Not the place for a DIY buying low quantity. Attempted to purchase 2 4x8 sheets of A1 3/4" Birch Plywood (at $73 a pop), which I needed ripped. They stock it at the Waltham location but can only rip that size at the Arlington yard. They said that they would send some over for me to pick up and it never happened. And needless to say no one is exactly bending over backwards to help. A lot of "nope" without a "Hey, let me check on that for you and get it straightened out." My guess is that they cater to contractors and tend to run the residential shoppers off. Anyhow, I had high hopes of Sterritt being "The Lumber Yard" that was enjoyable to go to for great wood. Regrettably the search goes on.

I had a fantastic experience at Sterritt Lumber Co. I came in knowing what I needed and they were fast and fairly friendly, in and out in no time! Good quality material and staff help get you what you need without pushing any extra products. As young female woodworker, I often have my judgement questioned at the lumber yards I visit and glad to say this was not the case at Sterritt. Will return.

Classic east coast service with attitude. They cant be bothered to answer about even the most simple thing possible like what the price is on the lumber. Go any where else. Find a family owned lumber yard to to support but not these guys.
