Gosh, i wish it didnt have so many stars! That means my experience was so far from the norm. We were looking for a new spot to try a coffee and had my mind on a pastry...So we went to UP Coffee... Asked about one of the blended drinks, response : its like a milkshake Asked about how the scone was. Told it was a scone Asked how the other pastries were: told fine. Asked for a Bee Coffee, starts bagging up a scone. When i tell him i dont want the scone he is upset/angry and says "cmon you already said you wanted one" Trying to keep my cool I told him i didnt want that, and I didnt say that. Honestly the only reason I didnt buy one of their pastries was the depth of rudeness he displayed. I admitted i was tired to try to make the whole interaction seem a bit more comfortable and he condensed me with a snarky remarks. We sat, I was honestly scared that he may have done something unprofessional to my coffee so i didnt touch the item. Thats how bad the simple interaction went. I finally gave in and had some. Seemed decent enough, yet the stress from that almost intolerable service experience still leaves my stomach upset. When i left, the barista informed us we shouldnt bring our dishes to the counter for them, but go place it in the plastic dish bucket hidden under a counter. Unreal. Ive worked in the service industry my whole life. It saddens me these two gentlemen working the counter consider themselves part of service industry. I left with such a bad taste in my mouth I was forced to write my first public review. let us encourage them to be better at the what they do. Let us encourage people to take pride in their work. Let us encourage people to know what their job is - the service industry is about addressing needs, acting kind and patient, knowing how to fix a interaction that started unpleasant. Baristas: non attentive, rude, reproachful, not agreeable, condescending, not patient

Got a latte, it was alright but nothing special. The tabletops have this gross sticky feeling finish on it that I found unpleasant. Most customers left at one point and workers starting mopping all around my table, felt like they were closing but they were still open for another hour and a half. Dont know why they couldnt wait until people had left. Mop water also smelled something gross and I didnt want to get up and slip. Dont plan on going back, didnt see what the other reviews did. Cheaper priced coffee thats decent quality, but the experience wasnt something that makes me want to return. There are better coffee shops around.

A lively and inviting coffee shop with a somewhat unusual location. The staff are all professional and welcoming, and the coffee is some of the best in the cities. The most surprising and unique quality of this place is the deceptively good coffee-themed mocktails that manage to be both creative and refreshing, some of them almost taste alcoholic. Paninis, salads, and baked goods are offered here, and while they dont stand out as anything exceptional, they manage to satisfy. Overall, a lovely and original coffee shop that is dog-friendly and has dependable WiFi.

Its ok. Ordered 2 ice lattes w/almond milk for my partner and I. Tasted burnt and was not of high quality. Same price as premium coffee at other places in the twin cities but definitely not the same quality. Service was mediocre at best. The employees were rude. He mopped all over the place without saying excuse me and then engaged in a lengthy discussion with a customer who was standing at the service counter (with her fulfilled order in hand) while also ignoring us. We had to fix our lattes at home in order to be palatable. Would not visit again.

Awesome little spot tucked behind some train tracks between NE and Como. Prices are very reasonable compared to some other northeast roasters... The service is great, as the staff never makes you feel rushed. I have had conversations with multiple baristas; the people are just nice. Its a small operation with high quality coffee and a cafe attached to the roasting facility. They have lunch and gluten free options in their baked goods section. Go. Buy good coffee. Feel good about giving them your money.

Super cute cafe with all the coffee and menu options you could possibly want in a neighborhood stop. Everything from Exotic roasts to rich drips and plenty of specialty drinks made to order. In addition, lunch and breakfast food options include seasonal ingredients and delicious attention to homemade details. If youre looking for a quick coffee spot or a great place to sit and chat with friends over your favorite caffeinated treat this is a hidden gem in NE.

Up Cafe is a little treasure cove tucked away off of Hennepin. Amongst their shelves of coffee wizardry and cozy warehouse filled with award winning beans, youll find Baristas who are clearly passionate about their craft and roasters who are serious about their beans. Up Cafe makes waking up a little more less dreadful as a pull from their espresso laps your palate and pats you on your back. Best coffee in Minneapolis, hands down.

The chai is mostly pathetic, but it gets the job done. The staff are fun. One of the days I was there, a customer was pointing at a cup, and one staff member told her if she touched the cups, theyd have to throw them away because of health code. The funny part was that the staff member had a really big beard that was fully exposed and not contained in a hair net. Their food looks good, too.

Cute, simple cafe with several drink options. Space for small groups of people, and an area for larger groups. Up has a clear mission supporting fair trade beans :) Staff was friendly. I ordered a latte and it tasted like it was made with flavored coffee, which Im not a fan of. Foam was the perfect texture. Ill try this place again, hopeful for an improved drink experience.

UP not only has FANTASTIC coffee and food, their customer service is second to none. I would go out of my way to hit this cafe because of the environment and amazing people. Definitely worth locating them in NE Minneapolis. Tell them the Double Dark Chocolate Mocha girl sent you!

Great food and coffee all at a great price. Head and shoulders above any other equally priced whole bean coffee in the twin cities. Laid back atmosphere and friendly staff make this a favorite stop for picking up a bag of coffee or staying in to enjoy the drinks.

If you search for best cafe in Minneapolis on Google this shows up as #1 on yelp. I think the espresso is better at 5 watt but I like the chill atmosphere here. WiFi was quite slow as of 11 6 16. Id only come to read a book but still great Sunday afternoon place.

I love, love, love this place! They have all things delicious! My favorites are the sandwich with Chipotle Mayo, Turkey Bacon thats like a BLT, and their amazing chocolate chip cookies, but I pretty much like everything! Plus their service is delightful.

Up is brilliant! I just so happened to find it and it was one of the best stumble upons Ive made. Great & fresh coffee. Homemade pastries. Awesome atmosphere and great employees. Every time my friends are in the area - they have to stop by this place.

I love UP. I go there on a regular basis. They make the best cappuccino this side of the ocean. I also enjoy their muffins, sandwiches, and salads. Love eating on the patio in the summer....no street traffic to yell over. Fun and friendly staff!
