This place is awesome....................if you dont mind paying 2-3 times what a vehicle is worth. Ive been buying cars at auction for 20 years and by no means am I a spring chicken to this process. If you would have asked me 2 years ago about IAAI I would have said their prices were pretty decent and on occasion lower than comparable public auto auctions. However, last year and current have taken a strange turn. The prices are almost laughable. For example, there was a 2006 Ford Fusion, hard hit to the front that took out the hood, both front fenders, core support, bumper, headlights, radiator/trans cooler/a/c condensor, air bags deployed, seat belt pre-tensioner deployed. It was a runner/driver (in other words it starts and was able to move 3 ft forward and 3 ft backwards, they are not lot driven and verified to shift through all gears). This was an average $300-400 car at other similar auction houses. The price on this car topped $1300 at live auction at IAAI, not to mention all of the fees on top of that price youre at almost $1800. If you were to use a combination of new and used parts and paint the car yourself youd be easily at $1500 on top of purchase price so roughly $3300 for a car that averages $3500 resale. Im not sure about you but making a $200 profit really doesnt make all of that hassle worth it. That is just one example but has been par for the course on every vehicle I have seen go across the block the last 2 years. Every once in awhile you may come across an I buy thats reasonable but that has become pretty rare and they usually get picked off pretty quickly. My advice would be to get a guest sign on and watch what the pre-bids go up to before the auction to get an idea of what youre getting into. If I can save someone from wasting $200 on the membership fee I hope this review helped. On a positive note, staff have been friendly to work with in the past (that was going on 2 years ago) and I have no complaints on the transaction side of the business.

Bought a vehicle from iaa Detroit online on Sept 24th, loaded up my truck and trailer on Sept 25ft and made the hour drive out. Got there and after paying, waited outside for nearly a half hour for them to bring out the car. An employee finally approaches me and says "sorry but we cant find your vehicle" "was sold to someone else a while ago" Are you serious? How much money does this operation steal from people every day and you cant even keep track of the vehicles youre putting up for sale. This crap would never fly at any dealer auction, on top of the $600+ fees on a $1300 purchase. Either they are that stupid or this place is a complete scam. Buyer beware, I would not deal with this place. Save your money and time and buy elsewhere. P.S. The branch manager Bobby Nicholson (aka turd burgular) was conveniently not at the office during this whole ordeal. Thanks buddy

When I bought a car at the Detroit auction, I was concerned about the location due to Detroits bad reputation. Upon further research, I was relieved to find the auction is actually located in the suburb of Belleville. For those unfamiliar with the area, you can rest assured you will not be robbed or sexually assaulted until you actually walk inside to pay ypur buyer fees. The branch manager (Bobby Nicholson) is completely useless, and when his employees make mistakes, you can bet he will take ZERO accountability. Do your homework, theres many other auctions in the area with a better selection, lower buyer fees, and actual professionals (not clowns) running the show. Stay away.

i used to by cars every week from this auction . Until the forklift operator destroyed a $1500 bumper on our 2016 Mercedes. Bobby Nicholson the branch manager and Diane the office manager both told me there is nothing they can do about it. They said they are not responsible for damage done to vehicles whether they do it or not. they also refused to give me my money back for the vehicle. I tried going to corporate but good luck getting somebody to call you back. This company is a joke. Needless to say wont be buying any more cars from them.

Takes way to long to get in and out, pickup area is a mess, flat tires from clutter in the lot are a regular thing here. I dont mind picking up cars for customers but I wont buy here myself. Very poorly run location. I also dont care to wait around their offices while scumbags steal my tie-downs out of my truck as well as l.e.d. lights. Happened twice here. Not good. Im not a fan of this location at all.

Place absolutely sucks. Staff is rude. They charge crazy fees to get the car out. You cant even start the vehicles on viewing day because the staff wont give you the keys anymore. When you do buy a car you have to wait way to long. And on top of all of this. When they go to pick up your vehicle yo bought they pick your car up on a FORKLIFT and damage it.

If you, the Buyer, are originally from any country in the Middle East and Africa, think twice before you do business at this branch .you can see racism in their eyes as well discrimination in their behavior. I dont know how a giant corporation like IAA let this unqualified and ignorant Bobby Nicholson manage this location??

Worst place to deal with, they change the rules almost every week. And bidders fees are crazy, you buy a $1500 car, when its time to pay you spend around $2300, you also have to wait like 30min for them to take your car out of the yard with a high-low to damage the bottom of the car you over paid for.

Tow truck driver just ran me off the road to cut me off from a lane he KNEW was ending!! Then he had the nerve to wave and smile at me as Im slamming on my brakes and horn. Its just ridiculous and unprofessional to drive that way. Hire more responsible drivers!
