The first indoor mall in America! Wow! You can definitely tell it is old based on the layout of the entire building....nothing really flows well and there are small juts that "hide" stores and eateries. Southdale has all of the typical mall stores (Victorias Secret, cell phones, Apple, Macys, Bath & Bodyworks, fast food, etc.). It is very clean and orderly. There is a nice AMC movie theatre attached. There are also some "sit down" restaurants here too: Buffalo Wild Wings, Cheesecake Factory, PF Changs, Dave & Busters, etc. Nothing you cant find elsewhere.

Went here today to go shopping at Macys when one of the staffs started getting an attitude. One of them named Sara, non-professional at doing her job acting like a 16 year old teenager when shes 60 years old. Talk about acting her age. She cant even do a simple task like hold clothing for a customer that wants to check out. I came back and she already had thrown away the clothes I wanted to check out. Instead of politely grabbing the clothes she threw away, she acted deaf. Cant blame her for being a stuck up 60 year old chick whos still probably a virgin.

Really has improved over the last ~5 years. Used to be absolutely depressing, now its only a little depressing. Food court is still awful. There are still too many empty shop spaces. The decor, though, has been much-improved, and there is lots of natural light. You definitely feel better walking around a bright and cheery wasteland, as opposed to the early-mid nineties wasteland that it was prior to the revamp. The mall is clean, and the movie theater is nice. I prefer this place to the Mall of America by far.

Big place but number of stores is less. Lot of apparel, accessories, small stores. Good restaurants but food court is too small and uninteresting. Tons of space to park and with AMC theaters a complete place you could spend your time at. Could spice up the place with a better food court (Sushi, Mexican, Italian), some more gift stores. Also needs some color as feels dull and empty sometimes. Could include and conduct events to attract people as there is lot of space.

The nations first enclosed mall. It has none of the personality that it opened with. Bland whiteness everywhere. Fish pond gone. Birds gone. Dining in the courtyard gone. However, they have brought a lot of good dining places (PF Changs is my only favorite here, the rest are mediocre and The Cheese Cake Factory is down right horrible). Plenty of shops for you to go to. No need to go to the largest mall in America

Regarding the Ruby Tuesday restaurant...I was there with 3 other people at lunchtime today. The restaurant wasnt busy. The food was good. However, the server and her management were the worst weve seen in a while. They seemed to be more interested in chatting with each other near the kitchen than paying attention to our table. I had to rate this with the star to post this. Actually its below the one star.

Another great (and the original in the nation!) Twin Cities mall. The mall was recently renovated from top to bottom, and some retail spaces are still turning over, but its clearly on the upswing. Good food options. The AMC theater is a good spot too. The Apple Store here is probably the best in the Twin Cities because it’s not as busy, and the staff are used to having a lot of tech employee clients.

Quiet. Few options. No reason to visit this first before evaluating options online. Not surprised why malls are dying across the country. There is very little incentive to shop here unless youve found yourself returning an unwanted item you first bought online anyways. This is not necessarily Southdales fault, but just a general trend with brick-and-mortar shopping.

I really liked this mall. It was easy to access and has ample parking. There are a good variety of shops, but we went there for the Dave and Busters arcade. We also found a really nice place to eat called Deleo Bros Pizza, which was so awesome we went back the next day. They have lots of retro decorations and about 10-12 retro arcade machines. Check their reviews.

Not a bad mall, but there always seems to be some part weirdly vacant. The theaters are great, the restaurants good, but heaven help you if you want to get in to one right away during dinner time. If they take reservations, make them. Cheesecake Factory especially (but I think the better food can be found next door at the Galleria Mall restaurants).

Energy Stop
My favorite mall: 1st it looks beautiful inside and outside. 2nd what ever you want to do by yourself or with family you can do it there. 3rd all kind of brands you can find there. 4th if you want to just to walk and after that just go drink coffee and set and you can do there. Finally my favorite place just next door cheese cake factory.

Visited this mall again after a couple of years. They have a large Carrefour inside which is convenient. Its not a high end mall compared to other malls in the area like Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Mall, etc but its enough to keep you busy. Lots of international brands there. M&S, Debenhams, H&M, etc. Lots of eateries too such.

This mall has great stores in it and is easy to get around. Unfortunately, being so close to The Mall of America, its tough to compete. I would rather come to Southdale for a movie than MOA because its much easier to get in and out of. Also, there are tons of restaurants in the area and a few decent options in the mall too.

The second best mall next to Mall of America in Richfield / Bloomington area. Theaters at AMC has been renovated as well making this a stop for avid movie goers. There are also lots of restaurants to choose from in this mall like PF Changs, Cheesecake Factory, Buffalo Wild Wings and many more.

Update has been nice. Good selection of stores to shop at, but they are all pretty much the sales ones you find at the other malls. Really like the restaurant selection. Its always busy here during happy hours dinner and lunch. Sometimes have to park several rows away from the mall.

This is the 1st mall ever built so we must keep it in business! It has everything you need without the huge "Mall of America" feel. Theres a movie theater, restaurants & even a Dave & Busters now. I even worked at customer service when I was in high school, its a great place to shop!

First mall in the country and still the best in the great state of Minnesota. From The Cheesecake Factory to the Lucky store, this mall that seems quaint is full of great options. Small crowds and friendly service everywhere you turn. Some of the best food options in the metro.

The layout can be confusing the first few times you visit this mall. The parking is usually quite tight. The shops are higher end with solid selection. There are plenty of dining and entertainment options to fill the gaps between shopping. This is a very clean mall.
