyll, produced as a response to light. The potato tuber that we eat is actually a modified stem structure that grows underground. The "eyes" of the potato tuber are buds, which will sprout into shoots. Chlorophyll itself is not toxic; however, another response of the potato tuber to light exposure is increased production of a colorless alkaloid called solanine. The amount of solanine increases with the length of exposure and the intensity of light. Consuming a large quantity of solanine can cause illness, or even death in extreme cases. However, most people are not likely to eat enough of the affected tissue to cause illness, because of solanines bitter taste. The highest concentration of solanine is in the skin of the potato; removing the green portion will also remove most of the toxin. Sprouts of the eyes are also high in solanine and should be removed before cooking. Potatoes will turn green when growing too close to the soil surface, as well as when stored under even low light conditions -- thus, the recommendations to mound potato plants in the garden and store harvested potatoes in complete darkness. The next time you see a green potato, be thankful for that color change. Its warning you of the presence of toxic solanine.

Ill admit it. Im a Whole Foods junkie. I know its not good for me (price wise), but I keep coming back time and time again. The produce is super fresh, I love the fact that they use paper bags instead of plastic, the juiced juices (is that a phrase? If not, Im claiming it) are delicious (Just Beet It is my personal fav), the fish selection is terrific as is the meat selection. Whenever I need speciality items, WF doesnt disappoint. They usually have what Im looking for. I also have to say that I rather enjoy their sushi. Its consistent and fresh as well. I love that I can get straight up nigiri or a roll without all the sauces on them. Did I mention that you can have a delicious alcoholic beverage while you shop? Score! I have not really had a chance to enjoy the tap room food, but I did do Oyster Fest with my girlfriend over the summer and it was not only excellent quality, but an excellent price! By the way, download their app and you will get all of their specials and discounts. It is a money saver!

Whole Foods is definitively one of the healthiest places you can shop for food. You find great selections of fresh, organic produce that can be a little pricey, but worth it if you care about your health. They make awesome things in house such as fresh bread, juice, and snacks! Employees are very knowledgeable about their products. This isnt your typical grocery store - they offer amazing selections on vitamins, soaps, and body care products that are made naturally. Even if youre not here to shop, you can pick from a plethora of ready-to-take-home food. They have awesome salads, soups, and desserts. The store is laid out very neatly and everything is easy to find. Even though many items are on the expensive side, you cant find a huge selection of organic and local products at other stores like you can here. Overall a great store to shop at and find items to make you healthier.

Not a lot of prepared gluten free/vegan items on the hot bar, inconsistent about accepting clean refillable containers for bulk purchases, customer service non existent, have seen customers eating out of bulk bin in front of employees without any employee intervention. Management: please coach your team to provide customer service to people eating directly out of the bulk bins and get your team aligned with your corporate policy on bringing your own containers. Ive shopped in Whole Foods locations in Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Nevada, and California and your location is the only location that has ever attempted to lie to me about a "health code" that prohibits use of clean containers brought from home.

Warning: Dont go here if you have visual impairment! I am completely blind on the left side in both my eyes because of a brain issue. I always use my white cane. I have never been brushed side, ran into, and even knocked down by anyone more than at Whole Foods. This has occurred not only by the shoppers there, but also numerous times by employees! When it happens, I usually dont get apologies, even by the employees: instead I get what I call "The Look", like I am in their way, like I am troubling them just by my mere presence, like my handicap is causing them more difficulty than it does to me! So, in closing, if you are visually impaired and like to get ran over and get abused, by all means, shop here.

We have a strict diet due to food allergies and I can find many quality, reputable items here! I also so appreciate how I can get something made at the cafe area that is perfectly safe for my daughter to eat even with so many allergies the cooks are careful to prepare and create something specific for her which for us is amazing! They also have a kids club where you can stop by customer service and pick up a free snack for your child while shopping and also sometimes when we pass along the flower area, one of the workers has given my daughter a single fresh cut flower which always is so kind and fun. Its not a place for great sales but has so much to offer in variety of products and quality.

Wholemart doesnt care if you complain. Wholemart fire pregnant women! Steven Smith STL (manager) at Folsom fires pregnant women for time theft. We have video and spreadsheet with times that dont match up. My girlfriend had problems with her pregnancy the first 6 months and had a doctors note to take it easy. Karma will come back to get Steven Smith and northern California regional HR for treating pregnant women horrible. If you like to see pictures of how WFM Folsom handles food message me. WFM has everything in a bag and frozen. You are paying high prices for food that is not fresh.

An easy stop from the Airport in Reno to grab a great selection of produce and groceries en route to your final destination. Much like any Whole Foods Market in the US, expect an extensive selection of foods at the hot bar and salad bar; however, this was the first store Ive encountered with a customer-operated fresh orange juicer in the midst of it all! Lower shelving helps shoppers to see and target specific departments around the store, without having to walk through every aisle and read the signs labeling them.

We called from Battle Mountain, NV to see if they have cooked gluten free pizza to pick up on our way home. They assured me they did and that they cooked it there since Reno is still 3-4 hours from home. We drove out of our way to get it and our kids were so excited to be getting pizza. Once we arrived we were told they do not cook gluten free pizzas there at all. The kids were crushed. Dont go there looking for cooked gluten free pizza!
