To celebrate my first visit to Detroit, I woke up @ 6:30 am & went on a Donut Showdown - the Apple Fritters cinnamon sugar & toasted coconut raised donuts were delicious and only just barely edged out the Dutch Girls sour cream (I found the glaze too sweet) and "custard" (ie a Boston Cream). Its basically a tie between them - both places have a lovely fresh, homemadeish quality that Dunkin & Tim Hortons will never achieve. One star deducted for Apple Fritters not being ready 2 hours post-opening! Somebody had a case of the Mondays, I guess. Those who shiver and shake at the first sign of "bad neighborhood" will enjoy the Apple Fritters lily white strip mall vibe.

BEST DONUTS IN METRO DETROIT AREA!!! Im on Woodward, thinking of heading to Dutch girl, but I remember being disappointed EVERY time within the last 2 years... Giving up on them, and being too far from Knudsens on 6 and Southfield... I search google... Hoping they have more than apple fritters... Because I dont like those, I walk in... Uncertain about what Im about to eat... I made safe choices, but what Ive realized is that the freshness and texture of these donuts are second to none!! Trust me!! If they were hot I may have eaten a dozen!! TRY THEM OUT!!

Good selection of unique fritters. I am not sure anywhere else even conceived of a maple bacon apple fritter. But, on the other hand, more than a few were out of stock and we got there fairly early (~7AM) so I am not sure how early one must be to secure a blueberry fritter. The fritters themselves were okay. The aforementioned maple bacon apple and regular apple, while fresh, were definitely not the top of their class and a bit expensive considering. But the service was good.

i just left that place doughnuts very good, staff not good, was just chased out of there for buying 3 dozen of doughnuts, was treated with racial discrimination and was told to go some where else by the male baker, including the woman with the pony tail. They felt very comfortable behaving like this in front of the other older customers sitting at the tables. I will be contacting the Owner.

Was my 3rd time going today. The doughnuts are good and fresh. The lady at the counter is very unpleasant. I noticed the first time I went she took her time b4 she acknowledged me, the 2nd time she was cool. After today I will not be going back. She need to work on her listening and attitude. I hate that I recommended this place to others.

Have to agree. Transplanted from Cleveland and this is the one place I can say has no match in either city. Thanks to our friend Bill the electrician for bringing this shop near "Mustang Alley" (Woodward Dream Cruise) to our attention. Best place to start a special day--even if you have to suspend the diet.:)

Awesome donuts and a huge selection! I went here before work to get donuts for my co-workers at the hospital I work at. They devoured them! From the outside you wouldnt expect this place to be anything special, but they are definitely the best donuts Ive ever had!
