The store does have a lot of stuff but is not a good place to shop for novice. If you dont know exactly what you are trying to find - go to specialty store with knowledgeable customer service reps. I was hoping to get used ski equipment since it is only my second year skiing and I have not quite figured out what I want yet. I was looking for advice on skies and got a pair of skies and boots there only to come back for refunds three times: they sold me some poor quality bulky skies saying it is the most popular ski, I came to exchange them and they sold me a pair of racing skies in junior size (well, look young but I am 32 years and 5 feet 8 inches... - hard to take for a junior...), they sold me boots two sizes bigger than I am (both wrong measuring they took of my foot and wrong labeling on the boots). At the end I returned everything and went to the pro ski shop at the mountain for consultation and got a great deal and great recommendations. I should have done it in the first place this way I would save on adjusting mounting at least 3 times - retail value of $60. They sibling store in Reading was also unpleasant experience: Stoneham store recommended them as place to make adjustment, gave me the coupon, when I got to the store they told me the earliest they can have it done is in three days and if I want it sooner I would have to pay $20 extra. They also assured me that there are no other places around that would do it sooner because it is the peak season - the next morning I had it done at the Wachusett within 15 min. I am not planning to come back to Play it again Sports.

Play It Again Sports has been around forever! But the mood in the air has changed. They still offer refurbished and used Goods however the prices have seemed to have gone up dramatically. One used to be able to go into the store and sell their goods for a decent price and expect for it to be resold in the same fashion. Now when you go in expect to get little for your goods and expect to see the next person in after you pay way more than they should which is way more than you got. I understand and have heard they may be under different ownership which may be part of the issue. I went to sell my skis and Boots to get some money for back to school shopping and found that my skis would not be purchased. I was told they were too old however they are only four years old. This was fine I went down the street to a competitor and showed them for $200. I am born and raised in this town and it always shopped at the store I am sure I am not the first or the last repeat customer that has found a new place 2 purchased their used Goods. Might I mention that when I asked why my skis could not be purchased I was met with the defense of argument rather than a polite reason.

I went to play it again sports for the first time the other day and I found the service o be exceptional. Not only do they have the most competitive prices around (even on there new items), i feel that you cant get any better hands on service anywhere else. The employees take the time to help you one on one not like the larger retail stores, i suited my son up head to toe in hockey equipment for the first time and this young gentlemen worked with us for over an hour and was extremely helpful. If your trying to save time and money and the hassle that goes into buying sports equipment youd be hard pressed to find a better store than play it again sports.

I called to see if they had a golf club with a 12 degree loft, and off set head, mens right handed. They would not look and save me the trip. The last time I went in there, I waited a half hour to be waited on before I left. If you need any help, save your time and money. I have had great service in Reading Location, they just did not have what i am looking for. I no this cause they looked for me.

Found a fairly inexpensive and good pair of figure-skating boots. Seems to be a fairly extensive shop. Well-organized with a cheap sharpening service. I believe the sharpening is $6 if you dont buy anything and $2 if you do. No idea yet if the sharpening is good quality (will need testing), but good overall impressions.

Good collection of used sports merchandise if u r either casually trying a sport or short on a budget. The price at which they buy back goods is a lil bit on lower side. But I guess they need to run a business. I would go again if I need skates or soccer gear.

Owner and staff are helpful, knowledgeable, and polite. Only complaint is that they do not charge enough. Perfect for growing kids who play many sports.
