Compact, Open-air Plaza I visited the Tanger Outlet Grand Rapids on three occasions, to date. The first was a week after they opened, last July. The second was three weeks before Christmas 2016. The third was just last weekend. Here are my observations and opinions of this open–air, plaza style shopping center with a mix of outlet and non-outlet stores, name brand. While Tanger Outlet Grand Rapids is smaller than a few plaza-style, outlet shopping centers, some consider its size a benefit. PRO · New and clean · Good, safe location · Varied selection of merchants with room for expansion (approximately 80+) · Nice Shopper Services center · Coupons and other offers available to TangerClub Members CON · Many stores do not have much outlet pricing/discounting · Awkward entrance and traffic flow through parking areas with insufficient signage · Insufficient signage/directories within the shopping area · Not enough food vendors/restaurants · Suggest café-style with Asian and/or Mexican and/or eclectic cuisine · Not enough drink vending machines; a stand-alone coffee vendor would be nice · Some vacant store fronts, while providing room for expansion, in the meantime could use window displays, banners, decorations, informative or promotional signage · Disturbingly insufficient ADA entrances/exits for physically challenged patrons, such as automatic opening entrance/exit doors · Lacking a few typical merchants such as o Eddie Bauer Outlet o Coach New York Outlet o The North Face Outlet o Crocs Outlet o Van Heusen / Izod Golf Outlet o Movado Company Store o Naturalizer Outlet and others. While Tanger Outlet Grand Rapids has deficiencies, it also has promise for the future with just a few improvements!

I think everyone within a 100 mile radius was excited to learn we would be getting an outlet mall in the area. I went with friends not long after the first opened and have been back a few times since. There is a massive parking area, so no matter how busy they are, there always seems to be room to park. You may have to walk a good way, but youre going to be doing that when you walk around the stores anyway. There are quite a few stores to choose from selling a vast variety of products ranging from shoes, clothing, leather goods, household items, and jewelry, and many more. Like most outlet stores these days, the regular prices on many items really isnt that great. In some cases, I cant really tell any difference in the prices here or at the regular stores. I have found some amazing bargains though. I got dyed leather jackets for my daughters for an amazing $40 each. I got a really nice extreme cold weather coat (but very stylish looking too) for one daughter, on one of the "quick sales" for $45. I love those unadvertised sales where the stores put special pricing on certain items for a few hours only. If you happen to be around during that time and its something you need, you can get some good deals. The shop owners for the most part have always been pretty nice too, which is unfortunately pretty rare. I cant say Ive had a bad experience at any of the stores. I havent been pleased with prices in some, but thats OK too. I just move on to the places that have the prices Im looking for. Easy to get to location as well. If youre looking for some pretty good deals and have the time to walk the stores and find them, then you can most certainly discover some good ones here.

I had great expectation from this place and today was my 2nd visit here. Last time I went to Tommy Hilfiger outlet there and bought few items including a tshirt. After I wore it for cpuple of days and washed it just once (that wasnt a machine wash, it was washed alone in a tub separately in order to keep the bright color), the color of the black stripes came on to the white and yellow stripes. It was no way my mistake, I have been wearing their tshirts for long. I called them and they promised me to do something about it. I was hopeful and went from portage to tanger (45 mikes). After I reached there, a guy there told me that he cannot find the tag and hence it cannot be returned. Common...seriously?? They he told that the color must have come from another clothe. After I told that the tshirt was washed separately, he told that it was more than 30 days and cannot be returned. I told him that it was 26th day, nit more than a month. He wasnt just ready to do anything about it. At last he denied saying that you cnnot return after washing it. Couldnt you say that before I could travel 90 miles? I always make sure that bright clothes are not washed with dark ones and also I use the best of best ditergents! It wasnt my fault, but it was the bad color and bad service! I travelled that far not to save money, but because it was my favorite tshirt and they promised me to do something about it. The lady over the phone was good and kind. But unfortunately I met this inhuman who wasnt just ready to do anything instead of repeated requests. I will never go to that shop again!

This is the first outlet mall in west Michigan and just opened back in July. Overall I was very impressed with. It is new, designed well, clean, good mix of stores, and has covered areas to escape some of Michigans weather while still being outside. The parking lot seems a little small but that could also be because when we visited it was still new and a holiday weekend. Obviously because it is tucked away with US-131 to one side you cant really give it more than one way in and out. It did take a little while to find a spot but when we did...we were good. The bathrooms seem to be a miss though. I cannot speak for the womens but the mens have 1 urinal and 1 stall. Thats it! So sometimes you have to wait for others to finish. It does appear that they are scatted all over the property but the two that I visited were designed and set up the same. Kind of strange if you ask me. Seems like you would want to make it quicker and easier for people to use the restroom. Overall it is a nice place to shop and offers some deals that you may not find at the other area malls. Easy access on and off US-131 and close to M-6 so that no matter when in the area you are...you can get there pretty quickly. I also think that once the newness wears off it will be just like any other outlet mall...parking lot traffic wise.

Im thrilled to have a Tanger Outlet Mall in Grand Rapids. I went to the Fossil and Kate Spade stores last weekend, and they both were offering some fantastic discounts. The sales staff was great at both stores. I ended up making my purchases at the Kate Spade store. I happened upon a sale so good I bought a purse for myself AND a birthday gift for my daughter-for less than I would have spent had I bought them online. Since I just decided that afternoon to take a drive to Tanger, stumbling across a 60% + 20% off sale made my day! In addition, they (Tanger) were offering a promotion where if you spend $50, you can get a $10 off card - I definitely took advantage of that opportunity. The gal at the customer service office was very pleasant, and that $10 card will come in handy on my next visit. Someone mentioned the lack of food options - I have to agree. While Subway, pretzels, a hot dog stand and ice cream vendor are nice, a casual sit down restaurant would be a welcome addition. It was a very warm day when I went, and being able to take a break and get out of the sun would have been great. While it isnt enough to keep me away, it would certainly add to my shopping experience. Thanks for bringing Tanger Outlet to Grand Rapids!
