I only go here if I have to, and only because its a convenient location for me. The shopping experience here leaves a lot to be desired. 1) I like to checkout my own groceries for a number of reasons. Unfortunately, they only have two lanes with a total of four registers for this which never seems like enough, given the high number of people - mainly college students - who use them. The lines for this generally block other shoppers trying to get through, especially during peak hours. The do-it-yourself section needs to be expanded, and they need at least two registers that can handle larger orders like Dierbergs. 2) Selection and variety. "Here one day, gone the next." Theyll stock something you like just long enough for you to expect it every time, and then all of a sudden its discontinued. Everything from frozen chicken to breakfast items to ice cream novelties and so on. This is quite frustrating. Their bakery selection consists mainly of preservative-infused items that are rather unhealthy and there are seldom any more natural, wholesome offerings. And every time Ive actually craved something like pecan pie, its nowhere to be found. Why not have consistency with the stock? 3) On-sale stock. They *occasionally* have the "good stuff" on sale (IE, not sardine cans or dried prunes), but they never seem to have enough stock on hand. Those yellow "sale" signs almost always mean "out-of-stock," especially lunch meat. I also dislike how the shelves are organized and marked. Sometimes, theyll have the wrong stock above the sale tag, or, the item was marked on sale but the sale expired and they forgot to remove the tag and you only discover this when you go to check out and get ripped off. 4) Employee attitudes. A smile goes a long way. When Im at Dierbergs or Shop n Save, everyone is generally friendly, they say hello, may strike up a brief pleasant conversation, and they look happy to work there and have a job. When Im at almost any Schnucks, including this one, the general vibe I get is that the employees are not happy working there, and Im met with this attitude as though they are going out of their way to be helpful. A few employees have been downright rude here. The "Friendliest Stores in Town" ironically are not, in my opinion. 5) Store layout. I never cared for it, and sometimes I have to go find someone to locate an item because its not in its logical place. For some reason, hand soap is in the pharmacy section on the west side of the store, while dish soaps and such are in an aisle on the east side of the store. Chili is in one aisle, beans in another. And so on.

Its takes a lot for me to praise excellent customer service, but this is a must and should not go unrecognized. It was on a Thursday late evening, but very busy. I dont know if that is how it always is that time of night, but regardless people were waiting at self-checkout and one after the other, a customer just could not seem to understand how to work the machines.Brenda was in center of the self- check out area and she just kept her cool and kept working and resolving issues with a smile the entire time. I usually dont walk right up to the person running the self check-out, but I needed a pack of cigarettes and that was all. Brenda was so sweet and I thought I was being intrusive, but he was so sweet and that big smile, she really had me leave like I was treated special and thats a rarity in employees these days.. I hope I get to see her and have some laughs again. Thank you, out if 12 yrs living in Clayton and going to Schnucks at least 3 times a week, tonight, Brenda, was the first throughout this entire time who ever went out of her way to help and had a big smile the entire time!!

According to the stores staff, this is the busiest location in the entire Schnucks chain. It serves hordes of Washington University students in addition to the permanent local population. While it has a respectably wide selection, it persistently runs out of vegetarian items. Annoyingly, the store also cant keep itself from tinkering with the shelving, leaving shoppers wondering where the Kleenex is this week. ExpressScripts brawl with Walgreens revealed the limitations of Schnucks pharmacies, which were brutally slammed with new customers and never added the staff or in-pharmacy stock they needed. When the contest ended, most customers returned to the local Walgreens. At this writing, Schnucks loses a star for its nasty labor relations, having closed its main warehouse to break its union and ridiculously banning Girl Scout cookie sellers from the premises in a sweeping policy aimed at hindering picket lines.

I dont like that i have to drag my child through the WINE section just to get to the grocery store. I come here often for my WIC items, and generally they have everything I need. They just recently stopped the sale of their cans of goatmilk, which made me sad. The WIC items are pretty clearly displayed, but also a bit limited on "specialty" items. Everyone can get milk and cheese and bread. But we get tofu instead of yogart for our daughter. The tofu is very rarely stocked. And there isnt a choice between firm of silky, because they only carry the one brand, so its silky or nothing.

Clean store. Prices are very reasonable. Attracts good customers. Usually good service. Produce is good. Nice selection, including some unusual foods, wines, liquor, and beer. Attracts a lot of university/seminary students. Ive lived across the street for four years and havent ever had a very negative experience here. /// Dont be fooled by grocery stores that have the word "price" or "save" in their titles. The other thing thats nice is that Schnucks doesnt make you sign up for a savings card to get their savings. They also frequently have samples and fun stuff like that.

My go to grocery store. They always have what I need stocked, fresh, and somehow its always on sale. Employees are nice enough and dont really bother you unless you need them. I was there to the other day and saw a robot(who was being tested by a guy with a laptop) which checks the stock of shelfs, so clearly these guys are serious about bringing their store into the modern age! The only downside is there is no signal in this store which has caused me some trouble when looking up ingredients or calling back home to check how much I have of something.

Worst customer service. Schnucks must be fostering an unhappy environment. I have never seen any of their employees smiling. Just now, the woman checking me out was not happy and tossed one of my items after ringing it in. Barely acknowledged that I was there. This is not an isolated incident. I believe this place is in business because of circumstance. There just arent enough choices close enough to make an impact. I bet if there were, this place would be out of business. Must be an awful place to work!!!

I loved this Schnucks... This was my first time going here. I just recently moved back to the STL area. I decided to go to a Schnucks that was just a little ways from where I live and Im glad I did. The atmospher was great and the store was clean and inviting. There was so much variety and food options. There was a food bar where you can get already prepared food and the options where great.... I will continue to visit this store.
