Ok - now you know. Im a thrifter. I admit - my house is decorated in "early garage sale". My closet is overflowing with great finds from the DAV, and my husband is threatening to build a new closet to accommodate all my shoes - most of them I purchased for under $5 at......the DAV. It took years for DAV customers to convince them to size and sort their items, and almost as long for this location to get a dressing room. However, I find the best designer clothes here! Definitely worth standing in line for that long-awaited dressing room. Some of my favorite clothes came from here.It is smaller than their other locations, but they pack a lot of cool stuff in a small place. Their two other locations are good too; I prefer N. Glenstone over the Kansas Expressway location, due to cleanliness and organization. BUT, I shop them all, when I have a chance. The other thing I love about DAV is that they have regular sales. Lots of 25-50% off, at least once a month, and Sundays are a blast - but get there early to get the best deals.

I used to work there sometime ago. Its a sweatshop in the back room , theres no airconditioning or anything i left before it got too hot .. i dont know how the people can stand it and ive heard osha has already been called once but to no affect. This place is a ripoff the managers make us price the good stuff extremely high and if we dont they will yell and curse at us.They do hire mostly high school dropouts and felons because its hard for them to get anybody else im not a felon by the way although there are some college students. The sorters in the back are made to keep everything no matter how junky it is . The managers and drivers get bonuses all the time and are paid around 13 dollars a hour so its questionable how much really goes to the veterans . the employees cant request days off or call in sick without a drs note and if they are caught buying something there they are terminated. This place is a hell hole boycott it so it can go out of business!

i was a every sunday morning shopper at the DAV and when ever i needed anything we always went there first. i hate to say it but i depended on the DAV for helping me get the kids ready for school but now the prices are to high and i have been waiting for them to go back to the way they were but none the less i give up ..you are greedy DAV ..you had the best prices in town with the best sunday sales now its not worth getting up for. i hope you read this and please do not take away the 98 cent sale many familys count on it. as of right now i will start giving my used clothing to friends or to places that are here to help others not a greedy company.

I worked here for a few days and sorry folks but the donations you give get stolen. If anything of value goes through the workers hands they either steal it or sell it out of the back door and pocket the money. I let management know about this and I was ignored. There is one employee that walks out on the floor about every 30 mins to to look at women. A lot of your donations are also just being thrown away!!!! The staff is very unpleasant and the are not professional in anyway. Please people donate to a different company that actually helps people. The DAV are crooks!!!!!

There is an African American worker at the DAV that followed me around the store and made me feel very uncomfortable. I asked to try a pair of pants on and was treated like a criminal. I could hear people in the back room making crude sexual comments and when I tried to talk to their manager, she was too busy to hear anything I was saying. They are very expensive on used items. They had a shop vac that was missing 1/2 the parts and it was priced $39.96. You can buy it new at Walmart for that price. I dont think I will ever visit this store again, very very bad!!!!!

I am a large volume book buyer. The going price with almost all thrift stores is $1 for hard covers and 1/2 dollar for paperback books. This store was asking about $4.50 and about $2.50 as I remember. Yes, they give a 10% discount for vets but no matter how you slice it, they are WAY overpriced on their books. I will not be back, even for their 1/2 price sales. (All other thrift stores also do half priced sales at 50 cents for hard covers and 25 cents for paperbacks.) You really dont need to gouge your customers. You will lose them, just as you have lost me!!!

Ridiculously high prices!!!!!!!!!!! $4 for an old, pilled, stained t-shirt? $10 for a used blanket? $20 for a used jacket at the same time that a discount clothing store up the street had some good, new jackets for that price? I dont THINK SO!! Their thrift store competitors sell the same items for about 1/4 DAVs prices.Something is very rotten in Springfield and this outfit probably needs to be investigated. It would be interesting to find out exactly what percentage of the sales costs actually make it to any disabled veterans.

This store is a little smaller than the others in Springfield but its still great! You know they give 100% of their profit to the Disabled American Veterans Group? They are a 501c government recognized non-profit. Just like a church! So I give when I have things of value and then of COURSE I love shopping there too! Great stores, organized and prices are marked clearly. Love love love

I shop here often but rarely walk out with anything...their prices have gotten so high lately for no reason! While you can buy nice stuff at DAV, its probably not any cheaper than digging through the sale rack at Wal-Mart.

They had a nice selection of stuff, although I found it a little pricey for used clothing. Plus they dont let you try anything on and with me being an odd size this was a problem for me.

Its a great store. I do think that some of these donation places are a little vain in charging so much for certain items.
