Ill shop any where before Ill go to Jo-Anns! I do some sewing for people I know and at times Im forced to get some supplies from the store, but its always a last resort! I shop a lot on the net to get my basic supplies. Everytime I go in there I come out so angry that I swear Ill never go back, but eventually Im forced back in. Every girl in there must take a test to see how slowly they can accomplish a task and only the slowest ones get the job! They love to talk too, but just to each other while you wait for material to be cut. I had to go in a couple of days ago and 2 women at the cutting table talked while I stood by the table and held the material I wanted. They looked at me with the material I had in my arms as if I wasnt there. When they got through with their conversation they asked me if I wanted that material cut! Da-a Im in a material store, holding fabric by the cutting table--did they think I wanted to order a pizza?! I then went over to pay for it. One cashier and 2 or 3 people in line. The cashier was trying to explain something to the lady at the head of the line while another cashier was at another till doing some kind of paperwork. I finally went over an asked her if there was another cashier around. She said she could handle it for me. Why did I have to ask? Why couldnt she see what was going on and offer to help? Isnt that what people interested in doing their job do? This experience isnt an odd thing. In fact that experience was mild to some of the others Ive had in that store. I used to buy most all my stuff at WalMart but since they shut their fabric section down Im forced in to Jo-Anns more. I wish more fabric stores would settle in this town and run that store out of business!!!!!

Honestly, I dont know why I keep going back to this store. I never have a good experience when I have to interact with the staff. 9 out of 10 have no idea what Im talking about (like where the zippers are, or what ribbing is) and usually they are not helpful (though some can be). Case in point, on my latest visit I asked an employee if she could help me locate maroon chiffon. We looked for a hot second then she informed me that what they had in the store were my only options. She did not offer to look anything up or offer any sort of alternative. When I asked if she could direct me to any type of maroon fabric so that I could compare color and look for something close she told me there was none and I was out of luck. Its difficult to imagine a store the size of Joann Fabric has no single piece of maroon Fabric in the entire building. Maybe she just wanted to take a break from the cutting counter. In the future, if I have fabric questions, I will not shop here because few if any people can answer them.

Jo-Ann Fabrics customer service is very bad. I seldom go in; and when I do I have to brace myself for a lot of frustration. Their products are low quality, and you have to wait in line for cutting; then wait in line again for check-out. I waited in line to make a return, and when I got to the cashier, she said I had to take my returns to the cutting area to be measured; because she was not equipped for cutting. So I waited a long time for my returns to be measured - 2 items, each less than 1 yard long! I went back to the check-out waiting line and saw the woman who said she could not measure my goods measuring and cutting some lace for a man! I asked her why she couldnt do that for me. She said she couldnt cut long lengths, and I said my stuff was less than 1 yard long! She knew that; she is just not into customer service. Next time I will go to Selvedge Studio (lovely store) or Bernina Center (also excellent) where I will be treated with courtesy and respect.

This store has the worst customer service. Every time I go there it gets worse. The attitude of the employees is less than desirable. I asked if fabric could be ordered and was told to look for it myself online. I tried to return something I bought ($14 thread holder) and exchange it for something else and was told I would be given $1 store credit since I didnt have the receipt - even though it was still in the JoAnns bag. Ive asked if they have something and have been told no, only to turn the corner and find it myself. Ive spent a number of years in customer service and never would have treated any customer the way the staff at this store treats people. They are just plain lazy and rude.

My go-to store for cosplay supplies, I love their selection of normal and cosplay fabrics! I can always get inspired and find something useful. They also have a great selection of seasonal decor, plus wonderful sales and coupons. The one bad thing is, its hard to find an employee when you need help, and they are typically grumpy.

I went into Joanns looking for a part for my Singer and could barely stand the 5 minutes I was in there! The smell of fake cinnamon was so overpowering, it was absolutely sickening. Plus, Joanns is okay if you want something cheap (in price and quality), but if you want anything that isnt polyester, go elsewhere!!

One of the few stores I have walked out of before completing a purchase. Too few clerks and too long of lines. When you finally get up to pay they may charge you a different price than was on the sign. Simply not worth the trouble. Judy Helm Wright, former seamstress

I live nearby and come in semi regularly. Employees are always nice and helpful to me. Wait times can be long, especially when theres only one cloth cutter or cashier, but five minutes for checkout isnt that bad. Maybe I just havent seen then at their worst?

I absolutely LOVE this store! Im an independent shopper and never really asked for help here, but they have so many options in craft items and great sales, it would be impossible not to love! Its one of my most favorite stores in town. :)

I dont know much about fabrics, but I found a woman who was very helpful. She answered all my questions, and was very nice. There was a bit of a wait at the cutting counter, but overall it was a good experience.
