I am from Southbridge MA and have been shopping at Big Y for almost 20 years. When I moved to Norwood, I missed Big Y. When they opened in Walpole last year I was thrilled. What I like best; M E A T ! If you like the best cuts of meat, Big Y is the place. They will cut you 2" thick NY Strips, get you a prime rib any size (last christmas I had two 10 pounders) Their meat is fresh, and the best flavor. They have better packaged beef on the shelf than you can get cut for you at the other shops. VEGIES Sorry, S&S, Shaws, and Roche Bros, Big Y has you all beat! BAKED GOODS Bakery is TOPS. Breads Rolls etc... Fish is always great but not as good as Roche Brothers. Prices are not the lowest, but overall quality is the best. Try it, if you dont want to go back often I would be amazed David - Norwood

Big Y itself is a very nice clean store. They have some foods / products other stores dont and they dont have some popular foods (Chocolate Chex one example) products ( excedrin migraine with only tylenol and caffeine no aspirin brand) other stores do and that is sort of a hassle. often keeps me from stopping there on quick shop. Big Y has a simple problem they just wont fix and that is the front end. Besides no self checkouts, they never have more than one or two registers open , no matter how many people are lining up. The prices are also on the high side. some organic applesauce packet I saw at Big Y for 4.99 Stop and shop had the same ones for 2.49 regular price everyday. I checked several times just to make sure it wasnt a mistake,I found several products MUCH cheaper at Stop and Shop.

Went here last night to pick up a few things, and I grabbed a box of their cooked chicken wings because I didnt feel like cooking. Mistake. That was the nastiest chicken Ive ever eaten. The wings and drumsticks both were like 80 percent fat and skin with very little meat. Im gagging just thinking about it, but my dog seemed to enjoy it. She also likes to eat dirt, though. I mean, Ill still stop here if I need one or two things on the way home and I dont feel like going to stop n shop, but Im never getting "food" from their little "restaurant" again. Yech!

When I think of Big Y I think of a Higher end Stop & Shop. Inside feels nicely laid out, clean, super friendly staff, and has amazing produce and seafood. Only thing they need to work on is getting the good deli that Stop & Shop has, which is mainly to just get Boars Head in their store. Once that happens, I will come here over S&S every time. Also try and a self check out line, people like those more nowadays. Has a Sushi bar too!

Produce is hardly ever fresh, Deli is fast great selection, Meat is OK, always have great sales love the buy 1 get 2 free sales!!! This store is the farthest from home I drive past Shaws and Stop & Shop to get here, its worth the trip! On numerous occasions I have found bad produce (almost weekly) wilted broccoli, rotten tomatoes, moldy bagged fruit, bad onions (how old does an onion have to be to get soft and squishy?)

This is your typical grocery store except that theres a pricing issue every single time we shop there. At least one item will be overcharged and then you need to catch it, tell them about it, and wait and wait while they try to find the problem. I. know all stores have this problem once in awhile but this place is literally every time usually with multiple items.

I like the Big Y for their soups and convince foods. They also make decent pizzas and have a sitting area to enjoy the food you buy. There never is much of a wait here when checking out and there always a tends to be grocery baggers. I wish it was a bit closer to where I lived and I would shop there more often.

Seafood staff took over 20 minutes to respond to my wifes request for shrimp kabobs. We think it was because she was accompanied by her African American woman friend. Both are over 65, the friend has white hair. The grocery store probably needs to question their staff about this.

They always gave me their discount. Today, they wouldnt. Instead of giving it to me for signing up, they just didnt give it to me. Their business model is terrible and they overcharge. Trader Joes is down the street, along with target. I will never go back here again.

Beware of cooked on premise foods. Ordered two slices of pizza & found a worm crawling on one of the slices. The manager was kind enough to refund my meal, but the whole ordeal was so off putting. Would never order any prepared food there again.

I work in the same lot so I figured this would be a cheaper and quicker then most restaurants. Long waits to be cashed out. The staff there pretty much are drones who stare off like they cant hear you when you need help. Seriously...

First thing I didnt get what I wanted which was a cooked chicken or that tasty cooled boneless pork loin I found a bought before ! I did get some sausages on sale plus chocolate donuts so it wasnt a total loss.

I love Big Y for the staff and the childrens play area. If you have a (free) Big Y card kids between the ages of 3 and 9 can play for free for 2 hours! Its clean, safe, and the staff is absolutely wonderful!!

Not a fan of the discount system. Either put something on sale or dont. I dont get the difference between the two cards or the coins or any of it. I want to buy groceries not play some foolish game.

I dont like shopping here but their cafe is great. You can buy a grinder (made to order) or a pizza or chicken meal for fairly cheap. Great value and fairly clean. Not too busy during lunch time.

I always shop at Big Y for groceries because they have very good quality. I like the bakery and snowflake rolls. I like the cookies and it is a great store with many helpful employees.

Price much more affordable compare to other groceries. They have member card. You can save more with the card. They have their own machine to make almond butter , which is very nice.

Best in area by FAR - easy parking, great selection, aisles are wide enough for two CARTS... top notch customer service if needed....and good prepared food...wont go anywhere else

Love the Big Y! It is the cleanest grocery store around with a great deli. Love their produce selection and everyone is always friendly.

I like Big Y organic section however, the grass-fed organic milk ($7.99) cost more than Stop & Shop ($5.99) and Market Basket ($4.49)

They were good when first open, going down hill since then. Pastry department is under staffed. The produce department is limited.
