After having a bad experience here eight years ago my wife and I decided to give it another try. While we were looking at vehicles we gave them the keys to our trade in so they could inspect it. We found a vehicle we liked, they ran our credit (I already had preapproval but they said they could get a better rate) and then they came back with the numbers. Their initial number for our trade was a joke. Very low. Our vehicle was in great condition, under 100k miles and a LTD edition. I told them no way. They said they would "call around and see if they could get a better number. I told them a price for the vehicle and a price for my trade in that was good for me and I would sign on the spot (expecting to negotiate). What I got was beyond insulting. They came up slightly on the trade in but refused to budge on the vehicle price. The Sales Manager was extremely rude and tried to use some faux math to show he was meeting me more than halfway on the price I asked but in reality he wasnt close. Im an Engineer, I know math! He then tried to explain how they cannot come down on the sticker price which was insulting. I know margins and how things work. This guy treated me like I was a moron. I feel sorry for the sales person who helped us as we wasted two hours of his time on a Saturday. FYI I never saw anyone ever inspect our vehicle. Not to say they didnt but I kept a close eye on it (except during the test drive) and I didnt see it move or anyone approach it. We went over to Rivertown Honda, received far more in trade than the insulting number Toyota gave us, found a vehicle and had a smooth transaction. I highly recommend Fox or Rivertown Honda as I’ve had great experiences at both. If you want to pay sticker price, receive far lower than your trade in than you should and be insulted then by all means head to Toyota of Grand Rapids. If you want a deal and to be treated with respect go elsewhere as you will not receive it here. It happened to me twice now.

I am keeping my promise and telling everyone I know not to come to this dealership! I have had two experiences with them, and the last one put me over the edge. I have never been treated with such disrespect and ignorance as I was by one of the salesman and his MANAGER. My husband test drove a vehicle it talked price with the same salesman over the weekend. They came to a verbal agreement PENDING AN INSPECTION. I took the car to be inspected Monday morning and was told by a mechanic that I trust there would be about $400-$500 worth of repairs, but that it was a good car. I went into Toyota and told them I would like to buy the vehicle but that I needed to talk price and explained the situation. Again, the salesperson was defensive and asked "Why would you think it needs these repairs?" I didnt even know how to respond to his ridiculous question. He made me feel like I was completely incompetent to make a decision based on information that I discovered. I asked for a lower price and he said he would speak with the manager. He came back about 10 minutes later with the manager and the manager. Immediately, the manager said, "I dont think you understand....Im not sure what you expect from this sale." RIGHT AWAY he put me down and was extremely condescending to a WOMAN. As I explained the situation to him, he finally said to me, "Im done having this discussion with you. If you want to go ahead and walk out of here, I will not be calling you. We dont need your business." I was SHOCKED by the way this manager treated a customer. It didnt surprise me at all the the salesperson was also condescending to a woman, given his leadership! If you are a woman, they will try to take advantage of you! All they see is prey to try to make money. Unfortunately, it seems that I should never have gone in there without my husband. I have always thought of myself as a strong woman but they made me feel totally demeaned. I will never, NEVER, be back to give them my business!

If youre in the market for a pre-owned vehicle...DO NOT GO HERE! This Toyota dealer sold me a BROKEN Toyota Sienna and never disclosed the broken part to me (the door). I didnt know that it was broken until the day after I bought it when it swung open and almost smashed into a vehicle next to me. Apparently this was a known defect of the 2004 Sienna, but they decided to sell it without fixing it (door has to be replaced- $2000) and not tell me. SO WRONG! Also, they offer a "buy with confidence guarantee" that says you can bring the car back within three days for a refund if youre not satisfied. Its a load of bull! When I spoke with the salesman the next day he made it absolutely impossible for me to get the car back before the 3 days was up. Then he told me that his general manager was going to call me back and talk to me about the problem after he was finished with a client. Never received that call, so I wrote the GM an email (a very dissatisfied customer email) and NEVER heard back from him. Obviously he wanted me to post my unfavorable reviews all over the Internet because thats what I am going to do. Why else would you not want to buy a used car here? The salesman we had, although a nice person, was not knowledgeable about the vehicle he was showing us and it was a Toyota at a Toyota dealership. Also, the gas tank was on absolute empty and they told us when we purchased it that they do not fill up the gas tank on a used car. Only new cars. Wow...thats a dealership that really cares about great customer service. The only person that I do not regret having contact with at this dealership is Jay Rodenberry, the finance manager. He was very helpful and we appreciate his business. Too bad I cant say the same for the rest at Toyota of Grand Rapids. I regret my purchase and that is an awful feeling when you spent thousands of dollars....

The place is great but one particular sales person names Frank Turner is not a man of his word. We got suckered into a car at a small dealership and they sold us a car that we dont really love and they sold to us a very high price. We came her hoping we can trade it in and get something we loved, we didnt care if we had to get more in debt as long as we were happy with our purchase. They were about an hour from closing so they did an estimate of the trade in and Frank promised us that he would help us out. I got a call from the next day, didnt really have much to offer but he said he would call other places and run the numbers to see what he can help us with, We knew since the beggining that it was going to be a long shot but he was so confident and gave us a little bit of hope that we confided in him. Days passed and i never got a call so i tried to call him to no avail, i emailed him twice and nothing. Very unprofessional and not a man of his word. I normally dont leave bad reviews but i feel really dissapointed and insignificant. I was a customer nonetheless but since i didnt have money at the moment, they treated me like a non client and pushed me away. I would have appreciated a small courtesy call or a tiny email stating that either it wasnt possible or any updates that he had. If they got sales people like that running that place it has got to be very bad for business. I will not be recommending this place to any of my friends!! What a shame!!!!
